'A-Team' Complete Series DVD Will Be Shaped as the 'A-Team' Van

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 2nd 2010 9:30PM
The 'A*Team' Complete Series DVD box setDid you ever want to own the 'A-Team' van but the missus wouldn't let you blow Junior's college fund on a GMC van, the fancy paint job or the ton of golden neck jewelry? This may be the closest you'll ever get.

Universal Home Entertainment will release the entire series run on DVD on June 8th, just a few days before the big screen remake from director Joe Carnahan hits the screens.

Just look at it! It's the shape of the freakin' 'A-Team' van, quite possibly the coolest van in the history of vans. If Universal would be willing to sell just the box, I would gladly buy it just so I can store my bootleg 'Spaced' DVDs in it.

At last! Stingray coming to DVD in December

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 14th 2007 3:52PM

Nick MancusoI've been waiting for this for years, and judging by comments left at the site here, many of you readers have been waiting too: Stingray, the NBC drama series that ran in the mid 80s, is officially coming to DVD in December! The news was posted on Stephen J. Cannell's web site.

Now, I should say that the show is being released by VEI in Canada in December, but luckily our friends to the north make shiny DVDs that also work on our machines down here. Thank you friends to the north!

Stingray starred Nick Mancuso as a mysterious loner who helped people out of jams. He didn't ask for money, only that the people he helped do him a favor somewhere down the line. There were only 23 episodes of the show (plus the pilot movie), so I would assume the entire series will be released in one set. At least I hope so.

Space Ghost coming to DVD

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 18th 2007 10:46AM

Space GhostNo, not the wacky talk show version on The Cartoon Network. I'm talking about the original cartoon that aired in the mid-60s.

Space Ghost and Dino Boy will be released on July 17. And since this is one of those "it's not official yet but it's definitely happening" deals, no details about extras or features have been announced yet, but expect something in the next week or so.

I remember watching Space Ghost when I was a kid, the repeats not the original (I'm not that old), but I remember the show as being teamed up with another superhero named Frankenstein, Jr. Anyone else remember that? I distinctly remember the deep-voiced announcer saying, "Space Ghost!...And Frankenstein, Jr...Jr...Jr," the word echoing for a few seconds. Was this maybe two Hanna-Barbera shows being repackaged for the 70s?

Odd Couple season one coming to DVD - again

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 24th 2006 8:10PM

Odd CoupleHere's an odd little tidbit I didn't know. The first season of The Odd Couple that was released earlier this year was not released by Paramount. It was actually released by Time-Life (they also did that cool Get Smart set). But now the first season is going to be released again.

Paramount has announced that they too will release the first season of the show on April 24. TVShowsonDVD says that the set will probably be the exact same set as the one released by Time-Life, but there's no official word on it yet.

I'm still waiting for season two to be released! As I've said before, the first season of the show is rather lackluster to me. It's not that funny, and it has a different apartment set and wasn't filmed in front of a live audience. The later seasons are much better, as I think any fan or even crew member on the show would tell you.

On the 7th day of Fesitvus, TV gave to me

Festivus logo...Seven Sites Worth Linking

Ah, the web is such a wonderful place, isn't it? There's just so many places to find the littlest pieces of information, it's a wonder that people can get any work done... ever.

But that's what's great about my job; I and my fellow Squadders get to use our finely-honed time-wasting skills to dig up links to TV-related stories that we think you folks would like to read. Of course, we go to the same big sites that everyone else goes to: Yahoo, IMDb, TVGuide, Google News, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, YouTube, etc. But there are other sites we like to read that have become reliable sources of information; some of them are blogs and some of them aren't. Here is a list of our favorites; just put this little gift under the Festivus pole and open when needed.

(Oh, and we were thinking of mentioning our buddy Wil Wheaton's blog... but you all are probably reading it already.)

Bridget Loves Bernie coming to DVD

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 26th 2006 1:15PM
David Birney, Meredith BaxterCan I tell you what kind of a 7 year-old I was? Besides watching cartoons and action shows and The Brady Bunch, in 1972 I also loved a little romantic comedy called Bridget Loves Bernie.

The short-lived Meredith Baxter and David Birney CBS show (yup, they later got married in real life and she became Baxter-Birney) is coming to DVD on September 5. It will be a three DVD set.

It was a rather daring comedy at the time because it was about a Jewish cab driver who falls in love with a Catholic schoolteacher. I don't know if I understood any of that in 1972, but I remember liking this show a lot for some reason, so I think I'm going to get the DVDs.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. coming to DVD. Not!

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 22nd 2006 10:01AM
The Man From U.N.C.L.E.Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. This is the DVD release equivalent to a tennis match.

First it looked like The Man From U.N.C.L.E., the 60s spy spoof show starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, was coming to DVD this year. Then TVShowsonDVD reported that it wasn't coming after all. Now it looks like Amazon has the first season set listed as coming in July, but the DVD site called Anchor Bay and found out that it's still not coming after all, and might not come until 2007.

Though you might be in luck if you live in Australia...

Would you like one of Sydney Bristow's wigs?

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 28th 2006 1:00PM
AliasAlias-Media has a bunch of Alias news today. Not only is there a rumor that a special box set of all five seasons of the show will go on sale around Christmas (with lots of extras), but there is also news that next month, ABC.com will be auctioning off clothing and props from the show.

Sure, some might go for Syd's wigs or clothing, but I want one of the Rambaldi artifacts! Or, if I can't have one of those, maybe one of Marshall's gadgets.

Threshold coming to DVD

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 14th 2006 11:46AM

ThresholdTVShowsOnDVD.com is reporting that the recently canceled CBS sci-fi show Threshold is coming to DVD, maybe even quicker than anyone thought.

Threshold - constantly overlooked in favor of Invasion but usually liked by those who gave it a chance - was canceled by CBS after 9 episodes. There were 13 episodes produced (and a 14th ep in the planning), so it will be good to see those unaired episodes in the DVD set as well.

Now let's hope they do the same thing with Eyes and Suface
