When President Obama delivered his first State of the Union address last week, political pundits around the country pounced, delivering their usual split second blend of commentary and criticism. But now those roles are about to be reversed.

That's because, according to The Hollywood Reporter, CNN senior political correspondent Candy Crowley will take over their weekly 'State of the Union' round table beginning Sunday, ending weeks of speculation and shake-ups following the departure of controversial talking head Lou Dobbs from the network last November.

A clean-shaven Jon Hamm hosted 'Saturday Night Live' this week, and the 'Mad Men' star brought the laughs during his second time hosting the show -- especially as a "crazy sexy" saxophonist named Sergio.

The 'SNL' crew also took the politicians to task with bits on Obama's State of the Union speech, Sen. Scott Brown's new gig, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor's visit to Weekend Update. All that, and some Michael Bublé tunes.

For President Obama, its out of the frying pan and into the fire. No, we're not talking about health care or the war in Afghanistan, but rather something far more controversial: preempting television for the State of the Union address.

Yes, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the White House has finally decided when to air the annual speech, which details the progress made over the past year and the challenges still facing our nation. And it seems that one of those challenges is figuring out when to schedule the speech; the selected date, Wednesday, January 27, means the show could preempt the country's most popular show, 'American Idol.'

UPDATE: Breathe easy, 'Lost-ies. Looks like you won't have to wait an extra moment for the massive three-hour season 6 premiere of 'Lost' just because President Obama is constitutionally mandated to deliver his State of the Union address. According to the New York Times blog The Caucus, the White House still hasn't picked a date for the speech, but White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says it won't conflict with the Feb. 2 'Lost' premiere. "I don't foresee a scenario in which the millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in 'Lost' are pre-empted by the president," Gibbs said on Friday. Conspiracy-minded 'Lost' fans will note that 'Lost' co-executive producer Carlton Cuse is repped by the William Morris Endeavor agency, whose CEO, Ari Emanuel, is the brother of Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. But did the White House bow to pressure, either from Hollywood or from angry masses of 'Lost' fans petitioning on the Internet? Co-executive producer Damon Lindelof hinted in a Tweet, that there was a deal: the White House would back off of Feb. 2 if Lindelof and Cuse agreed to bring back the Frogurt character. As Lindelof put it in another Tweet, "OBAMA BACKED DOWN!!!! Groundhog Day is OURS!!!!!!! (God Bless America)."

The castaways of 'Lost''s mysterious island may be facing a nemesis more powerful and implacable than time loops, hydrogen bombs and smoke monsters: It's President Barack Obama.

According to The Wrap, the president is deciding when to deliver his annual State of the Union address, and the most likely airdate is Feb. 2. Which means the speech would likely bump the long-awaited premiere of the sixth and final season of 'Lost,' which had been scheduled for that date for months.

British female comedy impressionists like Catherine Tate should pay royalties to Tracey Ullman for copying her schtick. Ullman was the original and still remains one of the best, if not THE best, at what she does.

As with the first two seasons of her Showtime series Tracey Ullman's State of the Union, she pretends to be, or rather becomes, different personalities across the United States over a single day with an ubiquitous announcer informing us of who she is and where in the country she is located. She even impersonates various celebrities on the way, and sometimes she is more than one of them at the same time.

Now this is a varied ratings list. Sure, we have Monday Night RAW in there just like every week, but thrown into the mix are politics (the Democratic Debate from CA, the State of the Union and analysis), Law and Order, a movie on Disney, an episode of Monk, and not one but two - two! - episodes of Anderson Cooper 360. The episodes were helped by the fact that they followed the Democratic Debate - one is from 9:52 p.m. on Thursday and the other from 10 p.m. the same night. Eight minutes later. Crazy ratings.

Jon started off by pointing out that the other night's guest, Phil Simms, called him "Tom" at the end of their interview. I could have sworn he called him "Josh", but I thought I was just hearing things. I suggest that Jon relieve the cutting pain of having an idol screw up one's name by convincing himself that Simms was just so floored to be in his presence, he got nervous. Instant restoration of self-esteem!

President Bush delivered his final State of the Union address the other night. He encouraged the nation to do stuff and promised to do some other stuff and then talked about some other, other stuff. Anyway, we're strong. I swear I actually shuddered a little bit when Cheney smiled. That damn inverted scowl makes me feel cold deep in the pit of my soul. I would also like to point out that, for some reason, Jon's Bush impression has been slipping into weirdly hilarious zones lately. He suddenly turned into a Mr. T/George Jefferson hybrid during the Kyoto Protocol joke.

It's State of the Union night (see below), which is usually a television wasteland. For those of us who don't care to watch an hour of meaningless babble, 'Veronica' comes to the rescue. Last we saw the perky detective, she caught the campus rapist and broke up with boyfriend Logan (why, I still can't figure out). Now, she and Papa Mars are on the case of the dead dean.
