by Nick Zaino, posted May 24th 2011 3:30PM
Brooke Burke on 'Rachael Ray'Cobra Kai was no problem, but Ralph Macchio could not overcome the salsa.

The 'Karate Kid' star was knocked out of 'Dancing With the Stars' in the semifinals, but co-host Brooke Burke won't hold that against him. Burke admitted a bit of a crush on Macchio on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated). She said she had to admit to Macchio when he first came on 'DWTS' that, as a kid, she'd had posters of him plastered all over her room.

Burke said Macchio "hasn't changed a bit," and was disappointed to report that Macchio had no mutual crush. Her kids recognized Macchio in the hall at the show, and wanted to get a picture with him. But Burke stepped in. "I'm like, 'Excuse me, I want my one picture alone with Ralph Macchio please."

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff Sound Off on Their Exit

by Michael Maloney, posted May 18th 2011 7:00AM
Tom Bergeron, Brooke Burke, Karina Smirnoff, Ralph MacchioRalph Macchio's fans rallied to save him from being ejected last week on 'Dancing With the Stars,' but this week there just weren't enough votes to keep him safe and send him to next week's finals.

The fan favorite had promised to include some moves from 'The Karate Kid' in his freestyle dance, but that's off the table now that he's not in the finals.

Macchio and his partner Karina Smirnoff talked to TV Squad on the post-show press line. The couple expressed their gratitude for being paired together and for their journey. They were also quite frank about why they feel they were voted off of the program.

Any guesses as to why they think they're gone? Here's a hint: Macchio's on-air "thank you's" included just about everyone -- except the show's judges.

Which Contestant Came Just Short of the 'Dancing With the Stars' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 18th 2011 12:59AM
'Dancing with the Stars'With just one week before the season finale of 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC) nobody wants to go home. Perhaps more than anyone else, Ralph Macchio was sweating it out. His fans came through and saved him last week, but, after scoring the lowest marks of the night this week, he was going to need their help again.

Making it even more difficult was Hines Ward, who had two perfect scores on the night, and Chelsea Kane with one perfect-rated performance. Macchio and Kirstie Alley were early favorites to win the competition, and both have tremendous fan support.

Now, they found themselves the bottom two based on the judges' scores this week. It was certainly a bittersweet moment for the two who've enjoyed tremendous success and bucked expectations with great performances week after week. Which one of them would say goodbye this week?

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Kym Johnson's 'Never Been So Scared'; Ralph Macchio Says No Finale, No 'Karate Kid' Tribute

by Michael Maloney, posted May 17th 2011 7:00AM
Kym Johnson and Hines WardThis season of 'Dancing With the Stars' has proved that you don't need polarizing reality stars, manufactured romances between celebrities and dancers, or other contrived stuff to make a compelling two hours of television on Monday nights.

The heart-stopping neck injury suffered by fan favorite Kym Johnson during rehearsal last week, judge Bruno Tonioli's censored remark to Karina Smirnoff and host Tom Bergeron's lightning fast ad-libs are providing enough drama, gasps and laughs to keep the veteran series more popular than ever.

Alas, one couple will be going home tonight and, despite Ralph Macchio earning the lowest score, there's no guarantee it will be him. The actor's vocal fan base has already voted him through one likely elimination.

TV Squad talked to the semi-finalist pairs on the post-show press line last night to get their thoughts on Monday's performance show and taking part in arguably the most competitive season of 'DWTS' so far.

Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff, 'Dancing with the Stars'Ralph Macchio sported some odd posterior-padding for his Salsa, on suggestion of Karina Smirnoff, but it wasn't enough to salvage their performance in the eyes of the 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) panel of judges.

The audience was on Macchio's side, booing Len Goodman as he said that "there was no real rhythm ... It was all too harsh, too in your face, too much attack."

But it was Bruno Tonioli who earned a censor beep when he shortened the term pussycat by one syllable in reference to Karina Smirnoff. She didn't seem pleased with him describing her with such a word, even if he was telling Macchio to be gentle.

Macchio went back on the show to defend himself, because apparently the story had gotten a little out of control.

"It was like 'The National Enquirer' calling, 'People' Magazine. Is he wearing a toup'? Is he wearing a toup?'" Macchio lamented. "No, it's real."

He even allowed Lopez to give it a good tug and prove that it was real hair.

Ralph Macchio, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Ralph Macchio has proven to be a pretty good dancer on this season's 'Dancing With the Stars' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on ABC). We're sure he would attribute a lot of his success to his professional partner Karina Smirnoff.

The two have grown very close throughout the season, which may be why he could barely look at her on the cover of 'Playboy' on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

There are nude pictures of the dancer inside as well, but Macchio indicated he hasn't seen them. "I'm not saying there won't be a day," he admitted. "But I have sort of this big brother, sister relationship with her."

Made up of Kane & Mark Ballas, Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff, and Romeo & Chelsie Hightower, the couples did a great job of sharing the floor, spotlighting one another, and performing in tandem.
