The Blind Side on 'Extreme Makeover' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted May 16th 2010 11:00PM
The Blind Side on 'Extreme Makeover'The real life inspiration for the film 'The Blind Side' appeared on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' (Sun., 8PM ET on ABC). Leigh Anne Tuohy -- the woman who was portrayed by Sandra Bullock in the movie -- is an actual interior designer. So you would think that the home makeover show would be a natural fit for her. But surprisingly, Tuohy expresses some frustration with the whole process.

Tuohy gets into some trouble with a construction worker and member of the team. She gives him some flack because she doesn't feel he's doing his job correctly. "I have an extremely domineering personality," she says. "It's type-A, is what they call it."

"When things go wrong on the sidelines, I just want to go out there and just -- you know -- smack somebody," Tuohy adds. Huh. On the other hand, as shown in 'The Blind Side,' when Leigh Anne gets involved and takes control, good stuff usually happens. So maybe it's a good thing.

Lynda Carter Wants Sandra Bullock to Don Wonder Woman's Tights

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 26th 2010 6:04PM
Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman...and so do I, except I'm pretty sure Mrs. Carter is referring to a new incarnation of her famous TV show.

TV's original red, white and blue-clad beauty told a morning talk show in Los Angeles that she wants Mrs. Bullock to play the title role in a big screen remake of 'Wonder Woman,' the TV show that made her famous.

Carter said she believes Bullock is perfect for the role because she has "exactly the kind of personality" and that she's also "strong and feminine. And Wonder Woman has to be accessible". She also dismissed rumors that claimed she said Bullock was too old for the role.

Me? If she gets the role, I just want to see her kick the ever-living snot out of some Jesse James bad-guy look-a-like. Jesse James is such a dead man now.

ABC Family Gets 'The Blind Side' Rights

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 9th 2010 8:45PM
The poster for A happy story that took home Oscar gold just got a little happier.

Fresh on the heels of Sandra Bullock's Best Actress win, ABC Family has announced that they have purchased the TV rights to 'The Blind Side.' They will air the film starring Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron sometime in 2012.

ABC Cable Network's executive veep Tom Zappala called it "a perfect fit for ABC Family," and I'm inclined to agree. Just don't try and turn it into a TV series remake that lasts longer than the actual time line of the story.

Vanessa Williams Bashes 'The Blind Side' on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 8th 2010 1:30PM
'The Blind Side' may have earned several Academy Award nominations and a Best Actress win for Sandra Bullock last night, but Vanessa Williams is clearly no fan of the movie. Williams said on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) that the film, which depicts a homeless African-American youngster who is adopted by an affluent white family, does little to improve race relations.

Williams argued that film only reinforces the notion that African-Americans need whites in order to succeed. "Here's another white family that has saved the day," she said, calling the film "another black story" in which "a white person comes in and lifts them up."

Review: Friday Night Lights - The Lights of Carrol Park

by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 14th 2010 1:25AM
friday_night_lights_riggins(S04E09) This is a really interesting time in television because there are not one or two or three excellent dramatic TV shows, there are a dozen I could name off the top of my head. Somewhat overlooked -- thanks to NBC -- is Friday Night Lights.

Amid Lost, 24, House, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Big Love, Damages, Sons of Anarchy, NCIS and others, the drama which some incorrectly think is just about Texas football, doesn't get its just desserts.

This was a typical episode of Friday Night Lights, layered with character development and conflicts, emotions out of whack, and problems that seem to crop up out of nowhere. It's a lot like life. For more on the show and what Tami and Eric were talking about in bed, follow me after the jump.

20/20's real story of The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock included

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 23rd 2009 9:02AM
the_blind_side_sandra_bullockUnless you've been living in a cave or don't keep up with what's playing at the local multiplex, you probably know that one of the biggest hits of the fall was the Sandra Bullock football movie The Blind Side.

No, that's not a typo. It is a Sandra Bullock football movie, but unlike Goldie Hawn's football movie -- Wildcats -- Sandra's movie was very good. It's so good that Sandra's probably going to get her first Oscar nomination and -- depending on the competition -- she could win.

Well, ABC has noticed that The Blind Side has struck a real chord with people. 20/20 will take advantage of the interest in the true story on which the movie is based to present the true story of The Blind Side.

They're calling the special edition of 20/20, "The Blind Side: The Real Story Behind the Movie." That was in case you thought you were going to tune in and see the movie.
