'Sexiest Man Alive 2011': Which TV Stars Made the Cut?
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 17th 2011 6:05AM
Bradley Cooper's been celebrating being named as 'People' magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011.' After saying his first thought on hearing the news was, "My mother is going to be so happy," the buff 'Hangover' star joked "I'm waiting for Dax Shepard to come out, and that it's an episode of 'Punk'd.'"Cooper added: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. ... I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."
So which TV stars have been deemed hot enough to join Cooper on the list? Well, there are some conventional hotties like 'Luther' star Idris Elba, 'Community's Joel McHale and 'Game of Thrones' glowering Horse Lord Jason Momoa, but there are also a few guys who are, well, perhaps less obviously hot in the conventional sense.
Ron Swanson Knows How to Profit from the End of the World on 'Parks & Rec' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 4th 2011 2:00AM
It was the end of the world this week on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC). We found it rather charming that the Parks Department of Pawnee is so gracious and cordial to this group of fanatics who calculate the end of the world regularly, rescheduling each time the world doesn't end as predicted.Ron Swanson has even found a way to profit from their zealous conviction. He brought with him some flutes and recorders he'd fashioned at home in his wood shop, and charged exorbitant prices to the believers.
His look to the camera when one of them slyly asked if he'd take a check he could deposit tomorrow -- after the world ended, of course -- was absolutely priceless.
Ron Swanson Is No Longer His Own Man on 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 30th 2011 12:45AM
Ron Swanson is one of the manliest men to ever appear on television. His mustache alone has become the stuff of TV legend, which made his transformation on this week's 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC) all the more tragic. For the second time in series history, an ex-wife named Tammy has proven able to completely transform his behavior. Only this time, she completely emasculated him. First of all, Ron without a mustache is a frightening thing to behold, but then he passed on yelling about government spending?
Ron Swanson's Facial Hair Takes Center Stage in 'Parks & Recreation' Season 4
by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 12th 2011 11:00AM
When Season 4 of 'Parks and Recreation' kicks off, expect a supporting player to shine: Ron Swanson's prodigious facial hair.Yes, that epic and oh-so manly mustache will be featured prominently in the fourth season of the hit NBC comedy.
"The current plan is for Ron's facial hair to go through a lot of changes in the first few episodes," Mike Schur, 'Parks and Rec.' executive producer, told TV Guide. "He'll have several different looks in the first few episodes if things stay the way they're planned. Honestly, it wasn't our goal -- to send Ron's facial hair through its own arc -- but we pitched these stories for him involving Tammy 1 and all these other things and we found ourselves in this funny situation where a lot of the ways that we wanted to tell the story of what was happening to him involved his facial hair -- as it should, probably, when you have someone with facial hair as distinctive as Nick's."
'Parks and Recreation' - 'Park Safety' Recap

(S02E19) How do you guys feel about Jerry? As amusing as it is to see Leslie, the moral center of the show, make fun of someone, the whole "ridiculing Jerry 24-7" thing makes me kind of uncomfortable. He acknowledges that he gets made fun of, but unlike PIerce on 'Community,' he doesn't seem in on the joke at all.
Mark pops in toward the end of this episode to make a good point: Leslie's problem is that one of her employees would make up a story about a mugging because he's afraid of his co-workers' reactions. With that said, "What would you do for a Klondike bar? Kill your wife?" was pretty freakin' hilarious.
'Parks and Recreation' - 'The Possum' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Mar 12th 2010 1:02AM
(S02E18) I miss the pit. It's been a while since we've heard anything about it, so it was nice to have it mentioned again. Even though Leslie may not have her favor with the mayor's office (I guess she'll just have to live with an un-laminated bus pass), I'd like to see something happen with the now-filled-in giant hole in the ground.Leslie clearly has more important things on her plate, like possum-wrangling. The whole task force thing could have been just ridiculous, and don't get me wrong-- it was, but there was one thing that saved it: the fact that there was an actual possum running around on Andy's neck. How he didn't just vomit to death, I'll never know. Chris Pratt deserves a raise though.
'Parks and Recreation' - 'Galentine's Day' Recap

(S02E16) Ron Swanson nailed it tonight. I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with Justin (Justin Theroux), and Swanson summed it up perfectly: he's a tourist. Justin is really only interested in stories. It's been bugging me the entire time he's been on the show, because he seems like a perfectly nice guy in some scenes and a total jerk in others -- but now it all comes together. Also nailing it? Andy's band. I not only loved his songs (I would totally make them my Valentine's soundtrack), but I enjoyed his befuddlement with the entire situation and his frustration with not being able to tell if the gig was a success or not, due to the lack of ladies flashing him.
Nick Offerman Really Does Have a Woodshop
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 8th 2010 5:02PM

On last week's 'Parks and Recreation' we saw Ron Swanson prove to Leslie how much of a tolerance he has for alcohol: he finished building a small harp in his woodshop while downing a bunch of whiskey. Power tools, precise measurements, minute tuning, the whole works. He even showed her photographic evidence (above).
When I spoke to Nick Offerman at the press tour, he told me that the show would be getting a look inside Swanson's woodshop. When he talked about the prospect, his eyes lit up and said, "I'm very excited about it." Well, now we know why: Offerman owns his own woodshop, and has a website full of examples of his and his crew's work. They make some very nice furniture, and they also build small structures and canoes.
Review: 'Parks and Recreation'- 'Sweetums'
by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 5th 2010 12:16AM
(S02E15) I have no idea why, out of all the controversies in the world right now, that the folks at 'Parks and Recreation' decided to tackle corn syrup, but I loved it. This was actually a well-done episode about something that many people consider to be a problem: companies taking over vending machines in places like schools and other public places. Even though it actually had a bit of a message, it still managed to be hilarious.Leslie is kind of everybody's mom: whether it's not letting Ron drink and drive (drinking and harp assembly is another matter entirely), or helping Anne educate Pawnee about the dangers of kids becoming fat, happy and docile by shoving high-fructose corn syrup bars into their gaping maws. She's just trying to make her little part of the world a better place, and it's endearing.
Review: Parks and Recreation - Leslie's House
by Kona Gallagher, posted Jan 22nd 2010 12:29AM

(S02E15) So, Leslie's still a little bit crazy, huh? Have we really never seen the inside of her house before? That seems kind of weird to me, but I don't think the writers would have randomly made her a hoarder if we had been in a previously clean place. Anyway, I love how they used her messy house to set up the procession of rec center teachers coming into her house to help with the dinner party. I love it when Leslie's personal life is at odds with her professional one. She wants to do the right thing all of the time, but she is only human after all, and Justin is really hot.
Review: Parks and Recreation - Hunting Trip
by Kona Gallagher, posted Nov 19th 2009 10:56PM
(S02E10) This episode is nice, because Leslie finally gets what she's wanted since the very beginning of the series: to be one of the guys. I know I talk about this a lot, but it's just because the writers have done such an exceptional job: I love how Leslie is actually competent in some areas, instead of being the bumbling fool they wrote her as at the beginning of the first season. When she says she's an excellent hunter, it's not just self-delusion: she's actually an excellent hunter. Well, we really don't see enough to determine whether or not she's "excellent," but she totally bagged a quail on her first try and she didn't shoot Ron in the head, so she's at least pretty good compared to the rest of her hunting party.
Parks & Recreation: The Banquet
by Jason Hughes, posted May 8th 2009 1:28AM
(S01E05) Man, Leslie Knope is a dope. But Tom is the bomb! Okay, I'm sorry. There's no excuse for that kind of crap. Still, though, Tom was hilarious in his speech to Leslie's mother, who will always be Jericho's Gail Green to me, at the banquet. Certainly it was smoother than Leslie's. But then Ron's speech of facts was better than Leslie's painful attempt at name-dropping.It's amazing that Leslie and her mother are related, considering how vastly different they are. Her mother is shrewd and calculating, and clearly willing to muck around in the dirt to further her own agenda (i.e. a politician), while Leslie is an optimistic do-gooder who's more heart than smart ... oh crap, I did it again, didn't I?
