Catch that new show on TV Land?

No, this isn't a trick question: According to Variety, the purveyor of classic TV has ordered nine episodes of the original scripted series 'Retired at 35,' set to launch during the first quarter of 2011. The episodes will reportedly air during the network's "TV Land Prime" time slot.

George Segal ('Just Shoot Me') stars in the comedy series, about a party-loving retiree whose 35-year-old son David (Johnathan McClain) decides to quit the rat race and move into his Florida retirement home with him. Casey Wilson ('Saturday Night Live'), Jessica Walter ('Arrested Development') and Tony winner Christine Ebersole co-star as Segal's character's daughter, ex-wife and potential love interest, respectively.

'Hot in Cleveland,' starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick as best friends from Los Angeles whose flight to Paris makes an unscheduled landing in Ohio, has gotten a 10-episode order from TV Land. The 40-something ladies, who are all at a crossroads in their lives, end up staying when they discover how glamorous the Cleveland citizenry finds them.

The legendary Betty White plays the brassy, one-liner-prone owner of the property that the ladies rent. The show will begin airing this June.

TV Land taps television's vintage hottie vault for new sitcom

by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 12th 2010 3:30PM

TV Land has officially jumped into the cable sitcom party, even if they showed up just as the hangovers are starting to set in. And for their first venture, they have enlisted the help of some of television's tastiest babes.

Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time), Jane Leeves (Frasier), Wendy Malick (Just Shoot Me) and Betty White (The Golden Girls) have been brought on board to star in Hot for Cleveland, the second sitcom project approved by the cable network. That's right, Betty White is a TV hottie. I will fight ANYONE who makes fun of me for it.

The other show commissioned by TV Land is Retired at 35, and has lined up actor George Segal, Christine Ebersole and SNL alum Casey Wilson, her first role since she was abruptly pumped from the sketch show. Given TV Land's horrible choices in making their own reality shows, do these even have a chance of being a hit?

George Segal Heads to TV Land's 'Retired at 35'

by Jane Boursaw, posted Nov 16th 2009 12:30PM
George SegalAt an age when many actors would be thinking about slowing down, George Segal continues to set the bar high in both TV and film. The 'Just Shoot Me' alum is returning to the small screen in a starring role on TV Land's half-hour pilot, 'Retired at 35.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story follows a successful young businessman who decides to leave the New York fast lane and move into his father's Florida retirement home. Don't look for Segal's character, the father, to be sitting around playing Canasta, though. He'll play a former insurance executive who's all about partying and having fun.
