Chelsea Clinton Makes Her Debut as an NBC Special Correspondent (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 13th 2011 7:35AM
Last night Chelsea Clinton made her debut as an NBC News special correspondent. The former First Daughter appeared on 'Nightly News With Brian Williams' to introduce her 'Making a Difference' segment, which aired in full later on 'Rock Center.'So, how did she do? Pretty well, as it turned out. Chatting to Williams she was poised and confident, with perhaps just a hint of nerves underlying her banter.
Clinton's report featured the work of Annette Dove, who helps underprivileged children in Pine Bluff, Ark. With food, shelter and tutoring, Dove provides a safety net for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
Check out Clinton's debut after the jump. And listen closely: When she said, "Thank you Brian, I'm very happy to be here," did somebody in the studio clap?

Monday night Bob Costas interviewed former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky about his alleged inappropriate contact with young boys and the subsequent 40-count criminal indictment he now faces. The interview on NBC news magazine show 'Rock Center' took many by complete surprise, including Costas.Speaking on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' Tuesday, Costas said that he was in a Manhattan TV studio prepping for an interview with Sandusky's attorney, Joseph Amendola, when, "no more than ten, fifteen minutes before the cameras were to roll, Amendola says, 'What if I can get Sandusky on the phone?'"

Last night while ABC aired its exclusive interview with Gabrielle Giffords, NBC's 'Rock Center' aired its own exclusive as Bob Costas talked to former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky and his attorney. Discussing allegations against him of sexual abuse dating back to 1994, Sandusky -- who has been charged on a 40-count indictment -- protested his innocence. The interview made for uncomfortable viewing at times, with Sandusky admitting that he had, at least, made some highly questionable choices in his interaction with children. When Costas asked if he was "completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect?" Sandusky replied "I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg. Without," he added, "intent of sexual contact."
