Dan & Jessi Talk Final Season of 'The Hills'

'The Hills' is alive... but not for much longer.
The cultural phenomenon that sparked a generation of non-reality reality shows is launching its sixth and final season starting on April 27, with a spectacular summer series finale planned. Many are rejoicing the demise of the show, practically chomping at the bit to send Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt into the sunset. Others aren't so happy... though we're not sure who you are.
Some of the final episodes include Montag's plastic surgery being revealed to her mom, the cast dealing with substance abuse, and Audrina Patridge dating Ashlee Simpson's reality TV ex, Ryan Cabrera. There has been some teasing in regards to the return of Lauren Conrad, but MTV makes no promises.
We sat down to talk candidly with Dan & Jessi from MTV Canada's 'The After Show' about the end of 'The Hills,' and what the remaining fans have to look forward to in the next few months.
Kristin Cavallari Confirms Spencer Pratt Kicked Off 'The Hills' (VIDEO)
Kristin Cavallari confirmed on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated) that Spencer Pratt has been kicked off 'The Hills' for making a death threat against a show producer."He threatened one of the producers and told her he was going to kill her," Cavallari said. Pratt was reportedly removed from the show in mid-March, with his return contingent upon the successful completion of anger management training.

'The Hills' and 'The City': New Season Previews (VIDEO)
'The Hills' and 'The City' are gearing up for new seasons, and there's plenty of romances, break-ups, partying, new betrayals and new alliances ahead. Both shows premiere April 27 on MTV, and the love lives and careers of Heidi, Spencer, Brody, Audrina, Justin, Whitney, Roxy, Olivia and Erin will continue to dominate the new seasons.

Seven Possible Recasts for Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men'
While nobody wants to see him go, of course, in practical terms we must consider the possibility of a 'Two and a Half Men' without Charlie Harper. While the show has been renewed through the next two seasons, Charlie Sheen has expressed interest in leaving; his contract is up this season. Even if it's just a negotiating ploy, CBS is probably considering how the show could continue without him.Tiger Woods was immediately interested in doing the show after he'd heard how many different women Charlie has slept with, but he backed out when he found out it was all acting on the show. Luckily, the PGA welcomed him back with open arms mere moments before the entire sport collapsed.
Conan O'Brien was briefly considered, but NBC said no before they even heard what it was. When advised that he probably wouldn't be needed until next September, when the network's hold over O'Brien expires anyway, they relented. "At least," no one from NBC actually said, "...it would keep him the hell away from 11:30."
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Change Their Names (VIDEO)
Heidi Montag and husband Spencer Pratt apparently have a bit of downtime now that their show, 'The Hills,' has been canceled. What are they doing with their spare time? Why, changing their names, of course! 'TMZ' (weekdays, syndicated) reports that the celebrities have "given themselves Indian names." Henceforth, Montag will be known as "White Wolf" and Pratt will be called "Running Bear."Watch the video after the jump.
'The Hills' Final Season Trailer: Drugs, Plastic Surgery and New Romances
All good things must come to an end, even 'The Hills.' Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is the trailer for the final season of the MTV reality hit.
We've watched them love, live and grow -- and in Heidi Montag's case get loads of plastic surgery. This trailer opens with footage from simple times, times before plastic surgery and sex tape rumors. That alone was enough to make us nostalgic for the days of Whitney and Lauren sitting around the offices of Teen Vogue, but then -- BAM! -- new footage that got us excited (don't judge).

'The Hills' Is Dunzo After This Season
How will the hipsters of Los Angeles know which hot clubs to frequent now? EW.com exclusively reports that MTV reality series 'The Hills' will end its six-season run this summer."I think we've told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.," 'Hills' creator Adam DiVello says. "A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths."
The show, a spin-off of another MTV reality hit, 'Laguna Beach,' gets credit (blame?) for unleashing not only Lauren Conrad on pop culture, but also the ubiquitous TMZ fixtures that are Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt and his newly-plasticized wife, Heidi Montag.
In fact, the first episode of the final season (premiering Apr. 27) will focus on Montag, as she heads back to her Colorado hometown to reveal her drastic (and much maligned by fans and the media) plastic surgery makeover to her mother.
Best TV of the '00s: Celebrities
More of our best of the decade coverage, which started on Tuesday. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about a very aught-like phenomenon: the cult of celebrity.
There is no clearer metaphor for the concept of being a celebrity than the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You work hard to chase your dream and achieve a career for yourself by making your name known to the masses of the universe.
Then when you've grabbed that star and become a regular fixture in the flash bulb of the press' cameras, how does the public honor your tireless toil and efforts? They throw you down on a sidewalk and walk all over you.
In the Aughts, however, a new celebrity oozed out of the primordial muck. A celebrity that still suffered the slings and arrows of the tabloid press and a complete loss of the right to privacy, but achieved their stardom by simply cutting out all that pesky hard work and tireless effort nonsense. These are the celebrities who became famous by simply because they were famous.
The Twelve Days of Festivus: Three reality disasters
On the third day of Festivus, TV gave to me ... three reality disasters! For every good reality show that emerges, there are several horrid shows green-lit, giving reality television its negative light. I could have gone for days talking about tons of reality shows that were disastrous. Jon and Kate Gosselin became national disasters, but even their show had some merit watching a now single Kate deal with her family.
Here are three of the worst offenders of 2009, from least to most disastrous. Oh, and if you're wondering why a certain VH1 show that had Ryan Jenkins as a contestant isn't on the list, don't worry; we'll get to that later this week.
Heidi Not Pregnant, Spencer and Nation Relieved: 'The Hills' Finale (VIDEO)
Watch Spencer Pratt's expression go from barely contained panic to relief (with still a bit of residual panic) as wife Heidi Montag reveals the results of a recent pregnancy test were negative on the season finale of 'The Hills.'The couple has been arguing all season about whether to have a child. Heidi has been mulling over secretly quitting her birth control, while Spencer has been famously opposed to the idea of children and even looked into a vasectomy. In this clip, however, Spencer seems to have a change of heart and indicates he may want kids someday.

'The Hills' Season 6 Finale Recap
What happened on this week's 'The Hills' season 5 episode 20, 'Season Finale' (some fans may have mistaken this as the season 6 finale) -- in 100 words or less. Spencer plays video games with Enzo (does this kid have parents?) while sparring with Heidi about her trip to the pharmacy. "How did our marriage get to this point?" he says of her "sperm hijacking," but finally agrees to consider her feelings.
Brody and Jayde attend Taylor's engagement party, where talk quickly turns to their own future. He later tells his buddies he still has feelings for Kristin.
Lo Bosworth on 'The Hills' Season 5 Finale and What's in Store for Season 6
Boy drama ... girl fights ... and the monstrosity that is known as Speidi. Yes, people, it's time for the season finale of 'The Hills.'We caught up with Lauren 'Lo' Bosworth -- who made her reality show start as a teen on MTV's 'Laguna Beach' and later followed BFF Lauren Conrad to 'The Hills' -- last night before her flight from L.A. to New York to give us a sneak peek at what's ahead for the show and its stars. (Um, is Justin Bobby out of the picture yet, or what?)
Kimmel Pays Speidi a Backhanded Compliment on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)
Jimmy Kimmel delivered a compliment of sorts to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' playing to the popular notion that Speidi's fame might not be warranted."The thing that really seems to upset people is, they say you're famous for no reason," Kimmel said. "To me, that's more impressive because a guy like Justin Timberlake, he sings, he dances, he acts. You guys made it with none of that stuff."

Heidi and Spencer Plotting Their Own Reality Series: Do They Need a Reality Check?
Like 'em or not, Heidi and Spencer Pratt are here to stay -- that is, if they get their wishes fulfilled. In an interview with the Associated Press, 'The Hills' stars revealed their desires to stay in the reality game, and are currently shopping a new series. The concept: Instead of just showing the narrow version of the Pratts that we get on 'The Hills,' it would dig into the nether regions of their everyday lives and show ... everything!
"You don't get to see our everyday lives and what we do," Heidi Pratt said in reference to 'The Hills.' Still, should the couple get a green light, they'd still want to continue "working" on 'The Hills,' too.
Currently, they're promoting a tongue-and-cheek advice book, 'How to be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.' But the advice that TV fans may soon give them: go away. While they've found some sort of fan base on MTV, their major network experiment on NBC's 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' didn't exactly go very well. Negative press flooded in, with the general consensus being that these two might be a wee bit spoiled and, um, clueless.
Audrina Patridge is leaving The Hills
Audrina Patridge is the latest "cast" member to leave The Hills, following on the heels of Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. To this news I ask: Can the rest of the cast leave so they can just cancel the show? We could only be so lucky. No, reality television's favorite couple of prats, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt remain. You know, that could explain why everybody else is running from The Hills. The producers are hoping an injection of Kristin Cavallari, formerly of Laguna Beach will help. Personally, I'd be thrilled with the addition of some of the fine folks from the MMA to kick Speidi's ass. I'd watch that week after week.
Don't worry about Patridge, though. She says she's leaving The Hills to focus on that acting career she went to LA for. Which means starring in another reality show for MTV, apparently. The Audrina Show, produced by Survivor's Mark Burnett, will hit the airwaves 2010. Can somebody tell me what Burnett is doing attached to this project?
