All those make sense to me. However, why did the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films choose to nominate Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad and Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer, as Best TV actor and actress, respectively?
Comedian Jeffrey Ross hosted the event. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a successful awards season for Lost. A complete list of winners in the television categories follows after the jump.
The Saturn Award nominations are in, and many popular sci-fi and fantasy shows made the cut. Returning favorites like Lost, Heroes, and Dexter were recognized by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, as were newcomers Pushing Daisies and Journeyman.
With seven nominations, Lost is ahead of Dexter and Heroes, which received five and four nominations, respectively. Heroes was the big winner last year, taking home awards for Best Network Series as well as acting awards for Masi Oka and Hayden Panettiere. Both actors received nominations this year, along with co-star Greg Grunberg.
The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films has nominated Lost in six categories of its Saturn television awards, with seven total nominations. Both the series and the second season DVD were nominated, along with actors Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Michael Emerson. Lost has won the award for Best Network Series for the last two years, and it won the DVD award in 2006. Actors Matthew Fox (2006) and Terry O'Quinn (2005) have also earned recognition from the Academy, which was founded in 1972.
Both the actors and the series are in good company. The other nominees are after the jump:
