Rachael Ray Gives 'I Used to Be Fat' Girls a Fashion Makeover (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 1st 2011 5:30PM
MTV's weight-loss reality show 'I Used to be Fat' inspired 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to give two girls featured on the show a style makeover. Maddy, who started out weighing 265 pounds, told Rachael, "I want to wear on the outside how I feel on the inside." Lindsay, who began her journey at 213 pounds, also wanted to be able to make the kind of first impression that reflects how she currently feels about herself.

Rachael's resident makeover guru, Kyan Douglas, whisked the girls backstage to work his magic. When he returned, Rachael called Maddy out first, and she came out wearing a black pencil skirt and a fuchsia tank. "I feel absolutely ecstatic, euphoric right now. I feel so confident and just beautiful," she said.

Jerry Springer Dresses Up as Lady Gaga for Halloween (VIDEO)

A mystery trick or treater rang 'Rachael Ray''s (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) doorbell Monday, and a very tall Lady Gaga in drag was at the door. Rachael, wearing a Little Red Riding Hood costume, lifted the veil to reveal that it was Jerry Springer. The look was so bizarre that the audience didn't even realize it was Springer until Rachael and Buddy shouted his name.

Still in costume, Jerry sat down and talked about being on the air for 21 years. "Two names: Jerry and Oprah. That's the list that's gone over 20," Rachael marveled.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Proudly Admit They Have a Favorite Child (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 26th 2011 3:30PM
Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulos proudly plowed through a long-held parenting taboo on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), when they admitted they have a favorite child. It wasn't one of those spontaneous 'gotcha' moments that can happen on talk shows; the couple clearly wanted to tell everyone, including their two other children, that their son Joaquin is their favorite.

Ripa knowingly accused the audience of secretly playing favorites with their own children, as well. "You know in the event of an emergency there's one kid you'd reach for first," she joked. Consuelos said the other children are aware of their standing in the family and suggested they were to blame. "They know it, too. It's very accepted. He's just nicer to us." If Michael and Lola weren't nice before, things might be getting pretty ugly in the Consuelos/Ripa house soon.

The mother-daughter pair stopped by 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where they shared their favorite moments from the ceremony, and Kim admitted her one wedding regret.

Kim's one regret, which she only realized after looking at the picture of her and Kris Humphries kissing on the altar, was that she wasn't standing on a box or stool for the big moment. Mike Rowe Discusses How 'Dirty Jobs' Has Evolved in the Recession (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 6th 2011 8:30PM
In an era where America's unemployment rate is stubbornly hovering around 10%, Mike Rowe's Discovery show 'Dirty Jobs' has evolved from gross-out TV into an exploration of the harsh conditions faced by the country's working poor.

As he discussed on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), when the show started it was "really dirty and kind of gross," and while it still certainly is still those things, it's grown to mean something more.

"Today, the show is about people, and the conversation that's really grown out of the show isn't about poop-jokes and misadventures in animal husbandry ... it's really more about what is a good job today, and what are we encouraging people to pursue," Rowe said.

Eddie Cibrian Defends 'The Playboy Club,' Says 'We Get Naked ... All the Time' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 30th 2011 5:00PM
'The Playboy Club' has been attracting a lot of negative attention lately, as complaints from the PTC and low ratings have put the glitzy '60s drama on cancellation watch. Eddie Cibrian went on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to defend the show against charges of misogyny, but couldn't bring himself to take issue with claims that it's too sexy.

"Our show has nothing to do with the Playboy Empire at all ... it has to do with Chicago in the 1960s and the Playboy Club where all the top entertainers, mobsters and politicos would come and rub shoulders ... good storytelling is what we're doing," Cibrian insisted.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing twins Bridget and Siobhan Martin on her new CW thriller 'Ringer,' but she told 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated) that having a real-life identical twin would freak her out.

"The whole duality is so interesting, because everybody is one way at work and you're one way at home. And being twins ... could you imagine someone who looked exactly like you? I think that's creepy actually," Gellar said.

On 'Ringer,' the twin sisters (obviously) look identical, but have very different personalities. Gellar she wouldn't want a real-life identical twin, but joked that she wouldn't mind having a drag impersonator, or even a male fraternal twin.

Bill Clinton Says He Turned Down 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 21st 2011 7:15AM
Rachael Ray and Bill ClintonAfter being criticized for including some frankly bland reality stars and celebrity offspring as contestants, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers have long been rumored to be pursuing A-listers.

And who's more A-list than the former leader of the free world? Incredible as it may seem, Bill Clinton says that 'DWTS' did once offer him a spot on the show.

When a member of the audience on 'The Rachael Ray Show' asked Clinton if he'd ever appear on 'DWTS' and, if so, what would his best dance moves be, he laughed and said "Well, that's really interesting ..."

Clinton then told an astonished host and studio audience that "They contacted me once about this and I told them I didn't have the time to train for it. You know, you have to train, you really work at it. So I had to pass."

Bert the Conqueror Tells Rachael Ray the One Thing He Won't Do (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 19th 2011 3:15PM
Bert Kreischer of 'Bert the Conqueror' on 'Rachael Ray' On Tuesday's 'Rachael Ray,' Bert Kreischer of 'Bert the Conqueror' talked about cliff diving, wife-carrying, and shark diving. Those are just a few of the dangerous and dubious stunts Kreischer has done on his show, but he also revealed the one thing he absolutely would not do, and presented Ray with a challenge.

For a little perspective on what Kreischer will do, he had advice about jumping off a fifty foot cliff. "If you ever jump off a cliff, number one, keep your legs closed," he said. "I didn't do that. At fifty feet, you'll feel it." He also loved shark diving. "This is the most surreal, serene experience. You are surrounded by 10-foot, 400-pound sharks, in a cage. And it is overwhelming."

The one thing he won't do? "I'll tell you what I won't do, definitely," he said. "Skydiving." But even that's on the table. Ray told him she's a big fan of skydiving, and advised him that if he tries it, he'll love it for life. Kreischer countered by asking if Ray would bungee jump, and she balked. "I will go skydiving with you if you do the challenge I come up with," he said. So look for a very special episode of 'Rachael Ray,' in the near future.

Wednesday, Ray got to fulfill a dream by cooking with Kerr on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated). The pair made a healthy dish, cauliflower with carrot cheese sauce.

Kerr has been cooking more healthy dishes lately, and chronicled his efforts to cook with foods he grows himself in his new book, 'Growing at the Speed of Life: A Year in the Life of My First Kitchen Garden.' The cauliflower and cheese sauce recipe is in the book, and, as Ray mentions, is mostly just vegetables and skim milk with a few spices like cumin, cayenne, and Dijon mustard. "Very rich, but this has no fat in it at all," said Kerr as he poured the sauce on the cauliflower.
