Teenage Paparazzo

Adrian Grenier may play a celebrity with an entourage on 'Entourage,' but he said today on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated) that is just a character. In his every day life, Grenier said he doesn't actually have an entourage. That might change, though, which is why Grenier made the film 'Teenage Paparazzo,' which was available on DVD yesterday.

"Since the show," he said, "I'm becoming a little bit of a celebrity myself." That, Ray pointed out, is the arc of Grenier's character on 'Entourage,' and she asked how he dealt with that. "I made a movie about it," he said. "That's how I processed the whole thing."

Grenier directed 'Paparazzo,' a documentary about his relationship with 14-year-old paparazzo Austin Visschedyk. It features an odd collection of people playing themselves, including Alec Baldwin, Lewis Black, Matt Damon, Noam Chomsky, Paris Hilton and Whoopi Goldberg. Which would, in itself, make for an interesting entourage.

Adrian Grenier, the person, has a bit more depth than Vince, the character, he plays on 'Entourage.'

Take Grenier's new project, 'Teenage Paparazzo,' which debuts at Mon., Sept, 27 at 9PM ET on HBO. The documentary chronicles the life of a 14-year old paparazzo named Austin who stalks celebs in the middle of the night in Los Angeles.

But Grenier -- who wrote, directed and stars in 'Teenage Paparazzo' -- broadens the scope of his doc to make it a multi-layered look at celebrity in our fame-obsessed world. He becomes a paparazzo himself and and interviews high-wattage stars Alec Baldwin, Paris Hilton, Matt Damon, Lindsay Lohan about their experiences, plus talks to big-idea thinkers like Noam Chomsky and Jake Halpern about fans' "relationships" with celebs. It's that pseudo relationship that's fueling today's paparazzi frenzy, according to Grenier's documentary.
