Both funny women have been nominated for Best Spoken Word Album, Fey for her reading of 'Bossypants' and White for 'If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won't).' We can't wait for the (hopefully) hilarious split-screen reactions from the actual ceremony.
White and Fey aren't the only TV stars to pick up nominations.
Seth MacFarlane picked up a few noms, one for the 'Family Guy' original song 'Christmastime Is Killing Us' and another Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Over in the Best Comedy Album category, Kathy Griffin, Louis C.K. and Lonely Island are up against one another.
While there was a lot of fanfare for their impending premiere back then, FOX very quietly dropped them in as the second episodes of their respective series this season. Disappointingly, it wasn't until 'American Dad,' though, that the hurricane really became the focal point of the story.
As such, it was a bit of an overall disappointment as a crossover event, though we absolutely loved Cleveland Brown and Peter Griffin making a cameo at the end of 'American Dad.'
When Bill Maher mentioned that one in four Republicans believe Obama might be the Antichrist, MacFarlane said that this was a type of rhetoric we never heard during the Clinton administration. He would like to think that most Republicans are still sensible people, but that's not what he's seeing in the media anymore.
"Either they've now turned nuts," he said of the Republican party, "Or they've allowed the crazies to get control of their mouthpiece and let the rest of us think that they are."
The hurricane-themed set of episodes were supposed to air last season, but were pulled by the network after a series of storms and tornadoes wreaked havoc across the nation. Now, several months later, the episodes are set to air, but don't expect a lot of hoopla.
He called up Telegdy as Stewie Griffin with a list of demands on behalf of the network's "number one talent," Jay Leno.
"Jay would like a handicapped parking pass, and I think he genuinely qualifies because of the jaw situation," MacFarlane said. Other demands included car-on-car porn and for Telegdy to convince more newspapers to flub their headlines.
To Telegdy's credit, he hung in through the whole bit and even got in a few jokes himself, like finding it hard to argue with classifying Leno as handicapped due to his chin.
Comedy Central's Roast of Sheen was the highest rated roast in the network's history, as 6.4 million viewers tuned in to watch Sheen skewered. Including re-airs, the total audience reached 10 million. It was the second-highest rated telecast in Comedy Central history.
Not only was the Sheen roast a ratings success on TV screens, but chatter about the event also dominated social media. According to trendrr.tv, the Roast garnered 450,000 social mentions, which dwarfed several other prime-time Fall TV premieres, including 'Dancing With the Stars' and 'Two and Half Men.'
In terms of laughs, the roast didn't disappoint. Comedians and celebrities from Jeffrey Ross to Mike Tyson to Roastmaster Seth MacFarlane gave Sheen their best shots, making fun of his drug history, public breakdown and affinity for prostitutes.
The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen was taped Sunday night in LA, and all early indications are that it was a rip-roaring, hilariously mean affair that should finally let America feel less guilty about its unhealthy obsession with a self-destructive, past-his-prime TV star.
While live blogs of the event are already available on the Web from those who were able to attend the taping, the rest of us will have to wait a week until it airs on Mon., Sept. 19 at 10PM ET.
But we can look at at a few clips Comedy Central released today as a mini-preview. RoastMaster Seth MacFarlane introduces Sheen to the stage with a relatively tame one-liner, considering what's to come: "He went from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' to having every day off ... please welcome Charlie Sheen!"
In another preview clip, RoastMaster General Jeffrey Ross takes the stage in a Colonel Ghaddafi costume and hits Sheen with a few barbs. "You're the black sheep of a family responsible for three 'Might Ducks' movies!" Later, MacFarlane reads Sheen his obituary.
We're pretty psyched to see where the proceedings go from here. Check out the preview clips after the jump.
More roasters are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Ross, known as Comedy Central's Roast Master General, saved Sheen's nearly disastrous live-tour by taking the stage to rip on the torpedo-of-truth-teller. Jeselnik was perhaps the breakout comic star of the highly-rated Trump roast.
Tyson has been branching out into film and TV work in his boxing retirement, guest starring in 'The Hangover,' and an episode of CBS's 'Same Name.' Most anything that Tyson says in his signature high-pitched voice is instantly hilarious, and him going after Sheen should be funnier than the time he promised to eat his opponent's children.
After the jump, check out Sheen making like Slim Pickens' Major King Kong, and going for a nice, screaming ride before exploding into a nuclear apocalypse.
The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, to be hosted by Seth MacFarlane, airs Mon., Sept. 19 at 10 PM ET.
But despite this bevvy of projects he currently has on the air and in development, we can't shake the feeling that the final frontier of MacFarlane's quest to take over your TV could put him in front of the cameras, not behind them. Is it possible he might be TV's next late-night talk show host? He's got the good looks of on-camera talent, his Twitter feed is filled with jokes about politics and current events, and pretty much everything he's touched has turned successful.
Read on for our theory about why MacFarlane would make a great late-night host, and why we think it could actually become a reality.
MacFarlane has presided over more Comedy Central roasts than any other comedian, also serving as Roast Master to David Hasselhoff and Donald Trump. The Trump Roast pulled in roast-record ratings, and we're pretty sure the Sheen extravaganza will leave those numbers in the dust. Possibly Angel Dust.
"I'm very excited to work with Comedy Central again on the roast. Charlie is a true icon with a talent that is strong and pure and concentrated into small crystals which can be smoked or eaten," McFarlane said in a statement.
The series will be hosted by astrophysicist Neil de Grasse Tyson and debuts on Fox in 2013. There will be same-night encores on the National Geographic Channel.
"Never more than at this moment in the modern era have we needed a profound reminder of the colossally important and exciting role that science, space exploration and the human quest for knowledge must continue to play in our development as a species," MacFarlane said in a statement. "We should be vigorously exploring the solar system by now, and who better to inspire us to get there than Ann Druyan, Steven Soter, Neil deGrasse Tyson and, of course, Carl Sagan."
What if we all violently turn against animation between then and now? Or, what if we have an apocalyptic event that puts us back in the Stone Age, sans TV? I guess you just can't think that way if you're a mogul. Anyway, if the Mayans turn out to be as wrong as Family Radio, Fox has already secured its most talked-about property of the 2013 season.
While these take place in the 'Family Guy' series, MacFarlane reaches through all of his shows to bring in characters to fill out the vast 'Star Wars' cast. Rallo from 'The Cleveland Show' appears as Nien Nunb while Tim the Bear is the obvious choice for Wicket, the Eewok. From 'American Dad' we get Roger as Moff Jerjerrod and, the obvious choice for Admiral Ackbar, Klaus.
Fans of the first two installments will find more to enjoy here, as MacFarlane continues to show his love for the source material, while still finding plenty to mock. But that's what true fans of 'Star Wars' do.
