Ellen Pompeo Says She'll Stay on 'Grey's Anatomy' if She's Wanted

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 6th 2011 7:20AM
Ellen PompeoIt seems as though behind-the-scenes contract wrangling is continuing to dog ABC medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy.'

Earlier this summer Patrick Dempsey seemed confused as to whether McDreamy's coming or going, and now Ellen Pompeo says she could be persuaded to stay on after the upcoming season 8.

Pompeo told TV Guide that she's open to the idea of continuing to play Meredith, but that her contract will soon expire and no one's actually asked her to stay on. "I would love the opportunity to discuss it," she says.

"I would never turn up my nose at 'Grey's.' ... If I hear from the fans that they want us to keep going, then I would continue because we owe them everything."

Sandra Oh Teases Her Mother About Moldy Cheese Incident (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jan 13th 2011 7:00AM
Sandra Oh Talks About Her Mom on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Sandra Oh loves her parents, she really does. But she loves making fun of them, too. "Who of you have immigrant parents?" she asked the audience of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). She clarified that they (and/or Koreans) might better relate to the story she was about to share.

After spending 10 days with her family in Vancouver over the holidays, Oh returned to Los Angeles, with her parents in tow. Her mother (who was in the studio audience) discovered a piece of cheese that had been in her luggage for days. Obviously, it had become very moldy.

Oh said, "I hope you tossed it out?!" but she replied, "I cut the mold off, and it's in the fridge." Then in solidarity with her mother, she ate it.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7, Episode 10 Recap (VIDEO)

Cristina attempts fishing.['Grey's Anatomy' - 'Adrift and at Peace']

In an episode that just happened to have Christmas music playing in the background, Derek took Cristina fishing, Meredith and Owen argued, Bailey was still on a search for a solution to fistulas, Callie gained a backbone, and Teddy was given a re-hashed storyline.

This episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' really had nothing to do with Christmas, except for the occasional decor in the hospital. Instead, this episode chugged along with several of the plotlines we've been following this season, without any resolutions in sight.

It was interesting seeing Jamie Chung ('Dragonball Evolution') as one of the patients this week, because I still remember her from when she was on 'The Real World: San Diego.' I know that her part was small and a bit forgettable, but she did show some decent acting chops, so maybe she'll prove more interesting in 'The Hangover Part II.'

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7, Episode 3 Recap

The Seattle Grace cast hangs out at Joes.['Grey's Anatomy' - 'Superfreak']

'Grey's Anatomy' may be making strides toward improving, but this episode was imbalanced. The last five minutes had everything you needed to watch: Derek tried to heal any animosity with Amelia (his sister from 'Private Practice'), April called out Alex, Jackson, Meredith and Lexie on their problems, Mark slept with Amelia to the horror of Lexie, and Callie and Arizona found an interesting way to tell Cristina to move out.

The patients are traditionally the theme of the episode and there wasn't anything strong about the two we met this week. One swallowed a condom and the other had monstrous warts growing out of him. All we got from the characters was that they paralleled April being a virgin and Mark needing to move on.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7, Episode 1 (Season Premiere) Recap

Ahh! Meridith Grey looks like a raccoon!['Grey's Anatomy' -'With You I'm Born Again']

When 'Grey's Anatomy' began on an airplane, part of me wished that it mysteriously changed into 'Lost' and Bailey would be stuck dealing with smoke monsters and Hurley.

This season opener wasn't as attention-grabbing as it could have been. The whole episode was an attempt to go back to the status quo after the dramatic shooting last season. There were constant flashbacks to the shooting and moments that happened within a month of the present episode.

After watching this episode you start to wish that the characters were fleshed-out more. Alex wanted to be bad-ass, Lexie went psycho-crazy,and Bailey went home because she's broken and had broken up with Ben. Callie, Arizona, Mark and Teddy were pushed to the side for now.

Review: 'Grey's Anatomy' - 'State of Love and Trust'

by Michael Pascua, posted Feb 5th 2010 3:05AM
The whole Seattle Grace hospital braces for big news.
(S06E13) There was no reason for 'Grey's Anatomy' to have had a rerun last week. Why didn't the producers start one week later? Either way, Derek takes over Seattle Grace this week as the chief and struggled on his first day. While he managed to figure everything out by the end of the day, it's nice to see Derek's evolution handling the responsibilities.

The Chief, or I guess he's just now demoted to "Richard," struggled with his decision to retire or go to rehab for the whole episode. While Derek, Meredith, and Bailey tried to talk to him, it was all his decision to make the next step. Here's hoping that he comes back stronger than ever.

Review: Grey's Anatomy - I Saw What I Saw

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 23rd 2009 2:02AM
A fight breaks loose on Grey's Anatomy.
(S06E06) There were so many people on screen last week on Grey's Anatomy that I didn't even realize that Mark Sloan wasn't in the whole episode. Luckily for any Mark fan, he becomes an essential character when burn victims show up.

This week, one of many hotel fire victims dies because of negligence; everyone tells their side. The multiple perspectives became more and more difficult to keep up with, because the original Seattle Grace doctors defended each other, while the Mercy West doctors tried to throw any of the Seattle Grace doctors under the bus.

Jane After Dark: Grey's Anatomy season five; Private Practice season two

by Jane Boursaw, posted Oct 4th 2009 10:00AM
Grey's Anatomy, season five dvdWith Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice starting new seasons, I decided to refresh my brain with the previous seasons of these two ABC shows. So this week's Jane After Dark was all about the dreamy doctors.

I've been on board with Private Practice since the beginning, and was especially interested to see what happened with Violet and her baby in the season three premiere. Happy ending there, thank goodness! And while Grey's Anatomy has certainly ebbed and flowed since it began in 2005, I've stuck with it because I've grown to love the dysfunctional characters with all their baggage. It makes my life seem just that much better.

Grey's Anatomy, Season Five

There were parts of this season that drove me a little nuts, like Izzie having "mind-boggling sex" with dead Denny. That whole storyline made me want to jump off a roof, but there were plenty of highlights to the season, as well...

Remember back in the olden days (say, 1994) when you didn't know much about what was going to happen on a TV show before the new season started? Now there aren't just spoilers and behind the scenes footage, but we also have video sneak peeks of entire scenes from an episode.

This is the first five minutes of the September 24 Grey's Anatomy season opener.

Grey's Anatomy: Now or Never (season finale)

T.R. Knight and Chandra Wilson
(S05E24) "If you're not scared, you're not paying attention." - Bailey

I took a few hours off in between last night's two hour Grey's Anatomy finale. I knew it was going to be two posts since it was two episodes and so I sat and watched the first one, wrote it up, grabbed a few hours of sleep, and woke up trying to figure just what was going to happen in this episode before I watched it. Everything was so nicely set up (the first hour really could have served as a finale too) and once again, Grey's Anatomy caught us all off guard with what's arguably its biggest cliffhanger yet.

Grey's Anatomy: Here's to the Future

(S05E23) "I'm your tumor. You're talking to yourself." - Denny

Just when I was finally starting to get sucked back into Grey's Anatomy, when I had finally come to terms with the ridiculous Denny/Izzie sex, when I had finally said, "hey, I actually like where they went with this," he had to come back one more time to ruin it all. After last week, I thought we had seen the last of Denny Duquette. Izzie told him to go and he went. But it's like Denny said - he's Izzie's tumor and as long as she still has the brain lump, Denny's gonna keep getting a tan down at Izzie's imaginary beach. I think I speak collectively for the entire population of Earth when I say thank god Izzie chose to get the surgery.

Grey's Anatomy: No Good at Saying Sorry (One More Chance)

Arizona takes care of a patient.

The 99th episode of Grey's Anatomy has come and past and the last five minutes got to me. There's something gratifying about having all the storylines set to music and every other character in tears. It's definitely setting up for the big 100.

I was a little tense about the storyline of the little girl shooter, but it was written in taste. The girl was creepy since she reminded me of every stereotypical horror movie child, silently staring at the lead characters. Why is Meredith often paired up with killers? I get it, the little girl is supposed to parallel Meredith's relationship with her father or the chief, but she could have just been an ignored daughter and not a shooter whose mother probably handed her the gun.

Grey's Anatomy: Sweet Surrender

(S05E20) "Someone will be singing 'Wind Beneath My Freaking Wings'" - Meredith

Why does ABC have to mention that Grey's Anatomy has some of the best storylines on television? If that is true, that must mean that Private Practice has the worst. The episode was good, but the long wait got me jaded.

The show does better when Meredith isn't the center of the show. Even with her as the narrator, she succeeded only as a model for Izzie and a mediator between Derek and Mark. Speaking of which, Lexie was hysterical the whole episode. I thought it was so obscene that she kept eating something different in every shot that she was in. Sure they mentioned that she broke out, but couldn't the makeup team add a lump or two? I didn't see one thing wrong with her face.
