Kelly Ripa Embarrasses Zac Efron With Photo of His 'Reno 911' Halloween Costume (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Dec 7th 2011 6:40PM
Zac Efron stopped by 'Live!' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to hang out with Kelly and her guest-host du jour, Josh Groban. As Groban ribbed him about his selection as one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men of 2011, Kelly flipped over a card to reveal a photo of Efron, but it wasn't the one featured in the magazine.

"Aw, that's not it," Efron groaned, as Kelly held up a shot of him with a mustache, cop sunglasses and hilariously tight shorts. "I did 'Seventeen Again' with Tom Lennon, who was big on 'Reno 911,' he played Lt. Dangle," Efron explained. "I didn't have a Halloween costume so I called up my boy and I said, 'Hey man, so you still have your old costume?' he said 'Yeah, man, I have the whole thing.'"

Is 'Reno 911!' Making a Comeback?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 7th 2011 6:15AM
'Reno 911' Season 1 castTime to dust off those tight shorts and polish your nightstick: Jim Dangle and the crew could be coming back!

Hot on the heels of a possible 'Arrested Development' revival, we hear that 'Cops' parody 'Reno 911!' could also be in line for resurrection.

According to Vulture, Netflix and the show's producers are in talks about producing new episodes. But don't get too excited: There are a lot of obstacles to get past before it could become reality.

But just how great would it be if it actually happened? And is there a full-on Noughties revival building in the world of TV?

On Wednesday's edition of 'The Insider' (weekdays, syndicated), Nash and her mother, Margaret, discussed an incident that almost killed them. They revealed that Margaret's former boyfriend shot Margaret in the back -- while going after Niecy's brother -- with a sawed-off shotgun. It's a pretty shocking incident -- one that will send chills up your spine.

Straight Actors, Gay Characters: Our Faves

by Liane Bonin, posted Nov 2nd 2009 7:30PM
It's a good (or at least a slightly better) year to play gay on prime time TV, according to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

Eighteen regular characters on scripted TV are either gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, an increase of 2.6 percent over last season. Of course, not every character that is gay is played by someone who is. Here's a look at some of the straight guys who aren't afraid to play against personal preference and buck musty old stereotypes at the same time.

Reno 911 creators producing new comedy for NBC

by Mike Moody, posted Oct 14th 2009 4:00PM
homas lennon ben garrantIt's great to see members of The State getting their due in Hollywood.

Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, founding members of the sketch comedy troupe, have been cracking me up since the early '90s when the State had its own sketch comedy show on MTV. They've been very productive since The State was canceled in 1995, starring and producing Comedy Central's hilarious Reno 911 and writing a number of films, including Night at the Museum and Balls of Fury. Now, the duo is bringing their twisted brand of comedy to NBC.

Lennon and Garant will write, produce and star in a new multicamera comedy for the network, says The Hollywood Reporter. The show is part of a talent deal NBC and Universal inked with Lennon.

NBC Dials Up 'Reno 911!' Writers

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Oct 13th 2009 2:03PM
Reno 911Sound the alarm: According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has tapped 'Reno 911!' co-creators Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant to spearhead a new comedy project for the network. The two will act on-screen and serve as executive producers.

Lennon and Garant both have considerable writing experience -- for the big screen, they recently penned both 'Night at the Museum' films. At the same time, they've enjoyed cult success as actors beginning with MTV's 'The State,' a sketch comedy show based on the comedy troupe they formed (which formed the basis of 'the 'Reno 911!' ensemble cast).

A second look at Reno 911!, season six

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 9th 2009 2:04PM
Reno 911!When I first wrote about the cast changes for season six of Reno 911!, a few readers were disappointed that their favorite deputies were killed in a tragic taco stand explosion. Clementine (Wendi McLendon-Covey), Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui), and Kimball (Mary Birdsong) all died, and were replaced this season with Deputy Frank Rizzo (Joe Lo Truglio) and Sergeant Jack Declan (Ian Roberts).

Clementine and Garcia were both part of the show since the beginning, and were often the most appealing characters on the show. The racial tension between Garcia and Deputy Jones (Cedric Yarbrough) was a fun plotline, and Clementine's undercover pot bust at a head shop was one of my favorite scenes. Kimball came aboard in season three, and had her adherents, as well.

What to Watch Wednesday, April 29

Lost'Lost'
(9PM, ABC)
It's the 100th episode of the series, and one of the final four of the season, so it's only fitting that 'The Variable' delivers some major scoop.

This one's Faraday-centric, as the shaggy physicist begins to unveil all that he knows about the island. At the end of 'Some Like It Hoth,' Faraday showed up on the island as a scientist working for the Dharma Initiative. That factors into tonight's revelations, which also includes Mrs. Hawking and the truth about her connection to Charles Widmore.

And all this is leading up to the fifth season finale – the penultimate 'Lost' season finale ever – in which, rumor has it, another major Gilligan bites the dust.

Garbage Moguls'Garbage Moguls'
(9PM, NGC) series premiere
Happy Earth Day, people! To celebrate, perhaps you'd like to purchase a backpack, notebook or colored pencils made from garbage?

No? You might change your mind after meeting the team from TerraCycle, an "eco chic" company devoted to making useable – and pretty cool, we might add – products from recycled materials like Oreo cookie wrappers, Capri Sun juice boxes and newspapers.

'Garbage Moguls' follows 27-year-old TerraCycle founder Tom Szaky and his crafty crew as they brainstorm product ideas – An Oreo wrapper kite? A Slip 'n Slide made of wrappers? – and try to bring them to fruition, all in the name of green living and building a multi-million business.

It's round two for Bravo's pop culture awards fest, and the network's funniest lady (well, intentionally funny, anyway), Kathy Griffin, is back as hostess.

Celebs from A-list to D-list, including Neil Patrick Harris, Tori Spelling, Tila Tequila and Paris Hilton, also pop up throughout the festivities, which will honor winners in categories like A-List TV Show ('Gossip Girl,' 'Mad Men,' 'The Office,' '30 Rock' and 'True Blood') and A-List Abs (Christian Bale, Tyson Beckford, David Beckham, Hugh Jackman and Matthew McConaughey).

Personally, we can't wait to see who takes home the A-List Kate (Beckinsale, Blanchett, Bosworth, Holmes, Hudson, Jackson, Moss, Perry, Olsen and Winslet).

New cast members, same old Reno 911! - VIDEO

by Nick Zaino, posted Mar 30th 2009 7:02PM
Reno 199! Season Six CastOne of my favorite things that Reno 911! does is to weave in guest stars with little or no fanfare, and to just let them mix it up with the cast. I smile every time I see Patton Oswalt as a role-playing geek running, in full chainmail, from Dangle & Co. Or Paul Rudd as a Lamaze coach. Or Cheryl Hines as trailer trash (there has been a lot of trailer trash).

It's never a big deal, it's never announced to promote the show. It's just people who are good at what they do goofing off and having a lot of fun, which is what the rest of the cast is doing anyway.

Looks like the new season, which premieres Wednesday at 10:30PM, will continue that tradition. Here's a bit with Jonah Hill, uncensored.

Eight of TV's weirdest dreams - VIDEOS

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 19th 2009 11:04AM
There is no better way to get inside a character's head (without resorting to charging up some power cutting tools and laying down some newspaper) than writing in a dream sequence.

Some of them, however, try to explain too much or cover too much ground and end up becoming the kind of dreams that keeps our Paxil dosage high and GlaxoSmithKline's stock price higher.

These are those mindfreaks.
