TV Casting: EXCLUSIVE -- Tess Harper Returning to 'Breaking Bad'

by Andrew Scott, posted Mar 19th 2010 12:45PM
Tess HarperEXCLUSIVE: Veteran film and television actress Tess Harper ('Tender Mercies'; 'No Country for Old Men') will reprise her role as Jesse's (Aaron Paul) mom on AMC's Emmy-winning series 'Breaking Bad.' Star Bryan Cranston broke the news in his exclusive interview with AOL TV, saying, "She and Michael Bofshever, who plays [Jesse's] dad, are both back again and we're glad to have them, because they do a really solid job." According to Cranston, Harper's appearance will be a minor one, because the "storyline didn't put it in that way to explore more of Jesse's background, but that's neither here nor there." 'Breaking Bad' season 3 premieres Sun., Mar. 21 at 10PM. [AOL TV]

Jericho makes another comeback, just not to your television

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 10th 2009 8:34AM
JerichoIt's hard to deny the passion that fans of CBS's late apocalyptic drama Jericho had. Their "nuts" campaign prompted the network to reverse order and bring back the show after officially canceling it. That second season did provide some closure on many of the dangling plot threads, but some fans felt it didn't live up to the quality of the first. Whether this had to do with the reduced episode order or the reduced budget is uncertain, but none of that matters now.

Thanks to the ongoing dedication of those fans, Devil's Due Publishing has inked a deal with CBS Consumer Products to continue the story of Jericho in comic book format. Both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel have had amazing success publishing their new "seasons" in the comic book medium. More recently, Sci Fi's Farscape launched a comic continuation of its own, while many other properties are telling original tales in comics (Eureka, Supernatural and Fringe come to mind). But with Jericho being far less sci-fi/fantasy in its presentation, it'll be interesting to see if its fans follow it to this new medium.

Jericho alternate ending - VIDEO

by Erin Martell, posted Jun 12th 2008 1:05PM
Lennie JamesMost Jericho fans already know that two finales were filmed: one series finale and one season finale. When CBS canceled the show, viewers were given a neat, positive end to the series. Video of Jericho's alternate ending was recently released, and now we know what the season's cliffhanger would have looked like.

If you read Carol Barbee's description of the original Jericho finale, the clip won't tell you anything you don't already know. It's still cool to watch how everything plays out, though. I don't expect to see Lennie James as Robert Hawkins ever again, so I'll take what I can get. Check out the video after the jump.

Sci Fi Channel is "nuts" for Jericho

by Jason Hughes, posted Jan 23rd 2008 10:22AM
JerichoIn a move that should only help the sophomore science fiction series, Sci Fi Channel and CBS announced today that Sci Fi has nabbed up rerun rights for the first two seasons of Jericho. Do you think they paid for the rights in nuts? Ahahaha! ... see what I did there? ... haha ... er, because of the campaign to-- ... uh ... *ahem* Never mind. To begin their exclusive six month broadcast portion of the overall three year deal, Sci Fi will air a four-episode prime time marathon on February 11th, one day before the new season premieres on CBS.

Jericho: The Return - VIDEO

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Dec 29th 2007 12:19PM
Jericho
First, let me admit that I did not watch CBS' Jericho beyond the first episode. I had various reasons not to watch it beyond the premiere, one being that I simply can't make time for all TV series in my schedule, even if said series are gems. That out of the way, I just watched the preview for Jericho's second season and let me tell you that it piqued my interest enough to put a note on my calendar to watch the show's season premiere on February 12.

Skeet Ulrich thanks fans for Jericho renewal

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 15th 2007 3:01PM

Skeet UlrichShort but good interview with Jericho star Skeet Ulrich over at TVGuide.com. He talks about how surprised he was by the intensity of the fan support the show received after it was canceled. He says his mom first alerted him to the campaign (everyone say it at once: awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!).

He says the "nuts" line was actually the hardest line he had to deliver all season, because "it's such a non-sequitur," so he finds it funny that it was that line that inspired fans.

He also reveals that Gerald McRaney was ready to leave the show. In fact, he was frustrated throughout the season because he wanted more to do.

Jericho: The Day Before

by Paul Goebel, posted Feb 21st 2007 9:05PM
Jericho(S01E12) Jericho returns to the schedule this week with a new episode that shows us what happened just before the bombs dropped. This episode lends credence to those who compare Jericho to Lost, mainly because Jericho's flashbacks don't answer any questions either.

In the first scene we find out that Jake (Skeet Ulrich) is a licensed pilot and he's in desperate need of a job. Doesn't he know there's plenty of money to be made as a Johnny Depp impersonator?

Harold Perrineau joins CBS pilot

by Brett Love, posted Feb 7th 2007 4:00PM
Harold PerrineauToday marks the big return of Lost, so it seems as good a time as any to see what Harold Perrineau is up to now that Michael has sailed off into the sunset with WAAAAALT! Back in September Anna mentioned some movie work the former Lost star had lined up. Now comes word that he has signed on to co-star in the CBS pilot Demons.

The show tells the story of an ex-Jesuit priest and psychologist named Gus who performs exorcisms. Perrineau will star as another priest who is the longtime friend and confidante of Gus. That's a little light on details, but makes me think of the short-lived Skeet Ulrich vehicle, Miracles, on ABC. Just knowing that little bit though, I'd say Demons has a tough road ahead. Religion is always a tough sell.

It's just a pilot at this stage, so there is no telling if it is even going to go to air, but it does make one less and less confidant that any of those Michael/Walt resolutions that the Lost producers have hinted at will actually bear fruit. The Hollywood Reporter article also mentions that there was talk of Perrineau returning to Lost, but they could not come to an agreement.

First new episode of Jericho will answer a lot of questions

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 28th 2007 1:39PM

JerichoWhen Jericho returns on February 21 after its hiatus (I actually thought it was coming back at the end of this month but there's still another month to wait), several questions will (might?) be answered.

The first episode will show what happened 36 hours before the bombs dropped, in Jericho, Denver, and Washington, D.C. Maybe we'll finally get a hint as to who Hawkins really is and what exactly Jake was doing.

This has been one of the big surprises of the season for me. I really thought that it would be one of those science fiction-ish dramas that would go up against a powerhouse show on another network and either being canceled quickly and put on "hiatus" permanently. But this show has surprised with its ratings (it actually isn't doing too badly) and it's quality. There's a lot going on in this town, and I have to say that I'm more interested in what's going on in the town of Jericho than on that island over on ABC, at least for now.

Jericho creators say some mysteries will be solved this year - TCA Report

by Joel Keller, posted Jan 18th 2007 4:02PM
JerichoCBS held an "informal" press conference ("informal" being code for "take all the reporters in the massive ballroom and cram them in a meeting room a quarter of the size") for the hit show Jericho. On the panel were executive producers Carol Barbee and Jon Turletaub and stars Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, and Lennie James.

First of all, let me say that the shock of the session came right away, when Lennie, who plays Hawkins, opened his mouth and a British accent came spilling out. I guess I need to watch more British TV, since he's been around for a long time, starring in shows like The State Within. Anyway, the producers fielded most of the questions, mainly revolving around the long break between halves of the season as well as what we'll find out about the various cast members this season.

Why doesn't Jericho have an online storyline?

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 4th 2006 3:16PM

JerichoWhen Jericho debuted on CBS earlier this fall, one of the big selling points was the plan to have a separate storyline on the network's web site. It would be actual scenes shot with the cast but shown online only, and they would beef up the subplots. This hasn't happened yet. There is a lot of online-only content at the site (including video about what would happen if a real attack happened, interviews, etc), but the additional storyline idea was canceled.

Jericho: Red Flag

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 22nd 2006 9:33PM

Gerald McRaney(S01E10) Great to see that even an episode of a series about nuclear war and small town isolation can have a Thanksgiving episode! But it's not a "Very Special Episode" of Jericho, where everyone has a bake sale and learn a valuable lesson about...I don't know, bake sales or something, it's actually a rather fascinating episode about what the people of Jericho should do when boxes and boxes of food, medicine, fuel, and supplies are dropped from airplanes. Do you trust them? Are they poisoned? Is everything safe to touch? Confusing matters more is that the labels are in Chinese, and the planes were Russian.

At first I thought, yay, Chinese Food! That's what everyone eats when they're alone on the holidays, right? But then you have to think about who sent it (if they really did) and why.

Jericho: Crossroads

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 15th 2006 9:16PM

Jericho(S01E09) Right now, this show is better than Lost. Yeah, I said it.

While Lost seems to be, well, lost because they've suddenly turned into a show about a prison and a love triangle, this show is doing almost everything right. Yeah, I know, that might not be fair, because this is only the ninth episode of Jericho and Lost is in the middle of its third season. But I sense good things to come from Jericho, and this season of Lost has only showed me that the very structure of the show that I loved that first season and a half has now become a giant weight that's starting to sink the show. But that's a whole other rant for another day.

Ravenwood finds out Eric's address from his jacket and comes to town...

Jericho: Walls of Jericho

Is the bar in Jericho asking patrons to pay money for the food and drink they're consuming during this crisis? I ask that because in the opening scene of tonight's episode, the power goes out and the woman behind the bar tells everyone to go home. And I'm thinking, wait a second...the world might be coming to the end and the only comfort these small town citizens can find is with each other, and the bar is making them go home at 9:30? Shouldn't this bar be sort of a meeting place, since it has food and drink and a television?

Jericho: Four Horsemen

Jericho(S01E03) "18 Hours After The Bombs."

That's sort of an odd phrase to use as an opening, "after the bombs." But I guess we know they were definitely bombs, and there were more than one. Sometimes I think we might be overthinking this show. Maybe we're supposed to understand that these were nuclear bombs directed at our cities, a war, and not (take your choice) an accident, aliens, a conspiracy, or something similar. I guess the mystery is in who did it, why, and how this small town will survive.
