Teen Titans

Preview: Cartoon Network's 'Young Justice' is More Superhero than Sidekick

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 26th 2010 12:36PM
We all know that it's not easy being green, but apparently it's even tougher being a superhero's sidekick. (Don't even get us started on being a superhero's sidekick and being green, like one of the stars of 'Young Justice'.)

If you're a fan of the various animated shows that DC and Warner Bros. have created over the past two decades, chances are that 'Young Justice' was already on your radar -- or maybe this is the first you're hearing about the super new series, an energetic take on some familiar -- and lesser known -- teenage heroes such as Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis. Similar in tone to the superb 'Justice League Unlimited' but focusing more on the 'Teen Titans' generation, 'Young Justice' is certain to appeal to fervent DC fans and newcomers alike.

TV Squad was lucky enough to land an advanced screener of the one-hour pilot event airing tonight (Friday, Nov. 26) at 7PM ET on Cartoon Network. Join us after the jump for our advanced review -- there will be light spoilers, but nothing to ruin your enjoyment of the show.

TV continues uninterrupted in comic books

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 29th 2007 1:06PM

BSG ComicWhat are you going to do? The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and even new shows like Pushing Daisies and Chuck are either out of fresh episodes or quickly running out. Well, you don't need to spend the "strike season" curled up in the corner of your bedroom crying through a pile of TV Guides, remembering the good old days when you didn't already know what was going to happen this week on House.

Television is alive and well, and even growing ... just somewhere else. Want to know what happened to Jack Bauer before Season One of 24? How about Buffy and the Scooby Gang after the series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? More and more shows are expanding their horizons by telling prequels, sequels and even in-between-quels in comic books, or graphic novels.

Tony Jay dead

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 18th 2006 3:28PM

Tony JayYes, the headline would usually include the "at (age)," but I can't find anything that says what his age was. Nothing on the IMDB, and nothing on his site either.

You would recognize Jay's voice as much as his face, as he voiced an incredible number of cartoons over the years, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Reboot, Spiderman, Teen Titans, Superman, The Mighty Ducks, Gargoyles, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as a massive number of videogames: World of Warcraft, X-Men Legends, Lionhearts, various Star Trek games, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and just about every other video game ever made that used a voice. But he had live action roles in TV and movies too, including Lois and Clark, Newhart, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Mr. Belvedere, Twin Peaks, Beauty and the Beast, Eerie, Indiana, Matlock, Murphy Brown, Picket Fences, and The Golden Girls. He was also a Royal Shakespeare Company actor and a singer.

He died earlier this week after surgery for removal of a non-cancerous growth on his lungs.
