Andy Cohen Scores Book Deal

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 8th 2011 4:15PM
We have absolutely no idea where Andy Cohen will find the time to write a memoir, but the Bravo Executive Vice-President and 'Watch What Happens Live' host has signed a book deal. Henry Holt and Company have commissioned one of TV's best multi-taskers to write a memoir about his life experience with pop culture. Cohen announced the deal on his Bravo blog.

The memoir will track Cohen's lifelong obsession with pop culture and how that has influenced his career. He'll share funny stories he's been saving about his days growing up in St. Louis, including his journey towards coming to terms with his sexuality, his time as a reporter for CBS News, and, we can only hope, some behind-the-scenes goodness about the process of creating the 'The Real Housewives' franchise for Bravo.

"I love to write and I'm thrilled that I get to share stories of my improbable intersections with pop culture that have enriched my life," Cohen said in a statement. He also said that he began writing the book this week, and that it's due out next summer. Cohen is soliciting suggestions from fans to help him decide on the memoir's title.

'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Returns May 3 With Bigger Hair, Bigger Drama (New Trailer!)

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 26th 2010 1:40PM
Real Housewives of New JerseyThe show that brought back the angry table flip is returning to Bravo -- and sooner then you'd think ... May 3! Yes, all of the lovely ladies -- Teresa, Dina, Caroline, Jacqueline and Danielle -- are back on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' and we couldn't be happier.

Forget the squabbling in 'New York', the botox in 'Orange County' and the weaves in 'Atlanta,' the 'New Jersey' Italian girls know how to make some good television.

If the new trailer is an indication, this season will be filled to the brim with drama. From a trip to Italy and ongoing court battles, this season is sure to pack quite a punch, both literally and figuratively!

Kelly Quizzes Daughters on Playboy Shoot on 'Real Housewives of NYC' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 19th 2010 4:39AM
Real Housewives of New York City, Playboy ShootBringing new meaning to the phrase 'desperate housewives,' Kelly Killoren Bensimon asked her daughters what they thought about her doing a Playboy photo shoot on 'The Real Housewives of New York City' (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo).

She got some interesting answers, including "you're a bad parent" and "to entertain people with your weirdness." Our favorite? "If you're not going to say something nice, talk to the boobies because the head's off duty." Out of the mouths of babes.

Vicki Wants Out of the 'Real Housewives' Reunion Show (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 12th 2010 1:34AM
Real Housewives of Orange County, VickiVicki, Vicki, Vicki. First of all, where did you get that hideous dress? Seriously, did you play like Scarlett O'Hara and rip a curtain off a window?

And if you don't want to fight on national TV, why on earth would you sign on for a show like 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Thu., 9PM ET on Bravo)? That's what you guys do – fight, make up, fight, make up. That's really about all there is to it.

So either get with the program, or move on to a show like 'The Marriage Ref.' Yeah, you'd probably fit right in over there.

Tamra Barney Dishes on her Separation on 'Real Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 11th 2010 4:35AM
Real Housewives of Orange County, Simon and Tamra SeparationThings have been imploding between Simon and Tamra for a while now on 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Wed., 10PM ET on Bravo), so it's no big shocker that they would separate.

Tamra talked moving out and getting her own apartment, but whenever there are kids involved, it always ups the emotional factor exponentially. Sophia isn't doing all that great, which is hard for everyone involved. And Tamra looks like she's aged about ten years during this season.

'Real Housewives' Head to Beverly Hills

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 10th 2010 4:22PM
Mia MichaelsGet ready for the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bravo has given the go-ahead to four new series, including a Beverly Hills edition of its popular 'Real Housewives' franchise. (We're already imagining a crossover episode with the nearby 'Real Housewives of Orange County.')

Also getting the greenlight are 'Miami Social Club,' a reality series that chronicles the lives of Miami socialites, but apparently has nothing to do with Bravo's other Miami-based series, 'Miami Social,' 'Million Dollar Decorators,' about high-end designers, and the New York-based 'Pregnant in Heels.'

Vicki Comforts Tamra on 'Real Housewives of Orange County' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 5th 2010 3:53AM
Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra, VickiEven though they can be shallow, petty and whiny, it's still disheartening any time a divorce enters into the equation on 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo).

Tamra thinks that's just where she's headed with Simon, and turns to Vicki for guidance. And Vicki has some darn good advice.

"You've gotta stop him from controlling you," she told the distraught housewife. "You are gonna control your own destiny. You can't let anybody else do it. At the very end of the night when you put your head on the pillow, it's your life." You can't argue with that.

On the other hand, is Vicki really one to be giving marriage advice?

Bethenny Frankel Previews 'Real Housewives of New York City's' Explosive Season Premiere

by Kim Potts, posted Mar 4th 2010 12:00PM
It may be a cliché, but it's also completely true of the drama that unfolds in tonight's third season premiere of 'The Real Housewives of New York City' versus the hijinks of seasons past: You ain't seen nothing yet.

The opening moments of the premiere (11PM ET, Bravo) lull us into thinking housewives Ramona, Jill and Countess LuAnn are getting along, as they set sail on a little yachting excursion in the Hamptons, but we don't even make it half an hour into the episode before LuAnn starts a fight with Ramona about an allegedly rude exchange with Ramona's hubby, Mario.

We chatted with Bethenny Frankel this week about the new season, the new feuds and the new additions to her life, namely her fiancée Jason and baby-to-be; her upcoming 'Real Housewives' spin-off, 'Bethenny Gets Married'; and her thriving career as an author and cocktail entrepreneur.

March 2010 Premiere Dates And Finales

Dancing with the Stars / Nip/Tuck
Now that Olympic fever has subsided, it's time to look ahead to a March filled with many returning favorites, including ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars,' NBC's 'The Apprentice,' and Comedy Central's bad boys of 'South Park.' The month also offers both 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards' on ABC and NCAA Basketball's "March Madness" on CBS.

March kicks off with one of the most controversial premieres of the year. After a dismal performance in primetime, Jay Leno returns to 'The Tonight Show' (Mon., March 1 at 11:35PM on NBC) desk he temporarily vacated for Conan O'Brien. Make sure you don't miss a moment of the biggest premieres and finales in March.

Simon Compares Vicki to Hitler on 'Real Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 26th 2010 1:02AM
Real Housewives of Orange County, TamraIt's one thing to fight with your wife's friend, but quite another to compare her to Hitler.

"Everyone has a good side," Simon says to Tamra on 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo). "Hitler had a good side. He was very nice to Eva Braun ... he had some dogs and he took care of the dogs, but he was evil anti-Christ."

You know ... like Vicki. We especially love the editing on this scene. When Tamra cranks her head to look at Simon, it's like that "dramatic hamster" video on YouTube.

The Real Housewives of Orange County, GretchenTalk about ruining the moment. Slade was all set to pop the question to Gretchen on 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo), until she started crazy-talking about how everybody should be for lease.

"If I had somebody for lease and I knew that, hey, they're either gonna keep me or turn me in for a newer or better version, I'm gonna try and stay tuned up! I'm gonna try and be as good as I can."

Yeah, that's stable. Good luck with that, Slade.

The Curtins Get an Eviction Notice on 'Real Housewives of Orange County' (VIDEO)

Real Housewives of Orange County - Lynne gets an eviction noticeHey, they don't call it a reality show for nothing. Reality is hitting home on 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' (Thurs., 10PM ET on Bravo) when the Curtins get an eviction notice. Only problem? Lynne and Frank weren't there when the eviction was served. Raquel had to call and tell her mom they'd just been served.

Well, you know what, Lynne? Maybe you should have thought twice about that face lift. Maybe Frank is right, and you've been living beyond your means for a while now. Maybe it's time to get ... a reality check!

I won't miss Jersey Shore

by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 22nd 2010 6:05PM
jersey_shore_mtvLast night was the wrap up for Jersey Shore. I have to tell you, I won't miss it. Unlike many others who were drawn in to Jersey Shore, the show never grew on me. The MTV reality show got an inordinate amount of media coverage. It became the butt of jokes all over the place, the perfect gag line. It was controversial and insulting to the actual people who love and live on the Jersey Shore.

But the show is horrible. Truly, deeply and utterly horrible. I watched it to see what the fuss was all about, but after ten minutes, I had had enough. It wasn't funny or goofy or even car-wreck compelling. It was just dumb. Even with the subtitles, I could barely understand them.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Twelve shows a'stinkin'!

by Brad Trechak, posted Dec 12th 2009 10:00AM
HeroesOn the twelfth day of Festivus, TV gave to me ... twelve shows a'stinkin'!

Being the endless wasteland that it is, television has no shortage of bad product. Mind you, "bad" is always a matter of opinion. This year saw the end of According to Jim after eight years of decent ratings while in terms of quality it lasted about seven years too long. What follows is my own opinion and at the end of each item in the list, I will quote everybody's favorite critic, Jay Sherman.

12. Heroes – This show was great in the first season, then with only brief glimpses of greatness in the later seasons, the writers and the network proceeded to dump it in the trash, rub it around some sewage and finally make it have a one night stand with Andy Dick. IT STINKS!
