Let me start by apologizing for this post. I can't stand this commercial. It's a Gap holiday special which is called Talk to the Moose. I don't know why. There's no Rocky and Bullwinkle in the spot and no references to Northern Exposure. I might have liked the commercial if it had made some shout out to two of my TV faves.

Instead we have adorable little girls frolicking in winter wear. I have nothing against the little ladies. Like I said, they're adorable. They really make those sweaters work, so kudos to Gap for showing off their products in a positive way. If only the singing were as positive.

Wossamotta U? You didn't know that Thursday, Nov. 19, marks the 50th anniversary of all things Bullwinkle?

The dimwitted but beloved moose, along with flying squirrel pal Rocky, foes Boris and Natasha, 'Fractured Fairy Tales' and 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman,' debuted in 1959 on ABC's 'Rocky & His Friends,' a twice-a-week afternoon series that moved to primetime when it shifted to NBC and became 'The Bullwinkle Show' in 1961.

The series was created by Jay Ward, the U.C. Berkeley and Harvard grad who also created the Cap'n Crunch character. And though "moose and squir-rel," as baddies Boris and Natasha so often referred to them, are beloved today, Ward's daughter Tiffany Ward -- who was 11 when her dad created Bullwinkle and his buddies -- says the show wasn't a ratings smash during its original run.

(S03E04) That pesky Detective Paxson of the Miami PD continued to be a thorn in Michael's side, to the point that Michael decided it was time to extract her from his life. To get Paxson -- one royal pain in the butt who doesn't believe that Michael's one of the good guys -- Michael concocts a plan to help her close her case against Rick Matheson, a real bad guy.

Matheson was a one-note Rock look-alike, without Dwayne Johnson's charm. Mostly Matheson was a scumbag who deserved to be brought down.

Tommy, on the other hand, wasn't really a nasty moke. He was broadly hammed up by former NYPD Blue star Nick Turturro, and turned out to be Michael's way into Matheson's organization.
