'Smallville' Actor Sam Jones Heading to Prison

by PopEater Staff, posted Jun 23rd 2011 9:30AM
Sam JonesSam Jones III, known for his work on 'Smallville' and 'ER' has been sentenced to a year in prison for his role in a drug ring.

TMZ is reporting that Jones plead guilty to conspiracy to sell more than 10,000 pills of Oxycodone, a painkiller, and was sentenced to 366 days in prison, even though the prosecutor wanted him to serve 5 years.

It is reported that before sentencing Jones pleaded with the judge to show mercy explaining that he had lost everything including his dog, car and his acting role in 'Blue Mountain State' due to the drugs charges.

The judge showed leniency and said he was cutting the actor a break due to his "minor" role in the drug deal.

E! Online is reporting that in addition to the jail term, the judge has ordered that Jones to serve three years supervised probation once he's released from a jail.

Spike TV Renews 'Blue Mountain State'

by Aimee Deeken, posted Feb 26th 2010 12:45PM
Ed MarianoThe 'Blue Mountain State' football team will play another season, as Spike TV has renewed the sitcom, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The half-hour comedy, produced by Lionsgate TV, is little more than halfway through its first season and averaging about 1 million viewers (last week's episode drew 810,000).

'State' follows the antics of three freshman at a big football-centric Midwestern university. Of its star players, Sam Jones III (teammate Craig Shilo) is not expected to return for season 2 due to his arrest in October. The ex-'Smallville' actor (Clark Kent's BFF) was detained by federal authorities on charges of alleged possession and intent to sell 10,000 oxycodone pills. No word yet on whether his role will be recast.

Oxycodone update: today, a former Smallville star gets arrested

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 21st 2009 6:33PM
Sam Jones IIIYesterday we told you that Big Brother winner Adam Jasinski was arrested for trying to sell oxycodone pills that he had bought with some of his winnings from the CBS reality show (I'm going to assume he didn't spend all of the $500,000 on the pills, but who knows), and now we have another TV personality involved with the drug.

Sam Jones III, who you might remember as Clark Kent's best friend Pete from Smallville and Pratt's younger brother Chaz on ER, was arrested this morning on charges of attempting to deal 10,000 oxycodone pills. The official charge is "conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute." The plot was major, says the DEA, and Jones has been called "the Hollywood connection."

Stay tuned the rest of the week for what I'm sure will be daily updates on Hollywood stars who are involved with oxycodone. Maybe we should start a category for it.
