'Spartacus' Creator Talks About the 'Epic' New Season and the Trailer for 'Vengeance'

Starz has finally released the 'Spartacus: Vengeance' trailer that the network showed at Comic-Con, and I've posted it below for your viewing pleasure.

I also interviewed 'Spartacus' executive producer and creator, Steven DeKnight, on Friday, and though I'll post the majority of the interview closer to the show's January premiere, but share some of his responses regarding the epic scope of the new season. First question: Did the show have the resources to properly depict Spartacus' post-ludus life on the run with his fellow escaped slaves?

"We definitely have quite a bit more money than we did in the past seasons and it shows," DeKnight said of the 10-episode season. "I mean, just look at the trailer. That one shot of a mine with a thousand people working in it gives you an idea the scope that we're going for."

'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' (10PM, Starz) season 1 finale
The finale's called 'Kill Them All,' and it's a pretty literal hint at what happens as Spartacus begins his revenge against Glaber. It'll be a bloody, gory mess, or, as series creator Steven S. DeKnight tells TV Guide, "It's a hugely dramatic hour that ends in the satisfying bloodbath everyone's been waiting for." Expect plenty of the kinkiness that has also been the graphic show's trademark, and that, along with the violence, will continue in season two. The sophomore season, which was greenlit before season one even premiered, was put on temporary hold when titular star Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma earlier this year. But Whitfield is expected to recover fully, and DeKnight says season two's antics will even top the first season's most outrageous moments. "We're planning something that'll raise your eyebrows so high they'll be at the back of your head," he tells TV Guide.
