Dave Hester's Hazing Ways Take Center Stage on 'Storage Wars' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 1st 2011 7:00PM
Dave Hester stands out from the other bidders on 'Storage Wars' (Wednesdays, 10PM on A&E) with his aggressive style and habit of yelling "yuuup" for every bid. He also gets on his fellow bidders' nerves fairly frequently, something the show highlighted with a montage of his best (or worst) work. The clips showed Hester bidding and taking on his competition, not always in a friendly manner. "Does anyone else in the crowd throw up in their mouth every time he says 'yuuup!'" said Barry Weiss to a bystander at one auction.
Still, Hester is one of the big shots in the business, and he's not afraid to let people know that. "When I got involved in it, everybody that was a heavy hitter then tried to do everything they could to put me through the hazing, to put me out of business," he said. That explains his point of view, but as Jarrod Schulz asked, when does Hester stop hazing everyone else?
Dave Scores Big With Lighting Rigs on 'Storage Wars' (VIDEO)

Most of the fun of 'Storage Wars' (Wednesdays, 10PM on A&E) is the detective work pf figuring out what a storage unit might be worth without being able to dig in and look around. Dave Hester is one of the best at that, and on Wednesday's episode, he saw something about a particular unit at Mission Hill Self Storage that he couldn't resist.Hester saw a locker full of what looked like unopened boxes marked "Made In China," all with one company's imprint on them. "I know what it costs to ship merchandise from overseas," said Hester. "This would be four to five thousand bucks. So whatever is in here has to have value." Hester had to fight off Mark Balelo, a bidder who had been running up prices all day, to win the locker for $9,000.
'Storage Wars' Star Barry Weiss Talks About Being a 'Produce' Man & His Female Fans
by Kim Potts, posted Aug 3rd 2011 3:30PM
'Storage Wars' (Wednesdays, 10PM ET, A&E) debuted last year and quickly became A&E's top-rated reality series. Why? The idea of buying a storage locker full of potential "wow factor" finds, as star Darrell Sheets would say, is fun to watch. But, like most reality series that win a devoted fan base comprised of the viewers who are returning in droves for the second season of 'Storage Wars,' the show really owes its success to its "characters," the guys (and woman, in the case of Brandi Passante) who keep rolling the dice on finding treasures amongst others' forgotten storage lockers.
No one is a bigger, funnier or more endearing character than 60-year-old Barry Weiss, the cool cat collector (he's been described as "Robert Evans-meets-Jack Nicholson") who frequently annoys his fellow 'Storage Wars' stars with his antics (he's brought a psychic and a little person on stilts to help him ferret out locker contents) and his nonchalant 'tude toward the storage locker game.
AOL TV talked to Barry about his approach to 'Storage Wars,' his much-debated ties to Hollywood and the many women who, according to his Facebook fan page, have caught Barry fever.
Darrell Sheets Makes a Great Eskimo Pie Find on 'Storage Wars' (VIDEO)

It's always a gamble on 'Storage Wars' (Wed., 10:30PM ET on A&E). We've seen them score big with some of the finds in abandoned storage lockers, and we've seen some painful losses. But Darrell Sheets was cautiously optimistic after turning up a unique item after a $275 purchase. The piece was an Eskimo Pie-branded cooler that was in incredible shape. When he took it to an expert for assessment, the guy said he'd never seen anything like it. Furthermore, it appeared to be from the late 1920s or 1930s.
"If you put this in a good quality auction, this thing could hit $3,000," the man told Sheets, who was so excited by the news that he asked him to repeat it. Certainly there is a market for branded items like this, and there likely aren't very many similar items out there, at least not in that condition.
What to Watch: TV Picks for June 27 - July 3

The Voice - Tuesday June 28, 9PM ET, CTV/NBCThe show ends this week, with the final four singing tonight and results tomorrow. I've enjoyed what I've seen of the show, though I admit I wasn't devoted to it. Most of my pleasure has come from watching Adam Levine try to be Simon Cowell, and wondering what Xtina is going to wear next. We get it, sweetie, you have a small waist and big chest.
