Entering into its fourth season (and second since the NBC/DirecTV deal), Friday Night Lights is a show in transition on numerous levels. The high school football drama returns tonight to DirecTV's 101 Network at 9 p.m. ET (NBC won't air this season until next summer) and for fans of the show, it's an episode they've long been waiting for.

Ever since the season three finale, as Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his wife Tami (Connie Britton) stepped on to the East Dillon Lions decrepit football field, Eric's new home, the tension has been at an all time high in Dillon, Texas. How can Coach Taylor, a man whom many consider to be a high school football wunderkind, start from scratch with a team that doesn't even exist yet?

(S04E01/S04E02) "Yeah well, a lot of people that believed in me in the last few months Agent Self... not all of them are alive today." - Scofield

I've always loved Prison Break. I still do. We're four seasons deep now and I've fully accepted the fact that this show is constantly reinventing itself and as a result, the level of ridiculousness that you as a viewer need to be willing to eat is absurd. I'm not sure if I laughed louder when T-Bag adopted a cannibalistic lifestyle or Linc called the new guy Roland a douche. Oh right... and Sara is alive. So don't act surprised by the picture. But we knew that anyway. FOX didn't even try to keep that one a secret for us.

(S04E02) "Simple question Lexie. Are you an idiot or a stalker?" - Meredith

Well that certainly made up for last week's crappy excuse for a season premiere. It actually felt like old school Grey's Anatomy. The pacing was frantic, the dialogue was snappy, and nothing was overly dramatic or cheesy. Everything was just even for a change. Well... almost everything. I can't stand George and Izzie. Yes folks, Gizzie makes me sick. It's awkward and makes me cringe. I see Gizzie getting all kissy-kissy and I make the same face that I make when I see an overweight person at the mall food-court, shoving fries into their mouth. It disturbs me, but at the same time, I accept it because I know they can't help it. George and Izzie just can't help it either and now they're evolving. George wants to tell Callie! It's like watching a new technology develop. I've seen the future. Gizzie is dead. Behold: iGeorge.

(S04E01) "Because I hate owing you." - Colby

Yeah, yeah... I know. Here it is, the end of the the fall premiere week and I'm blogging about a show that only seven months ago I said I was done with. "It's bland" I decried, and it's lost the spark that originally drew me in. So what am I doing here? Well, despite the fact that I stopped writing about Numb3rs, I'm a sucker for pretty much anything on TV. (Case in point? I reviewed the entire first season of Dirt!) That's right. I put my pen down and I watched Don and Charlie's antics for the whole rest of the third season anyway. And you know what? I sort of got sucked back in. Last season's finale was right up there but I still bit my tongue when I considered throwing up a post. I knew I'd end up being negative despite the fact that I enjoyed it. So I here I am, starting from scratch, attempting once again to remember why I liked this show in the first place.

(S04E01) "I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one. Don't bother sucking up. I already hate you. That's not going to change." - Cristina

It's baaaack. OK, brief moment of excitement gone. Were you as unimpressed by this as I was? Look... it wasn't bad, but for a season premiere, that was pretty weak. It felt awkward and out of place, like no one knew where they were supposed to be. Stylistically, maybe that was the point. But it didn't translate for me. I love Grey's Anatomy. It's the Top Gun of TV shows. Everybody likes it. At this point though, going into the fourth season we all know the potential of this show and what it's capable of. I guess I just expected more and maybe that's my own fault for setting the bar too high. Call me crazy, but the losses of Burke and Addison and the addition of fifteen (George doesn't count) new socially inept interns didn't cut it for me.

I have to say, a two week season hiatus for a show like Entourage might be the best thing ever. Granted, once this season ends we probably won't see new episodes for another two years... but hey, live in the moment. What we got though was something special, unlike anything Entourage has tackled in its previous 42 episodes. A documentary look at the making of Vincent Chase's latest feature. A blend of the humor we've come to expect from this show was merged with a heavy dose of reality and drama -- what goes into making a film under the harshest of conditions. It's a layer of the show that we haven't seen before and I hope that it can continue when the normal format returns next week.

(S04E01) "You've got the whole tool-box going! Booze! Penises! I mean, I can't believe that I'm finally the moral compass in this family!" -Tommy

And on the eighth day, He created drunken Irish firefighters with potentially illegitimate children and mouths like sailors. That's how the Bible reads, right? Wait... it isn't? Well it should, because right now Rescue Me is just about as close to a religious experience as you can get without stepping into a church. It's downright mesmerizing and if you ask me, it easily earns the title of "best summer show." Now that June is upon us, not much else on TV compares to Rescue Me and tonight's season four premiere was proof. I covered some of the general plot points in my early review last week, but now that we've all seen this spectacular episode, let's be honest -- there's a lot to talk about.

(S04E01) The OC is back with a vengeance... big time. After what I think most considered to be a lackluster third season, I think both die-hard and casual fans are going to be impressed with what this show still has to offer. We pick up five months after the death of Marissa Cooper and everyone, especially Julie and Ryan, has had to adjust their lives in the wake of her passing. Corny as it sounds, nothing is going to be the same.

(S04E01) Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else find it hard to believe that we're already beginning the fourth season of Nip/Tuck? I feel like this show just started yesterday and here we are on the 45th episode of this spectacular series. I guess time flies when you're having fun. And by "fun" I mean boob jobs, unprotected sex, and botox. Lots of botox.
