Stargate Atlantis: Ghost In The Machine

by Brett Love, posted Aug 16th 2008 7:32AM

Michelle Morgan - Stargate Atlantis
(S05E05) It's a strange week for Stargate Atlantis. Normally we talk about the episodes of various shows, be they good or bad, based on what was on the screen that week. Behind the scenes goings on occasionally come into play, but rarely to the extent that they do for "Ghost In The Machine." There's a lot of back story to this one, and now that I've seen it I find myself thinking as much about what could have been, as what it is we actually saw. And really, I'm not sure whether or not that's a good thing.

Stargate Atlantis: Be All My Sins Remember'd

Sheppard, McKay, Carter and Ellis

(S04E11) SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ PAST THIS LINE IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS WEEK'S EPISODE. I GIVE YOU FAIR WARNING.

Huh? What? Gah?

What the hell was that at the end of this week's Stargate Atlantis? I'll be honest, I didn't see it coming. Oh, I thought something was going to happen as the scene shifted to the area that the Replicator planet once populated -- I was thinking more along the lines like the nannites rebuilding the planet from scratch, like the Genesis Device from the Star Trek movie series. What I didn't expect was a ship floating amongst all of the planetary debris. And I certainly didn't expect the person sitting in the command chair to be someone fans thought dead as a doornail.

Stargate Atlantis: The Return, Part 1

Intrepid order breakers off to Pegasus to save the day
(S03E10) Like SG-1, Atlantis is having their own mid-season finale before taking a little break. I enjoyed this one. My two week old snored her way through it perched on my chest, but she's not quite up to writing her own reviews just yet. Richard Dean Anderson reappeared for this one, but now he's probably a replicator prisoner. Don't they realize what he can do with a roll of duct tape?

Stargate Atlantis: Progeny

OMG are those Ancients?
(S03E05) Whoa. This episode is a total mind trip. Investigation of an old Atlantean research station results in the discovery of what seems to be a planet full of Ancients. When the team gates through, at first they think that they've returned to their own gate room. In truth, they've come to a giant city.

This city is friggin' huge. Not only do they have their own Atlantis style ship, they've got a giant settlement. As Weir tries to make some diplomatic agreements, she discovers that their leader is about as arrogant as Right Said Fred without a shirt. When our heroes decide to take their leave, they're detained and jailed. As soon as they're brought some food, they make their move and escape. A short grand theft Jumper, quick gate dial and they're clear.... Until Shep wakes up with one of their new friends hands stuck in his head.
