'Dancing With the Stars' Week 7: Hope's Redemption & Ricki's Back On Top
by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 1st 2011 12:10AM
It was a good night to be Hope Solo. After an embarrassing night on the dance floor during last week's 'Dancing With the Stars,' and the very public fallout between her partner Maks and judge Len Goodman, Hope proved that she could once again have fun in the ballroom. Meanwhile, Maks was purposely quiet on the dance floor, but even more self-righteous than ever in rehearsals. This week, all three judges praised Hope and Maks' sexy werewolf samba. Perhaps they didn't want to upset the big bad wolf like they did last week? For one of the first times ever, Hope looked like she was finally having a good time on the dance floor -- but it didn't look that way during rehearsals.
In fact, it looked pretty painful.
'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Week Three Performances
by Crystal Bell, posted Oct 3rd 2011 11:15PM
It was a night of tears -- and the occasional sob -- for the 'Dancing With the Stars' contestants this week as the celebs picked the most memorable years of their lives and chose songs from those years. And, boy, was it dramatic. After last week's nip-slip seen 'round the world, Nancy Grace got all teary-eyed and sloppy this week -- and not in a good way. Okay, so it's pretty hard to spice up a 'Moon River' waltz, but it could have been a bit more exciting. At this point, Nancy's only saving grace might be her partner Tristan MacManus because, let's face it, he's obviously a fan favorite.
However, the standout performance and real tearjerker of the night came from Iraq war veteran and burn survivor J.R. Martinez, who shared his harrowing story for the first time on the show. After serving two months as an United States Army infantryman in Iraq, J.R. was badly injured when his Humvee hit a landmine. He slipped into a coma and had intense burns on over 40 percent of his body, lost most of the hair on his head and one of his ears. He spent over two years in the hospital recovering and had 33 surgeries to repair the damage to his skin.
'Glee' Season 3, Episode 2 Recap: Three Directors & a Little Baby
by Crystal Bell, posted Sep 28th 2011 12:01AM
['Glee' - 'I Am Unicorn']OK, judging by some of your comments from the premiere recap, I get the feeling that no one really believes in 'Glee' anymore, and I totally get it. Season 2 was too uneven and had way too many over-the-top quest stars and musical numbers and not enough plot.
Yet, I was hopeful for Season 3 because, believe it or not, I actually care about these kids.
I want to see Rachel make it to Broadway and Kurt follow his dreams to New York -- and I really want to see Brittany graduate high school (what grade is she in exactly?!).
As much as I applauded 'Glee''s Season 3 premiere for getting back to its basics, this week's 'I Am Unicorn' felt a little flat, like Ryan Murphy was building up to something, only to have it be revealed in episode 3. And I'm okay with that because I like the direction this season is going.
'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Week Two Performances (VIDEO)
by Crystal Bell, posted Sep 27th 2011 1:10AM
J.R. Martinez may have been the least known star when Season 13 of 'Dancing With the Stars' premiered last week, but after two stellar performances in a row, this war veteran turned soap opera star may just be the one to beat.J.R. had me thoroughly entertained throughout his lively jive performance. Dare I say, it even looked like a dance that could easily appear in week seven or eight -- and the judges knew it. Karina's choreography included a risky, yet well-executed, lift that judge Carrie Ann Inaba felt should have been saved for a later performance, so she automatically deducted a point.
And even though J.R. out-danced every other star on that dance floor, Len Goodman said that the dance was more lindy hop and less jive. (Jive or not, it was still pretty fantastic, right Len?) Bruno Tonioli was the only judge on J.R. and Karina's side, commenting that J.R. was "a natural dancer."
'Community' Season 2, Episode 20 Recap
by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 14th 2011 11:30PM
['Community' - 'Competitive Wine Tasting']I'm sensing a trend here with 'Community,' and I'm not sure I really love it. The big episodes are getting bigger and better, while those in-between episodes -- which should be so key to drive plot and character development -- are feeling more like filler.
That being said, tonight's episode did one thing very right that's usually completely wrong: Pierce.
The writers (and, I guess, some acting skill on Chevy Chase's part) actually succeeded in making me feel bad for Pierce. Even if he did begin the episode with advice learned from losing his virginity to a prostitute, he redeemed himself here.
Don't get me wrong: Scheming almost-wife Wu Mei is completely mistaken when she calls Pierce "a beautiful, wise man and a gentle soul," but I didn't loathe him here, and that, in itself, is a feat that made this episode worthwhile.
'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Reunion, Part 1 Recap
by Rebecca Adler Warren, posted Jan 28th 2011 10:30AM
On this week's reunion episode of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' the ladies gathered in a gilded ballroom to rehash the season's hottest topics: Taylor's lips, Lisa's potty mouth, Camille's crappy personality and a string of expertly fought catfights (minus the clawing).Luckily for Bravo's goofy godfather Andy Cohen, the Beverly Hills babes aren't ones to throw punches, so it was safe to host this reunion special in a grand, historic Los Angeles hotel.
'The Vampire Diaries' Season 2, Episode 2 Recap
by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 17th 2010 1:00AM
['The Vampire Diaries' - 'Brave New World'] Pity we can't all be as witty as Damon Salvatore. On Thursday's episode of 'The Vampire Diaries,' Caroline finally had some choice words for Damon after remembering all the times he had used and manipulated her then erased her memory. Those words? "You suck."
Most people would've chosen a few stronger words, but that's part of Caroline's charm. Besides, the not-so-harsh insult worked on two levels -- Damon's kind of a d-bag, and he drinks human blood.
'America's Got Talent' - 'Episode 525' Semi-Finals Recap
by Piet Levy, posted Aug 25th 2010 10:20AM
"Fo
r the past six weeks the acts have been battling it out for your votes." - Nick CannonHonestly Nick, it's felt like 60 years. My interest in "AGT" has seriously waned over the past few weeks, and my boredom transformed into anger when the semi-finals were delayed for two whole weeks by obnoxious YouTube and Wild Card specials (yes, not even little Jackie Evancho could compensate for all the tedium). On Tuesday night we finally made it to the semi-finals. But even though host Nick Cannon boasted that "the ultimate prize is closer than ever," all this episode was going to do was inspire viewers to pick five acts out of 12 amongst the 24 still eligible to make it to the final 10. It's exhausting even thinking about it.
I went into "AGT" with an open mind Tuesday, really I did. But even the judges didn't seem all that impressed by the performances. Still, during the occasional thrilling act, I was reminded why I liked this show in the first place.

'Ghost Whisperer' - 'Blood Money' Recap
by Isabelle Carreau, posted May 8th 2010 2:20PM
(S05E20) "Ghosts? Is that your specialty?" - Greg to MelindaI'm always surprised that no one in Grandview gossips about Melinda's gift so that it becomes somewhat common knowledge. After helping ghosts reconnect with their families for five years, one would expect that a few would have told their friends about Melinda's gift and helping them, no? Wouldn't you want to tell your friends how you got closure thanks to Melinda?
I can't wait to get a "Oh! You are that Melinda! I've heard about you!" Instead, we have to believe that everyone is able to keep Melinda's gift a secret. Then again, maybe some did gossip because rare are the people who say "WTF?!?! You can see ghosts!?!?" This week was no different.

But things will play out in your favor, because Lisa will come running to you after she gets her legs broken, and you'll join forces with Erica and her Scooby gang to bring down the Vs once and for all.
