Comic-Con 2011: Highlights from HBO's 'True Blood' Panel

by Laura Prudom, posted Jul 22nd 2011 11:00PM
Ballroom 20 was alive with the sound of squealing Friday night, as the unnaturally attractive 'True Blood' cast hit the stage at Comic-Con.

Alexander Skarsgård, Ryan Kwanten, Stephen Moyer, Nelsan Ellis, Kevin Alejandro, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Rutina Wesley, Deborah Ann Woll, Anna Paquin and Alan Ball (phew!) held court before a packed house, showing off some steamy scenes still to come this season in a searing sizzle reel (watch it and get more on that here), before tantalizing the audience with a few juicy spoilers in the hour-long panel.

Sam Trammell (whose wife is about to have twins) and Joe Manganiello (who is filming a movie in Atlanta) were sorely missed, but we'd still say that the hotness quotient of the panel was far above normal human levels.

Check out a few of the highlights from the panel after the jump.

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 22nd 2011 5:53AM
Stephen Moyer, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Stephen Moyer is married to his 'True Blood' co-star Anna Paquin, and Thursday night Jimmy Kimmel asked him on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) about how all the sex on the show might impact their relationship at home, and vice-versa. "There's a lot of nudity and a lot of sex on the show," Kimmel observed.

"A lot of sex," Moyer agreed, and then looked at the audience. "Just like home."

When he laughed that he might get in trouble, Kimmel said, "Yeah, you could really get mixed up, I guess."

'True Blood' - Eric Finally Gets Revenge on Russell (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 30th 2010 2:40AM
'True Blood' - Eric Finally Gets Revenge on RussellIt's been a long time coming. But then, vampires are essentially immortal, so "a long time" is kind of relative in this situation. Tonight on 'True Blood' (Sun., 9PM ET on HBO), Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) finally has a chance to get back at Russell -- for real, this time around. And hey, it only took him a thousand years or so. Clearly, Eric is a man who doesn't like to rush these things.

Ten centuries ago, Vampire King Russell (Denis O'Hare) slaughtered Eric's entire family. That's a pretty traumatic event. Eric still isn't over it, for obvious reasons. In addition, the vampire Authority has ordered him to kill Russell -- although Eric would be willing to do that no matter what. Now, Eric figures out a way to murder his nemesis.

by PopEater Staff, posted Aug 22nd 2010 9:00PM
Anna Paquin and Stephen MoyerAnna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, the stars of HBO's vampire drama 'True Blood,' were married Saturday night in a wedding at a private, oceanside Malibu residence.

According to UsMagazine.com, guests at the ceremony uniting Paquin, 28, and Moyer, 40, included 'True Blood' costar Carrie Preston (attending with husband Michael Emerson of 'Lost') as well as Elijah Wood, Paquin's costar in the upcoming film 'The Romantics.' Many friends and loved ones who attended the nuptials reportedly arrived bearing gifts entirely wrapped in purple.

The couple -- whose first kiss was onscreen, playing psychic Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton on the HBO hit -- officially went public with their romance in February 2009. "I love working with her," Moyer told E! last summer, "and that's how it all started, by falling in love on camera."

'True Blood' Rolling Stone Cover: Bloody Hot or Too Gruesome?

by Ryan McKee, posted Aug 18th 2010 10:33AM
Have you been watching 'True Blood' and thought, "You know, this would be a great show if it only had more blood and nudity."? Probably not, especially with all the buff Weres this season. Still it's nice to know that Rolling Stone magazine is looking out for those of us who love seeing sexy, bloody naked people.

The 'True Blood' threesome Alexander Skarsgård (vampire sheriff Eric Northman), Anna Paquin (telepath Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (gentleman vampire Bill Compton) appear on the cover of the latest Rolling Stone -- available on newsstands today. In order to out-sexy Katy Perry's cover last month, where she appears in her underwear, the HBO stars are buck naked and blood-splattered. They have joined such nude-cover greats as John Lennon, Lady Gaga and The Dixie Chicks.

'True Blood' - Eric and the Authority Are Trying to Kill Russell (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 16th 2010 1:45AM
'True Blood' - Eric and the Authority Are Trying to Kill RussellFamiliarity can breed discontent. The vampires on 'True Blood' live for a long time, and so they've had a lot of arguments with each other. And over a thousand-year-period, it's easy to see how simple fighting could ratchet up -- into something much worse. Like the desire to commit murder, for instance.

[Spoiler alert.]

Russell and Eric are having a bit of a feud. It seems that Russell (Denis O'Hare) slaughtered Eric's family a thousand years ago. Well, we can understand how someone could still be angry about that. As revenge, Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) killed Russell's gay lover. So now they're both pretty upset.

'True Blood's' Sookie Shines With an Inner Light (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 19th 2010 3:00AM
'True Blood's' Sookie Shines With an Inner LightIt's always nice to see star-crossed lovers get reunited again. Of course, since this is 'True Blood' (Sun., 9PM ET on HBO), there's inevitably going to be some sort of wrench in the works.

[Spoiler alert.]

Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) have been separated ever since the last season of the show. Now, they finally catch up with each other, meeting up in Jackson, Mississippi. The lovers gets to hug and talk for all of about 30 seconds ... and then the Vampire King of Mississippi shows up.

The Vampire King (Denis O'Hare) attacks with his combined vampire/werewolf minions. Bill and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) are quickly defeated, but that's when Sookie strikes back! She uses her magical light "zappy" powers that we've only seen once before, and sends a werewolf flying across the room.

You'd think that the Vampire King would be annoyed by this. Instead, he's delighted. "Fantastic!" he says, while laughing with maniacal glee. Hmm. Why is the King so pleased? And what is the exact nature of Sookie's new power, anyway? Hopefully, all will be revealed in the next episode.

Stephen Moyer Wooed Anna Paquin Over Skype (VIDEO)

Stephen Moyer Wooed Anna Paquin Over SkypeAn on-set romance sparking an off-set relationship is nothing new in Hollywood. But 'True Blood' stars Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, who are now engaged, had to be a little more creative, Moyer explained on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!).

"HBO took three months to decide whether they were going to pick up the show or not," said the British actor.

But they had Skype. "You can do a lot of things" -- he smirked and tipped his head -- "when you can see people. It kinda just makes it a little bit more interesting."

By the time the two joined the rest of the cast to film the show, they had, well, already joined in another way.

First 'True Blood' Minisode is Available Online

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 27th 2010 3:51PM
True BloodRemember when TV Squad mentioned the 'True Blood' minisodes that will be shown with the encore presentations of season two on HBO in anticipation of season three in June? Someone at HBO got impatient and posted one of the minisodes online (or, more likely, recognized the marketing potential of letting people watch it in advance).

In the clip, Eric and Pam are auditioning new dancers for Fangtasia and there are more than a few comic relief moments. There is even a male dancer that is reminiscent of an old 'Saturday Night Live' Chippendale's sketch with Chris Farley. It's a self-contained story so the viewer doesn't have to worry if he or she has never watched 'True Blood' before.

The video is available after the jump. It is a bit racy, so be careful if you're watching it from a work or school or otherwise NSFW location. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
