'The View' Debates Herman Cain's Latest Scandal (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 29th 2011 2:10PM
Herman Cain is currently in the process of "reassessing his candidacy" after a Georgia woman came forward Monday alleging that she and the Republican presidential candidate were involved in a 13-year extramarital affair. This new revelation comes on the heels of allegations of sexual harassment from four separate women, all of which he denied fervently.

The ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tackled the scandal in their 'Hot Topics' segment, and as usual, opinions different around the table. Whoopi Goldberg observed that this latest accusation isn't against the law, and wondered if it was the public's business at all. Sherri Shepherd said it would be hard to trust a man running for president who's been this deceptive in his private life.

'The View' Ladies Mock Michele Bachmann's 'One Word' Fallon Interview (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 22nd 2011 1:45PM
Michele Bachmann's awkward interview on 'Late Night' is making the rounds on the web after she played a game of 'One Word' with Jimmy Fallon. With the lights dimmed, Fallon tried to take the Congresswoman through some word association, but before he could get the game started she blurted out "Partymonkey!" and "cranberries." Once they finally got going, she used the opportunity to toss a few zingers at her fellow Republican presidential candidates.

Tuesday on 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) the panel replayed a clip from the interview and went around the table sharing the one word they'd use to describe Bachmann. "Oops!" cracked Joy Behar. Barbara Walters chose not to share hers. "I don't think I will say it," she demurred. "Bonehead!" offered Sherri Shepherd. Whoopi Goldberg put a bow on the ladies' Bachmann opinions. "She looked fantastic ... but she's not presidential material, I'm sorry, she's not. Just my opinion."

Patricia Heaton's Family Life Sounds a Lot Like 'The Middle' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 18th 2011 5:45PM
Art seems to imitate life for Patricia Heaton, who came on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about her show 'The Middle.' Barbara Walters pointed out that like her character Frankie, Heaton is a busy working mother: While Frankie has three kids, Heaton is a mother to four boys.

Stories from Heaton's own family life often end up on the show. The 'Foreign Exchange' episode, where a student from Japan stayed with the Hecks, was based on an experience she had. "I brought our Japanese student to the set ... and he was enamored with Sue Heck, of course, but he never said a word in the ten days he stayed with us," Heaton said.

Gayle King Talks About a 52-Year-Old Virgin Who'll Be on 'Ask Oprah's All Stars' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 14th 2011 7:30PM
Gayle King is a busy lady, but not too busy to come on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about her two OWN shows, 'The Gayle King Show' and 'Ask Oprah's All Stars.' When Sherri Shepherd asked her about the changes she's made to 'The Gayle King Show,' she said it would remain a radio and television show because it's still on Sirius XM, but she promised that "you will see more guests. It's true."

One guest Sherri was particularly interested in was a woman who'll be on 'Ask Oprah's All Stars', which will be hosted by King and feature Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Dr. Oz. The woman is a 52-year-old virgin who has finally met the right man. Sherri wondered how she made it that long and Gayle seemed to be suspicious that it was even possible, much less healthy. "I don't think it's good to be a virgin when you get married ... I just don't think it's good to have sex with one person your whole life," she said.

Hank Williams Jr. Tries to Explain Himself on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 11th 2011 6:45PM
Hank Williams Jr. has had himself quite a week. ESPN canned the country singer's 'Monday Night Football' intro after he compared President Obama to Hitler on 'Fox and Friends.' Williams Jr. went on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to try and explain himself. It didn't exactly go well.

Williams tried to make the point that he wasn't directly comparing President Obama and Hitler. He was merely making an analogy, he protested. Sherri Shepherd read the definition of the term, which read "a similarity in some respects among things that are otherwise dissimilar."

Williams felt vindicated by the dictionary. "How did you know who I was talkin' about?" he asked rhetorically, waving his hands and smiling. He went on to explain that his broader point was that the Obama-Boehner golf game was an absurd piece of political theater.

Danny DeVito Brings 'Always Sunny's' Gutter Humor to 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 20th 2011 7:00PM
Danny DeVito is the elder statesman of the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' cast, but that doesn't mean he's a beacon of maturity. DeVito stopped by 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where he talked about the new, depraved 'Sunny' season and gave some Joy and Sherri some equally crass advice on how to make a marriage work.

To start the segment, they showed a clip from the 'Sunny' premiere, in which Frank asked a hooker to marry him, only to see her die of a crack overdose seconds later. "In the seven seasons we've been doing the show, we bring the bar down as low as we can. If you think you're in the gutter, we're gonna excavate that gutter. But we have a lot of fun," he said.

A Stripper Sweeps Sherri Shepherd Off Her Feet on 'Wedding Fabulous' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 14th 2011 7:13AM
'Wedding Fabulous: Sherri Shepherd Gets Married'After her bachelorette party, Sherri Shepherd may have said, "Y'all's a nasty group of women." But she was clearly enjoying herself, if a little stunned at the same time, during it on 'Wedding Fabulous: Sherri Shepherd Gets Married' (Tue., 9PM ET on Style).

The women went very traditional by having a uniformed police officer arrive threatening to ticket the party, before hitting the music and losing the uniform. And, despite being the oldest stripper trick in the book, it worked again. There's a reason it's a classic.

But what surprised Shepherd was when the stripper said to her, "Baby, I'm gonna pick you up." She was worried she was too heavy and he was going to drop her, or worse yet, her wig would fall off.

Stephanopoulos Says He's 'Shocked' by Anthony Weiner's Behavior on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 16th 2011 5:25PM
George Stephanopoulos discusses Anthony Weiner on 'The View'Anthony Weiner resigned his position as U.S. Representative Thursday in the wake of a scandal that involved his sending lewd photos of himself to women via Twitter. His behavior shocked many, including 'Good Morning America' co-host George Stephanopoulos, who spoke on the subject Thursday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC).

"I was, you know, as shocked as anybody else just by the compulsion that he demonstrated," said Stephanopoulos. "You heard the first story, said 'Well, this might be true.' But then he came out and talked to every single reporter in the country and said it's not true, I'm the victim here. That's what surprised me."

Just hours after Weiner's resignation, Sherri Sherpherd wondered if he could recover from the scandal. Stephanopoulos noted that Weiner has spent his whole working life in politics and he is a smart guy. But he made the point that before he did anything else, Weiner would have to get himself straightened out and settle things with his family.

The Ladies of 'The View' Defend Kate Gosselin's Right to Cash In (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 19th 2010 3:00PM
Several ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) defended Kate Gosselin's right to cash in on fame for the benefit of her kids. Whoopi Goldberg was especially vocal, and cited a recent Popeater article which argued the same point.

"Whether they're hookers, whether they're dancing in the clubs ... whatever they're doing, if they're taking care of their kids and they're keeping their kids safe and cool -- I don't always like the way you make your living, but, hey, you're doing what you've got to do," Goldberg said.

Barbara Walters Visits Nude Art Exhibit (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 12th 2010 3:30PM
Here's an image we didn't need. At a new exhibit by Yugoslavian-born artist Marina Abramovich at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Barbara Walters found herself sandwiched between two naked men. And, one of them was so, um, gifted, that Walters had to take great pains to avoid him, she said on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated).

Walters struggles to describe her experience at the exhibit, which features two nude performers standing inches apart in a doorway, until Sherri Shepherd, and Whoopi Goldberg especially, step in and offer their matter-of-fact perspectives.

Joy Behar's Armpit Causes a Commotion on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Mar 26th 2010 2:23PM
Joy's Armpit Causes a Commotion on 'The View'Co-host Joy Behar was telling a long, complicated story on 'The View' (weekdays, 11AM ET on ABC) when suddenly Sherri Shepherd noticed that Behar had a large hole in the armpit of her shirt. Shepherd tried to hold her arm down, but Behar didn't notice, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck became startled that Shepherd was apparently assaulting Behar. "Keep your arm down, babe," was the advice from Shepherd to Behar. Then Behar danced to show off the armpit hole. This armpit reveal follows an episode last year where Elisabeth Hasselbeck talked on air about showing her nipple in a photo.

'The View' Debates Kate Gosselin on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 23rd 2010 1:00PM
Today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), both Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd admitted to being Kate Gosselin fans and were rooting for her during last night's premiere of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Hasselbeck wants Gosselin to do well on 'DWTS' because she views her stint on the dancing show as "the ultimate challenge," she said.

Joy Behar disagrees, however, and seems to point out that Gosselin's time would be better spent parenting. "The ultimate challenge is to stay home with those brats," she said, referencing Gosselin's eight children.

A conversation analyzing recent displays of public affection between Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren inexplicably turns to bondage, then finally results in a tickle attack by Joy Behar on Sherri Shepherd on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated).

It's probably best not to wonder how the ladies of 'The View' got there. Just enjoy Behar's unrelenting assault on Shepherd and her reaction.
