Al Roker Does Not Want to Go to Kandi Burruss' Adult Toy Shop (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 1st 2011 12:00PM
Kandi Burruss is one of the ladies from 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' but she's got a few other entrepreneurial ventures on the side. In addition to launching her own show where she'll give everyday people the opportunity to record music, Burruss is also opening a toy shop. A special, adult, toy shop, as Al Roker and Natalie Morales found out the awkward way in a 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) interview.

"Phaedra opens up a funeral home, you're opening up a toy shop ... you don't want to get those mixed up," Al said, not realizing how just how correct he was.

"No ... it's a different kind of toy shop," Kandi said, laughing, as it became clear to Al and Natalie what they were talking about.

'Real Housewives' Head to Beverly Hills

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 10th 2010 4:22PM
Mia MichaelsGet ready for the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bravo has given the go-ahead to four new series, including a Beverly Hills edition of its popular 'Real Housewives' franchise. (We're already imagining a crossover episode with the nearby 'Real Housewives of Orange County.')

Also getting the greenlight are 'Miami Social Club,' a reality series that chronicles the lives of Miami socialites, but apparently has nothing to do with Bravo's other Miami-based series, 'Miami Social,' 'Million Dollar Decorators,' about high-end designers, and the New York-based 'Pregnant in Heels.'

Bethenny Frankel Gets Her Own Show

by Chris Jordan, posted Jan 11th 2010 11:45AM
Bethenny Frankel appears to have it all: fame, fortune, Skinnygirl Margaritas -- everything, that is, except for her own reality series.

Until now.

Frankel, one of the breakout stars of Bravo's 'Real Housewives of New York,' is set to star in her own series called 'Bethenny's Getting Married?', which will presumably follow Frankel's engagement to Jason Hoppy, according to E! (yes, the question mark is intentional).

Top TV Stories of 2009: The Real Housewives were everywhere

The Bravo network has had a lot of success with reality TV, especially the Real Housewives of Orange County, which begat the Real Housewives of New York City, which begat the Real Housewives of Atlanta ... and in 2009, the Real Housewives of New Jersey. It's been quite a year for the women, and believe me, they all made news.

There were hit songs, wigs being pulled, economic strife, dueling fashion shows, potential husbands dying suddenly ... and that was just on one installment. Let's take a look back, show by show, shall we, starting with the newest bunch of merry wives, the Jersey girls. Their specialty was table flipping.

Reality Show Fights: The Best Punches, Slaps and Spits (VIDEO)

by Chris O'Connell, posted Dec 17th 2009 12:08PM
Jersey ShoreIf you've been watching 'Jersey Shore' -- and if you know what's good for you, you have -- you may have heard about petite guidette Snooki's getting clocked in the face by a mystery male assailant. (The promo was everywhere for a while, but was pulled after MTV edited the punch out of the episode, which airs tonight.)

The idea of the punch (and the sight of it, for those of us who've watched it) is alarming for a few reasons. First and foremost, the image of a man hitting a woman squarely in the face is shocking; most reality show fights that escalate to physical violence are between two men or two women. Furthermore, these reality show fights rarely involve actual punches; normally it's a bunch of hugging disguised as grappling, rolling around on the ground and hair-pulling until the producers move in. This is the real deal.

But if you've ever been to Seaside, NJ, you aren't surprised by this use of unnecessary violence over what was probably an argument about a slice of boardwalk pizza or a discussion of Yankees vs. Mets. Also, if you've seen a reality show in the past five years, you aren't surprised that someone caught a bad one. We've compiled the best punches/slaps/etc. of the last few years in the wonderful world of reality television.

'Atlanta' May Move Forward Without NeNe, Kim

by Adam Keleman, posted Dec 11th 2009 4:32PM
Have reality TV stars NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak been booted from 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta'?

Well, possibly ...

The New York Daily News has reported that 'Real Housewives' stars NeNe and Kim are allegedly seeking more money to return for the third season of Bravo's hit show.

The widely watched cabler is clearly fed up with the diva behavior, and inside sources have even mentioned that Bravo and the 'Real Housewives' producers have started a hunt to find the next notable, sound bite-worthy wives in Atlanta to fill the Louboutins of NeNe and Kim.

Peace, Love and Soul at the 2009 Soul Train Awards

by Meg Prossnitz, posted Nov 30th 2009 8:00AM
2009 Soul Train AwardsThe 2009 Soul Train Awards were full of surprises -- of the smooching variety, that is.

The show began with Trey Songz and Toni Braxton puckering up during their performance of 'Yesterday.' Co-hosts Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson then celebrated their 'Hustle & Flow' reunion with some major (faux?) spit-swapping.

Not that it was necessary for Taraji to wow the audience. She did a dead-on impression of Diana Ross in a Motown tribute and she and Terrence impressed with their singing abilities.

Taylor Jacobson Leaving Rachel Zoe: Who Should Replace Her?

by Rebecca Paiement, posted Nov 9th 2009 1:00PM
Taylor JacobsonIf and when the 'Rachel Zoe Project' resumes on Bravo, it will have to be without assistant Taylor Jacobson.

PEOPLE is reporting that Zoe has fired Jacobson, effective immediately. Zoe's rep, Carrie Gordon, has since confirmed the news.

Why Jacobson was let go remains to be seen, although, given how often she complained about her job on the show, many would say she had it coming.

Still, Jacobson insists that the decision was solely her own. Hoping to begin her own fashion styling business, Jacobson's Twitter account and emails to colleagues, leaked to Fashionista, reflect her enthusiasm to get out on her own. "I am saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure," she wrote. "After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap and go off and style on my own."

Kim Zolciak 'Tardy for the Party' Performance on 'Real Housewives' Reunion (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 6th 2009 10:15AM
Better break out your earplugs, because this surely ranks as the most compelling case for auto-tune ever.

Kim Zolciak of 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' performed her single "Tardy for the Party" live for the first time on last night's "Housewives" reunion special. In this assault to the senses, Zolciak writhes on stage and warbles the single while being flanked by two backup dancers.

Watch the video after the jump.

Who Is Kim Zolciak's Big Poppa from 'Real Housewives of Atlanta'?

by Andrew Scott, posted Oct 30th 2009 11:23AM
Real Housewives of Atlanta Big Poppa"Big Poppa," Kim Zolciak's mysterious (ex?) boyfriend, was once again the subject of much discussion on the 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' reunion.

Host Andy Cohen drilled Kim on the status of their relationship (Poppa proposed to Kim near the end of the season, despite being, you know, already married), which she claimed is now officially over. Then, as if on cue, Poppa made a surprise appearance, during which he kissed Kim, according to Cohen.

The incident, of course, happened off-camera, adding more allure to the mystery behind Poppa's true identity. So, who is he? Here's what we know:

The mesmerizing horror of the Real Housewives' "Tardy for the Party"

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 18th 2009 12:00PM
Kim Real Housewives of AtlantaLet me preface this post with a little background. I have not followed any of the Housewives shows. I have only seen the highlights and commercials during Kathy Griffin's D-List and comedy specials. So what I know of the show is that someone in New Jersey turned a table over at one point, and that the producers felt the need for a reunion show, even though I thought part of the point of the show was following people who already lived near each other. How long could they have been apart?

Keep that in mind when I tell you that I caught about ten minutes of last night's episode, ten minutes that left an impression. I had just gotten home from a show watching a local Boston musician who is a great singer and songwriter. I enjoy his work greatly. He's working on an album that he will be releasing himself. Hopefully, he'll get some exposure for it.

In the war between the cable channels, score this week for Lifetime over Bravo. The battle for Project Runway had been a legal wrangle that delayed Lifetime getting to show the fashion reality series until last Thursday, but when it finally appeared it was a ratings bonanza. Project Runway was the highest-rated series premiere in Lifetime's history. That's 25 years!

Recession and the Real Housewives of Atlanta

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 11th 2009 10:29AM
bravo_hartwell_real_housewives_of_atlantaA week ago on the hit Bravo reality "thang" Real Housewives of Atlanta, if you tuned in you got to see the ladies who lunch take it outside for a beat down, but you also saw one of the fakiest, mushiest love scenes yet on the Real Housewives' franchise. Former, pro football player Ed Hartwell cooked a special dinner, spread rose petals to spell "I love you," played massage therapist, and finally took a bubble bath with his wife while murmuring the words, "Let's go make some babies."

The ick factor was set on 11 on the Spinal Tap scale. That was then. Ed and Lisa Hartwell have been foreclosed upon and now that bathtub for two is the bank's property.

Real Housewives of Atlanta pulls in ratings ... really?

by Jane Boursaw, posted Nov 29th 2008 8:30AM
Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion SpecialLet me preface this post by saying that I recently covered Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta for another site. But it was never any secret that I thought the housewives were self-serving rich girls who had no clue about what's really going on in the world.

Example: NeNe dissed her best friend, Kim, to the other housewives, but I will say NeNe had a better singing voice than Kim, who thought she could secure a record contract just because her sugar daddy, Big Poppa, forked over the cash.

Out of all of them, I thought DeShawn had the most loving, giving heart, but she was way too naive to try organizing a fundraiser for her charity (hey, if you've got the money, hire someone who knows what they're doing!). Her heart's in the right place, though.
