Bill Cosby and Susan Boyle Fall In & Out of Love in a Matter of Minutes (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 2nd 2011 2:40PM
Bill Cosby and Susan Boyle had a whirlwind mock-romance for the ages on 'Today,' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) cycling through multiple stages of a relationship in a single-segment. In a several-minute affair that made Kim Kardashian's 72-day marriage feel like forever, Boyle helped Cosby put on his jacket, he kissed her on the cheek and they started cuddling.

"And we'll be getting divorced during the commercial," Cosby joked, before Boyle quickly left and the camera cut back to him looking heartbroken and holding a single rose with a farewell note.

Susan Boyle, 'America's Got Talent'As one of the most unexpected superstars to come out of 'Britain's Got Talent,' Susan Boyle is an inspiration to anyone seeking success and stardom via a talent competition. While Boyle wasn't as commanding vocally as she has been in the past, she still knows how to command a crowd, and she was able to give that emotional boost the contestants need at this late stage of the competition.

'America's Got Talent' Signs YouTube Deal

by Scott Harris, posted Apr 26th 2010 10:15AM
It's a marriage made in multimedia heaven. Ever since 'America's Got Talent' debuted in 2006, it has become one of the chief suppliers of viral videos to YouTube. Which makes sense: After all, the reality competition is essentially a bunch of YouTube acts performing on a live stage in front of judges rather than recorded for a cubicle-bound audience. Yes, it's a wonderfully harmonious arrangement, but until now it has been entirely unofficial.

Well, peanut butter, meet chocolate.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has signed a deal with YouTube, forming an official partnership that will allow YouTube viewers to help select acts for the show. Beginning today, aspiring artists can upload their efforts to the new YouTube 'America's Got Talent' submission page. Producers for the show will then select 40 finalists for fans to vote on, with the top 12 vote getters earning the right to perform live on the show..

Susan Boyle flying to Chicago just for Oprah

by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 9th 2010 3:00PM
susan_boyle_hairbrushWhen Oprah made her tearful, but happy, announcement about the ending of The Oprah Winfrey Show, she committed to making 2010 something special. That was clearly in her mind as Oprah has reportedly booked Susan Boyle, the Scottish singing star who catapulted to fame in 2009 after appearing on Britain's Got Talent, for a sit down interview and musical interlude on Wednesday, January 14.

That's right, the six million CD selling Boyle will actually be in Chicago's Harpo Studios. No satellite feed this time. Nope, Susan Boyle will be able to jump up and down on the couch just like Tom Cruise. Or maybe she can bring her kitty cat, Pebbles, on the set and introduce her to American audiences?

Why We'll Leave 'American Idol' for 'X-Factor' If Simon Cowell Jumps Ship

by Laura Prudom, posted Dec 29th 2009 4:40PM
The ninth season of 'American Idol' is set to premiere on Jan. 12, but lately the show's buzz has had nothing to do with the singing competition -- not when there's so much movement behind the judges' table.

Speculation has reached fever pitch regarding music mogul Simon Cowell's rumored departure from 'Idol' following the expiration of his contract in 2011, but a recent comment from Cowell's brother has added fuel to the fire that everyone's favorite grumpy judge might abandon the show at the end of this season, "to concentrate on bringing the American version of 'X-Factor' to U.S. TV in 2011," Tony Cowell reportedly revealed on his weekly podcast.

But what is this 'X-Factor,' you may ask, and would crotchety Cowell really consider leaving the show that made him a household name on this side of the Atlantic?

Top TV Stories of 2009: Susan Boyle

by Nick Zaino, posted Dec 24th 2009 11:03AM
Susan Boyle on Britain's Got TalentSusan Boyle was a feel good story almost from the first minute she took the stage on Britain's Got Talent. She walked on as frumpy contestant 4321, which turned out to be just the countdown to the first nationally televised standing ovation of her career.

It was clear she had, as they say, spunk, then the judges asked her age and she rolled her hips and said, "I am 47. And that's just one side 'o me." It was clear she had ambition and a theatrical bent when Simon Cowell asked her whose success she'd like to mimic, and she named English theater star and singer Elaine Paige. And when she said she was going to sing "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables, it was clear to the audience that she was delusional. That is, until she opened up her mouth to sing.

Boyle didn't finish the first verse, barely finished the first line, before the judges raised their eyebrows in surprise and the audience started cheering and getting to their feet.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: One great TV moment

by Joel Keller, posted Dec 23rd 2009 11:12AM
Susan Boyle on Britain's Got TalentOn the first day of Festivus, TV gave to me... one great TV moment.

Unlike last year, which had a ton of major TV moments to choose from, this year had a whole roster of moments that seemed major at the time but ended up being minor in retrospect. Obama's inauguration feels more like a leftover moment from 2008. ER's finale would have been huge if it aired in 2004 instead of 2009. Letterman talking about his affairs and the corresponding blackmail incident would have been huge if Tiger Woods didn't run over that fire hydrant. Balloon Boy was a hoax, and Jon and Kate's divorce announcement had more of a rubbernecking feel than one that was communal.

No, the only TV moment that seemed to give us all a reason to talk around the Keurig machine (no one talks around watercoolers anymore, do they) was a moment that a) didn't even happen in the US, and 2) the vast majority of people discovered via YouTube.

Yep, I'm talking about Susan Boyle. The famous video is after the jump.

Susan Boyle's Britain's Got Talent appearance most watched thing on YouTube in '09

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 16th 2009 8:01PM
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who doesn't live in a cave or still have dial-up Internet... or both. Although given the economy these days, I'm sure I can forgive people who still live in caves.

Susan Boyle's breakthrough performance on Britain's Got Talent garnered the most eyeballs on YouTube in 2009 with a whopping 120 million views.

Sorry, dog that's stuck in a toilet as cruel owner films you. Maybe next year.

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 9th 2009 11:02AM
susan_boyle_CDDo you think Susan Boyle knows the words to "Happy Birthday"? She better learn them fast because she may be singing them to the First Lady. Susan Boyle has reportedly been invited to the White House in honor of Michelle Obama's birthday. The White House gathering would be a small group in the private quarters on January 17.

According to a White House source, "It will actually be a double celebration because three days later, January 20, marks the first anniversary of the president taking office. I would expect that a formal invitation will be made to Miss Boyle in the very near future. The President and First Lady absolutely love her voice and will be delighted if she agrees."

Review: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 8 Results

by Michael Pascua, posted Nov 11th 2009 12:32AM
Dancing with the Stars' final five
(S09E17) Dancing with the Stars continues to chug along having five couples become four. With such a small number, the results shows feel even more stretched out, slowly saving contestants one at a time.

Encore - Joanna & Derek - Paso Doble - Len thought that even though Mya had the higher score, the paso was so detailed that it deserved the encore. The two actually looked better with their hair tonight than last night; I could tell that it was them. On the second time around, I believed that they deserved a 30 and Mya only should have gotten a 29.

Susan Boyle is going to Dancing with the Stars

by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 8th 2009 1:01PM
susan_boyle_singingEverybody's favorite singing newcomer, England's Susan Boyle, is going to appear on Dancing With the Stars this week. She will not be doing the samba or the quick step. Susan will be singing, promoting her upcoming CD, I Dreamed A Dream, in stores on November 24.

Luckily for Susan, Sharon Osbourne will not be on the show. Or maybe it's lucky for Sharon because after the horrible things she said about SB, Susan would probably deck her if she had the chance. Last week, while on Sirius radio, Sharon was compelled to share her opinion of Susan's sudden success.

Susan Boyle's CD premiering on QVC

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 29th 2009 3:09PM
susan_boyle_singingOn November 24, British music sensation Susan Boyle's first CD will be released, and as I wrote before, it won't be filled with just show tunes. It's been getting a lot of buzz considering that Susan has not been going on television promoting the album... till now.

Susan will appear on QVC on November 4 to launch her debut album I Dreamed a Dream. If you tune in, you'll see Susan talking about the CD -- it doesn't sound like she'll be singing live -- but they'll spin some cuts and urge you to order.

If you do, there'll be a bonus DVD of rare footage that you'll get along with the eclectic batch of songs she's recorded. How eclectic? Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses," The Monkees' "Daydream Believer," Madonna's "You'll See" and, of course, from Les Miserables, "I Dreamed A Dream."

America's Got Talent: And the winner is... (season finale)

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Sep 17th 2009 1:00AM
America's Got Talent
(S04E26) This is it, people. The time has come to name the winner of America's Got Talent, the world's biggest talent search. The two-hour (!) final results bash included performances from Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle, The X Factor's Leona Lewis, Thelma Houston, Cirque du Soleil, Rascal Flatts, and Shakira. Sadly, none of the previous AGT winners performed.

Based on the TV Squad poll I've included in my review of the Top 10 performance show, 35.1% of the voters, including myself, said Barbara Padilla would win. Kevin Skinner received 22.2% of your votes, while Recycled Percussion placed third in our poll with 19.4%. The other contestants all got under 7% of your votes. (Note that these results were accurate at the beginning of the results show.)

Did the TV Squad poll results match reality? Official results coming up!

If you haven't watched the finale yet and do not want to be spoiled as to who won the competition, it's time to click elsewhere now!
