On 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Robert Downey Jr. had some good news and some bad news. First, the good news: He'd like to have a baby girl.

Or, as the actor put it, he wants to be "waist-deep in doo-doo" in eighteen months. Translated, Robert was saying he hopes to have another child with his wife Susan, within a year and a half.

That was the good news. Robert also confessed to Jay Leno that while he continues to stay away from drugs and alcohol, he has started smoking cigarettes again.

'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy won't pipe down, but will he listen?

A new leak happens nearly every week about 'Glee' guest stars. John Stamos! 'Rocky Horror' originals Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf! And Britney Spears (pictured at right, with Murphy and 'Glee's goddess of deadpan, Heather Morris).

So, Mr. Murphy, we herewith modestly propose a few out-there guest stars for your consideration, all sure to keep tongues wagging and the show humming.

We'd like to have Ross Mathews' brain for a day, just to see what it's like to be so happy all the time. He was having a blast interviewing stars on the red carpet at the Oscars for 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

And the stars didn't quite know what to think of him either, or maybe they were just trying to think of something equally witty to say. The look on Robert Downey, Jr.'s face when Matthews suggested he play him in a movie was priceless.

When I talked with Ricky Gervais a few weeks ago, he said his game plan as host of the Golden Globes was to keep things rolling and have fun with it. He also said comedians are "meant to push the barriers a little bit and see what happens."

He definitely pushed a few barriers on the Golden Globes last night, taking potshots at Paul McCartney's marital troubles, Kiefer Sutherland's anger management issues, and Angelina Jolie's penchant for adopting children from Third World countries (too much, given the dire crisis in Haiti?)

Even Mel Gibson's alcohol troubles came up. Gervais appeared on stage drinking a beer as he introduced his next presenter. "Don't get me wrong," he said. "I like a drink as much as the next man, unless the next man is ... Mel Gibson."

Overall, Gervais' hosting skills fell a little flat for me. Next year, I suggest that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association consider Robert Downey Jr. as host of the Golden Globes. His Best Actor speech for Sherlock Holmes was inspired, funny and charming.

The new action-oriented reboot of Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey, Jr. is making a killing at the box office -- and rightfully so. It stays true enough to its source material while injecting just enough quirky energy into Holmes' world to update the franchise.

But, here's hoping the movie's success leads some folks back to rediscover the single greatest production of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories -- the Granada and PBS Sherlock Holmes series of the 80s.

To most Holmes fans, Jeremy Brett (right) was the perfect actor playing the role he was born to fill. He had the look, the voice and the mannerisms most readers envisioned when reading "The Red Headed League" or "The Speckled Band."

Allison told you yesterday that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will host the Oscars in 2010. But you probably guessed that others were considered too, right? Three of the people below turned down the gig. Can you guess who they were?

Thank you Associated Press, not just for making the most sound choice for Entertainer of the Year since Stephen Colbert, but for giving me another excuse to do a Google image search of Tina Fey cheesecake photos. And I didn't even get them anything for Christmas.

Broadcast producers and newspaper editors -- who weren't busy safeguarding their pensions and 401Ks by burying what's left of them in the desert -- cast their votes in the AP's annual Entertainer of the Year Poll. The honors went to 30 Rock star and SNL lifeguard Tina Fey.

It's really the no-brainer choice. Sharon Eberson, entertainment editor for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, told the wire service, "She gave us funny when we really needed it and, in a year when women in politics were making huge strides, Fey stood out in the world of entertainment."

If there were a way to completely stop people on the Internet from saying, "Why do you keep watching this? Saturday Night Live hasn't been good since the days of Gildaphil Belushikroyd Normfeyrrell!", I would punch that button (or that person). Thinking a little more optimistically, there can always be better days ahead, for SNL is forever renewable, with an ever changing cast and crew. The thing that gets the fastest turn-over is the host, who has the opportunity to bring something new and exciting from week to week.

Now that the so-so 33rd season is over, I like to pretend everyone at SNL has kicked aside all the beach time and BBQ invites to plan something exciting for their return. Picking good hosts is an important part of having a successful season, so I've compiled my own list of nine people that must host, just in case SNL decides to re-work the entire show based on blog responses. I'm just covering all my bases, all right?

(S07E42) Forty-two episodes later we're finally ready to find out who is going to take home the crown of the next American Idol. Look at all those faces up there, and now it's all come down to the Davids. The lingering question is if they're going to be Idols the likes of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson; sales in the millions with mantles full of awards; or will they find mainstream success more of a challenge, like Taylor Hicks or Justin Guarini (I know he came in second but let's face it, at this point first and second are almost interchangeable as far as getting a shot at a career)? The show's an hour early and an hour longer, clocking in from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM Eastern Time. That means you have two hours to chat live right here with your friends and frenemies about which David should win and how stupid they are for disagreeing with you.

The actor made a deal with the Amazon company CustomFlix Labs to make every episode of the show available to fans in a number of ways. You could go the usual route and buy each season (there were four seasons total) or buy the complete set for around $42.99. But the cool part is this: you can actually buy single episode DVDs! They go for around $10.00 each. But wait it doesn't stop there (great, I'm turning into a informercial guy): you can actually customize your DVDs with your favorite episodes. Check out Favreau's.

Which of these things is not like the other: Al Pacino, Don Cheadle, Robert Downey, Jr., Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, and... Tim Allen? Bravo is touting all of these actors' upcoming appearances with James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio (a title that is screaming for an apostrophe!). Hanks will be the first actor to make a second appearance in the Studio, while Dustin Hoffman will be the Studio's 200th celebrity guest. No air dates are set, but the network says they'll appear this spring.

While most of the names are impressive, they might also be a bit boring. My favorite guest was Mike Myers, who did all sorts of voices and had some fun at Lipton's expense.
