Lee Tells Cathy He's Ready to Go, on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

When Lee called Cathy to be by his side on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime), you could hear in his voice why he wanted her to come over. He knew it was his time, and no one wants to go alone. The bond that Lee and Cathy shared transcended the clinical trial and became something so much more powerful. Lee called Cathy his "soulmate," and perhaps it is that level of connection that allowed some of his energy and enthusiasm for adventure and excitement to make its way into Cathy's heart.
It was a beautifully written scene, with a truly harrowing performance by Hugh Dancy. Acting opposite Laura Linney, the pair made every beat of his last moments feel authentic and absolutely heartbreaking. Dancy doesn't do a lot of TV, but he's certainly welcome to come back any time.

Last week, Shawn disappeared from his home on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). While he didn't return this week, a near-scare with a dead homeless man made Cathy panic about losing the people she cares about. And since she can't do anything about Shawn until he's found or returns, she turned her attention to Lee.While she's had a good response to the treatments, Lee's body hasn't responded at all and he's progressing toward death with his cancer. Meanwhile, Cathy found out about Paul's scheme with Myk to make money on the side, so used some of that ill-gotten gain to get Lee a ticket to Germany.
Adam Redeems His Character by Helping Poppy Out on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 30th 2011 5:26AM
Adam has been in some desperate need of redemption on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). His behavior has been so abhorrent, even being a teenager wasn't enough to forgive it. But he went a little way in finding it by helping a friend out this week.Poppy may be an odd friend, seeing as how she's closer to Cathy's age than Adam's, but she seems to be interested in him genuinely as a friend, and she also seems to desperately need someone in her life.
When she dragged Adam to her 20-year high school reunion, he found out that she was a rather tortured and teased goth girl back in high school, and he also finds he's able to step up and help her save face with all the mean girls who used to pick on her.
Paul Learns He's a Bear on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

As 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime) has progressed, Cathy (Laura Linney) has often found herself making new friends to support her. However, when she brings home the very cute, younger-looking Lee (Hugh Dancy), Cathy's husband Paul (Oliver Platt) senses that he may have competition for her affections. "So you guys go to acupuncture together. You're like best friends now?"
As it turns out, he needn't have worried: Lee is 100 percent gay. As he puts it, "If anyone should be jealous, it's Cathy. You're actually my type, Paul."
Upping Paul's awkwardness quotient he added, "I'm into 'bears.' I like my men big and hairy."
Sean's Homemade Baby Sling Terrifies Moms at the Park on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

Sean is quickly turning into a favorite character on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). The schizophrenic, homeless-by-choice version of him was interesting as a foil for Cathy, but this medicated father-to-be is endearing and likable. We love how he's embracing impending fatherhood, without forsaking the unique traits that made him fascinating to begin with.
His baby sling invention, for example, seemed like a practical and logical solution, but thinking that moms in the park would ever put their babies in something cobbled together with dish towels and hot pads was insane.
Andrea Is Convinced Marlene Is Haunting Sean's House on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 19th 2011 2:30AM
While Paul was getting let go and Kathy was struggling to start her first day at the new clinical trial on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime), Sean was having a struggle of his own back at home. Even though his medications have helped tremendously with his bipolar tendencies, he'd begun to hear noises in the house. He simply thought he was going crazy, until Andrea (Gabourey Sidibe) stopped by and freaked him out even more about it.
When Sean shared that he felt like he was hearing ghosts, Andrea jumped at his supernatural speculation, exclaiming, "I believe in this s***." The former owner, Marlene, had recently committed suicide there.
Cathy Tries to Have Sex With Paul, But It's 'Aggressive and Weird' on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

Now that Cathy has accepted that she has cancer and opened up to others about it, she needs to find what will become her new normal on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). That means finding a healthy relationship with husband Paul again ... including marital relations.Paul, trying to be supportive, may have told her that he was fine with not having sex, but that wasn't true. Poor Andrea found that out first-hand when she accidentally walked in on Paul taking care of his "frustrations" himself.
When Cathy confronted him about it, he admitted that he was frustrated. She had, after all, just had an affair with another man and they'd had all kinds of crazy sex in all kinds of crazy places. And now, with him, she wanted nothing.
Cathy Decides to Make Her Own Doctor's Appointment on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 28th 2011 2:50AM
Sometimes all it takes is a little patience. But when you're living with cancer, and you're trying to get an appointment with a specialist, that can be in short supply. So short was Cathy's supply on the season premiere of 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime) that she went to the doctor's office without one and demanded that she be seen. What followed was probably one of the more embarrassing moments we could imagine for someone on a righteous crusade. After getting stonewalled at reception, Cathy turned to those in the waiting room.
"Congratulations on getting an appointment with Dr. Sherman," she told them. "Apparently one of the hottest tickets in town. So if any of you and maybe Stages 1-3 would considering letting me go first, that--"
