The A Team
Christian Slater's Latest Will Be a Fox Pilot
Nobody can accuse Christian Slater of not trying to get himself into a hit TV series. First there was 'My Own Worst Enemy,' then this year's 'The Forgotten.' Two swings, two misses. Will the third strike rule apply if his next project fails to make the cut? Whatever the outcome, you gotta give the guy credit for trying. Today, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Christian Slater's been cast in an Adam Goldberg comedy pilot for Fox. There's action as well as comedy apparently, with Slater playing the leader of a group called Titan Team, a bunch of young, brilliant security experts. He's ex-military and a maverick. Writer/actor Trevor Moore from 'The Whitest Kids U'Know' is also in the pilot. He's the Don Juan and reconnaissance expert.
Rounding out the A-Team cast?
It appears that District 9 star Sharlto Copley is in talks to play "Howling Mad" Murdock in the big-screen version of The A-Team. Jessica Biel is also in talks to play an army general pursing the covert team, which is a nice change of pace considering that the token female character of Amy in the original series didn't seem to do much (so much so that her character was eliminated late in the series and nobody noticed). If the talks are successful, Copley will join UFC star "Rampage" Jackson, Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper as the other members of the team. Biel may join the team as well as it's been revealed that she is a former romantic partner of Cooper's "Face" character. If her first name is Amy, that would clinch it.
The movie cast is sounding pretty good. Hopefully there can be cameos by the surviving original television actors. However, if the movie wanted to truly capture the spirit of the original television show, then ten thousand bullets will be fired and nobody will die.

Mr. T pities the frozen steak (and the studio door)
Coming to the big screen: Magnum, Wonder Woman ... and V?
We all know that studios go ga-ga for big screen movies based on TV shows. Even if they tank, there seems to be an unending appetite to bring a beloved (or even semi-beloved) TV show to a theater near you: The Fugitive, Charlie's Angels, Transformers, The Beverly Hillbillies, Serenity (Firefly), The Simpsons, South Park, The Flintstones, The Jetsons...the list is endless. Now Den of Geek has a list of 23 shows that studios are planning to bring to the big screen. But this list is really incomplete in so many ways. We've all heard that Magnum, P.I. might get the movie treatment, but this list only says that Matthew McConaughey might star and doesn't mention other people who have been rumored to have been attached to it in the past, including Ben Affleck and George Clooney.
Burn Notice: Breaking and Entering (season premiere)
(S02E01) Man, it's been a long time since last season. I remembered very little of what they showed in the recap and after being reminded, I was hungry for the new season.
It occurs to me as I'm watching this episode that Michael Westen is a less philanthropic MacGyver. He knows a lot of tricks that will help you in sticky situations but he's smart enough to keep most of them to himself. I, personally, have never had to run from the police but if I ever do, I now know the best way to stop the airbags from going off.
Quinton Rampage Jackson joining the A-Team?
It looks like we have a potential candidate for the B.A. Baracus role in the movie adaptation of the 80's television show The A-Team. UFC fighter Quinton Rampage Jackson mentioned on The Jimmy Kimmel Show that he was in the running for the role made famous by Mr. T.
Looking at the photo, it's easy to see why he's in the running. He's already got the pecks and the chain. If you check out the video after the link, he's even got the attitude. Just give him a mohawk and he'll be set.
The planned release for the feature film is June 12, 2009. It will be produced by 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios and is to be directed by John Singleton (Boyz In The Hood, Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious).
The question is: can the UFC fighter act? And if he can't act, then can he at least act like Mr. T.?
[Thanks, Ryan!]
