Anna Vs. Anastasia and Diana, on 'Russian Dolls' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 16th 2011 7:50AM
'Russian Dolls'This week on 'Russian Dolls' (Thu., 11PM ET on Lifetime) there was yet more cursing, more yelling and more catfighting. Can't these women ever just get along?

Anna's feud with Diana bleeds over into her relationship with Anastasia and in the blink of an eye they're not friends any more.

We just love the way how, as Anna and Anastasia go at it in the bathroom, Diana totally stays out of it, calmly touching up her -- frankly epic -- makeup, only to step in once the fight is basically over and conclude it in her own way.

As Anna flounces out of the bathroom, Diana disappears into a cubicle amid sounds of running water, and says "Everything she just said has been flushed down the toilet!"

Anastasia Has Meltdown at Salon Hosting a Competition on 'Russian Dolls' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 9th 2011 3:40AM
'Russian Dolls'Anastasia should spend some more time watching 'America's Next Top Model.' Then she might learn that attitude goes a long way in the modeling world. Hers was an absolute mess, and it cost her on 'Russian Dolls' (Thu., 11:30PM ET on Lifetime).

She was competing in a calendar girl competition, but completely "flipping her s***," as Anna called it, certainly didn't help her out. It was at the salon sponsoring the competition that Anastasia decided what the stylist was doing would make her look like a poodle.

She, of course, had no way of knowing this for sure, but insisted she was right and started crying and absolutely freaking out. The salon owner found her behavior disrespectful, and as it turned out her hair looked fine.

Marina and Sveta Fight Over Money and Pigs in Blankets on 'Russian Dolls' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 2nd 2011 6:00PM
Sveta isn't happy with the pigs in the blanket on 'Russian Dolls'Remember that fight Marina Levitis mentioned the other day on 'Good Day New York?' The one she said wasn't over, almost became physical, and involved money? We finally got to see how ugly things got between Sveta and Marina on 'Russian Dolls' (Thursdays, 11:10PM on Lifetime).

Levitis and her husband own the nightclub/restaurant Rasputin, and they had a bartering agreement with Sveta and her husband, who own a jewelry store. Sveta would get service from Rasputin and Levitis would get a piece of jewelry worth $2,000. But Sveta didn't think the pigs in a blanket Rasputin served were worth the $2,000, and balked on the deal.

'Russian Dolls' Star Previews Big Fight, Defends Show Against Backlash (VIDEO)

Marina Levitis of 'Russian Dolls' on 'Good Day New York'On 'Russian Dolls,' Lifetime gives the scandal-driven reality treatment to Brooklyn's Russian-American community in Brighton Beach. That means lots of fighting, especially on one particular upcoming episode, Marina Levitis said on 'Good Day New York' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox). And that doesn't make everyone in Brighton Beach very happy.

"It's gonna be a very big fight," Levitis promised. "We're talking about, not physical, but almost. Very big argument, over money, over business. Very real. And this argument to this day is not resolved. We still don't speak."

Anastasia Not Getting the Support She Wants From Mom on 'Russian Dolls' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 26th 2011 5:39AM
'Russian Dolls'After five years of college, Anastasia has finallly decided what she wants to do with her life on 'Russian Dolls' (Thu., 11:30PM ET on Lifetime). At least for now. Law is a really solid choice, right?

After paying for and supporting her daughter through the first five years, which haven't really gone anywhere except through several degree problems, Anastasia's mother dared to ask how she was planning to pay for this?

Anastasia took this as a sign that her mother was never proud of her, and insisted that she fully intended to pay for her own loans. It was an awkward encounter, with Anastasia cursing out her mother, who simply stood there and took it.

Eddie's Low Blow Sends Anna Off in Tears on 'Russian Dolls' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 19th 2011 6:10AM
'Russian Dolls'Television can teach you things. Just like 'Jersey Shore' is teaching us -- Well, we're still not sure what we're learning from that show, but 'Russian Dolls' (Thu., 10PM ET on Lifetime) is teaching us about Russian culture.

This week we learned that you do not discuss a man's financial situation. Anna cracked a joke at Eddie's expense that he didn't have any money, after he said he'd put his money on Anastasia in a fight between the two women.

"Believe me, I got more money than you, you fake model," he said. "Your little modeling school with twelve-year olds is nothing." Anna runs a modeling school, so Eddie's digs hurt her particularly hard and she left in tears.

Diana Dumps Paul Because He's Not Russian on the 'Russian Dolls' Premiere (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Aug 12th 2011 1:45AM
Russian Dolls - DianaThe course of true love (or casual dating) never did run smooth, and apparently a Russian dating a non-Russian makes things even bumpier, according to 'Russian Dolls' (Thurs., 10PM ET on Lifetime).

The new show follows the trials and tribulations of eight Russian-Americans living in Brooklyn's Brighton Beach neighborhood, but time will tell if it plans to go the way of 'Jersey Shore'.

Episode one introduced us to (among others) Diana, a blonde 23 year-old who has aspirations of marrying by the time she's 25. Unfortunately for her boyfriend Paul, a Spaniard, her husband criteria seemed to be fairly narrow: Russian.

'Russian Dolls' Star Promises to Put Brighton Beach & Partying, Russian Style, on the Map

Marina Levitis, Russian DollsWhile the 'Jersey Shore' kids get their GTL on in Italy tonight, Lifetime will broadcast the adventures of another subset of American culture: the animal print-clad characters of Brooklyn's Russian-American Brighton Beach neighborhood.

'Russian Dolls' (premieres Thu., Aug. 11, 10:30PM ET on Lifetime) was originally conceived as another addition to the 'Real Housewives' franchise, but since Lifetime picked up the show it's been getting comparisons to our favorite Macaroni Rascals.

Star Marina Levitis seems to bridge the gap between 'Jersey Shore' and 'Housewives.' The 34-year-old is raising two children, a 13-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, with her husband, Michael, but is intimately familiar with the nightlife as co-owner of the famous Russian nightclub Rasputin, located in Brighton Beach.

The soon-to-be reality star, who immigrated to America 20 years ago, called AOL TV while en route to a photo shoot for Steppin' Out magazine -- she's going to be on the cover -- and chatted about how she became involved in the show, whether 'Russian Dolls' actually is anything like 'Jersey Shore,' and what her kids think about the TV cameras following them around.

'Russian Dolls' Wants to Be the New 'Jersey Shore'

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 26th 2011 3:00PM
Russian DollsProduction on an all-Russian version of 'Jersey Shore' began last year shortly after MTV's infamous Seaside Heights kids infected the entirety of pop culture with their faux-Italian herpes.

And who could blame someone from wanting to cash in on the Macaroni Rascals' success? Lifetime was the lucky network that ended up greenlighting the new reality series, set in the Russian enclave of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. The show follows similarly tanned, high-maintenance men and women as they ... well, we're not quite sure what they do.

Judging from this short promo there'll be lots of drinking and fighting when 'Russian Dolls' debuts Aug. 11 at 10:30PM. What else do we need, really?

Watch the clip below.
