by Jason Hughes, posted May 4th 2011 6:05AM
Ricky Martin, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Ricky Martin is aware that a lot of people weren't surprised when he finally came out and announced he was gay. As detailed in his autobiography, 'Me,' it was more about his own internal struggles.

"What I was feeling, according to what I had in my mind, was evil," he told Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) referring to societal and religious expectations.

What made his early struggles with his sexuality more difficult was when he was the Ricky Martin of 'Livin' La Vida Loca' fame. "I was the sex symbol and I needed to dance and I needed to make girls crazy and I couldn't say that I was gay," he said. "It was a lot of struggle."

'Chelsea Lately' Panel Discusses Ricky Martin Coming Out (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 30th 2010 4:09AM
Chelsea Lately, Ricky Martin Comes OutIs it news that Ricky Martin is gay? Guess so, since he just officially announced it, but let's face it: Is there anyone who thought he wasn't gay?

Chelsea Handler and her panel on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) had some fun with the news. Handler's actually a big proponent of gays; she's got her staff homosexual extraordinaire Guy Branum, after all.

But she does have a point about Martin having to change the name of his hit song to "He Bangs."

General Hospital celebrates 45th anniversary

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 22nd 2008 11:32AM
GH logoHas it really been 45 years since General Hospital started broadcasting? Four decades + five years of medical machinations, legendary love stories, action and intrigue. Yes, yes, it's true, on April 1, ABC's General Hospital will celebrate 45 years on the air. Current executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, will cut the cake and members of the cast will blow out the candles, but we're the ones that probably should be smiling. Memories of the great years gone by are inevitable with any show that's run as long as GH. But there's something special about this ABC soap.

First it was The Jacksons, now it's The Menudos

by Richard Keller, posted Apr 21st 2007 10:31AM

Menudo is returning in a reality seriesLate last week we reported that The Jackson family, sans Michael and Janet, were developing their own American Idol-style reality program titled Pop Dynasty. Now it turns out that another musical group is returning for an, um, American Idol-style reality program. Does anyone have an original thought in their minds out there?

The group is Menudo. You remember them, don't you? They were the 80's boy band that introduced the world to Ricky Martin. They were also famous for rotating their band members out when they got older or their voices changed. Kind of like a pop-rock Logan's Run. The old members of the band aren't reuniting. Instead, according to USA Today, seven boys are being picked from around the country to star in the new series The Road to Menudo. Hey, wasn't that the last Bing Crosby-Bob Hope road film?

Candidates are being judged by Johnny Wright, who managed the mega-boy bands New Kids on the Block, 'NSync and the Backstreet Boys, as well Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough. The show will begin airing next month on MTV Tr3s, MTV's bilingual Latin-American channel.
