What to Watch: April 7

'The Challenge: Fresh Meat II' (10PM, MTV) season 19 premiereThirteen 'Real World/Road Rules Challenge' veterans are paired with 13 competitors who make up the titular "fresh meat" in this latest quest to win a $300,000 prize. And while the newbies are gonna give the old school players a run for their money -- both literally, and in terms of their ability to party themselves senseless (also literally, in some cases) -- the story of this 'Challenge' is a familiar one, as rivals Kenny and Wes square off once again. There will be plenty of hook-ups, break-ups, fights and, a preview suggests, a medical situation that requires a helicopter evacuation, but it's the continuation of the Wes vs. Kenny brouhaha that will cause the biggest drama in the game. The two actually start the competition as allies, sorta, but it doesn't take long for Kenny to realize that what's in his best interest is definitely not a priority for Wes ...
2009's Trashy Reality Report Card
by Michael Pascua, posted Dec 28th 2009 10:05AM

While there are reality shows like The Amazing Race, Survivor, or even Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List garnering praise and Emmys for their quality level or American Idol, America's Next Top Model, or So You Think You Can Dance giving real people with potential to fulfill their dreams, trashy reality shows appear like the black sheep of the family. They are loud, brash, and sleazy. Like a car crash, you can't help but turn and look.
For reality television, 2009 has provided some of the biggest reasons why reality television gets a bad reputation. Four cable channels have become festering points for Trashy Reality in 2009: VH1, E!, MTV, and WE.
5 Worst VH1 Spin-Offs
by Chris O'Connell, posted Dec 15th 2009 11:30AM
VH1 is expanding on its 'Tough Love' franchise by ordering eight episodes of a show that is to include couples, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The spinoff, aptly titled 'Tough Love: Couples,' will feature 'Tough Love' star Steve Ward and his mother JoAnn. The two will assess the relationships of the couples just before they are set to marry, determining if they are fit to tie the knot together.
This is certainly not the first time VH1 has spun off off their popular shows, sometimes unnecessarily. In fact, there are so many spinoffs of their reality shows, we have compiled a list of just the worst ones.
Weekly Reality Awards
by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 18th 2009 10:04AM
As the numbers continue to dwindle on the competitive reality shows, tension is starting to rise and I want a front seat. The one thing I appreciate about network reality programs compared to scripted shows is that there are new episodes every week (I'm looking at you, Grey's Anatomy).I'm going to make a prediction that next week Coach will say something stupid, Frenchie will say something that needs subtitles, the cast of The Biggest Loser will sweat, and Adam will regret singing "Play That Funky Music" a few weeks too early. This week's awards after the jump.

'Redemption Song'(11PM, FUSE)
Imagine the women of the 'Bad Girls Club' with rock star aspirations and you've got this deliciously drama-ridden reality series, in which 11 women with checkered pasts and scores of wasted opportunities take what might be their last shot at a career in the music industry.
In fact, the contenders – including Kendra, a self-described 'smorgasbord of crazy' – start the show with host Chris Jericho revealing that each will receive a contract with Geffen Records.
The deals are theirs to lose, and all but one of them will. And we're guessing it'll be the one who can resist what appears to be a group fondness for chugging alcohol right from the bottle.
The top 10 bad-ass women of reality TV
by Kristin Sample, posted Oct 8th 2007 3:02PM
So, I was going to do a list about the most villainous women of reality TV but then I thought...wouldn't a list of bad-ass women be way more interesting? Being bad is overrated (almost as overrated as being good). But being bad-ass, now that's a tricky balancing act, one that is way more intriguing. This list therefore is dedicated to the women of reality TV that make being bad look oh so good. And no, Omarosa Stallworth-whatever is NOT on the list. I'll explain why after the jump.
