Edward James Olmos Talks About His 'Plan' for More 'Battlestar Galactica'
by Sandra Deane, posted Nov 10th 2009 12:55PM
'Battlestar Galactica' star Edward James Olmos was just as reluctant as fans to let the BSG universe go. Shortly after wrapping the series -- and his role as Admiral Adama -- Olmos stepped behind the lens to direct a film based on the Cylon point of view called 'The Plan.' Olmos recently explained to AOL Television that he has a plan of his own, and it's to make as many BSG films as possible. In fact, he's convinced that if you stop what you're doing right now and buy 'The Plan' on DVD, he may get to do just that. Read on to find out what other 'Galactica' tales he's got on the backburner, why he's still fuming over the sale of the set and how he draws a
parallel between BSG and that other little sci-fi epic he was in, 'Blade Runner.'

Mike will have a review of the new Battlestar Galactica: The Plan film soon, but I wanted to show you a couple of clips from the straight-to-DVD movie directed by Edward James Olmos.
The first clip is a meeting of the Cylons, and after the jump is a look at some of the visual effects.

Maxim is giving us half-naked Cylons
by Brad Trechak, posted Oct 17th 2009 10:02AM
In celebration of the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of the Battlestar Galactica movie "The Plan," Maxim is having a cover and series of photos of the two sexiest Cylons in the 12, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. Not that we need anything to be released in order to appreciate the half-naked bodies of Ms. Helfer and Ms. Park. Dictionary Day would be an adequate reason for me to admire these hard-working actresses.Notice how all the female Cylon models are quite attractive and the males ... aren't quite. For the females, we have Grace Park, Tricia Helfer, Lucy Lawless, Rekha Sharma and Kate Vernon (who is older, but still quite the knockout). On the male side there are more attractive male-model types (Callum Rennie and Michael Trucco, most notably), but we also have folks like Dean Stockwell, Michael Hogan and Aaron Douglas. When will the latter three be posing for Maxim?
On the new Battlestar flick, Justin Timberlake, and the space-time continuum
by Mike Moody, posted Aug 17th 2009 1:06PM
Now this is getting ridiculous. There's a rumor on the Web that Justin Timberlake might be cast in the new Battlestar Gactica movie. At first I didn't know what to make of Universal and Bryan Singer's plans to move ahead with a Battlestar Galactica reboot flick, but now I'm sure I want to see the project die a fiery, fiery death. Casting Justin Timberlake in a new Battlestar movie isn't the problem. The problem is that its just plain ridiculous to have two very different versions of the same beloved franchise out there at the same time. It'll be like Marty McFly running into his future self at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance in 1955. It could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum!
So Ron Moore ... what do you really think of the Emmys?
by Brad Trechak, posted Jul 25th 2009 3:00AM
We know that Caprica is coming to Syfy on January 22nd. We also know that Edward James Olmos is directing the Battlestar Galactica TV movie "The Plan."An extra little tidbit of news today is Ron Moore's response to the Emmy committee for their snub of the final season of the show. In short, he is not a happy camper.
I wish I could say I was surprised by the Emmy snub, but Hollywood committees do tend to ignore science fiction and fantasy shows when it comes to awards (The Lord of the Rings being the only exception that comes to mind, and that's based on a pretty classic trilogy of books).
The good news is that really good science fiction develops a following that goes far beyond any sort of award recognition. Look at Star Wars. Did that Academy even notice that one? Not really. Yet it still sells loads of merchandise. Battlestar Galactica will likely do the same for some time to come.
Quick Recap: BSG, Caprica Panel - Comic-Con Report
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jul 24th 2009 6:32PM
For a guy who seemed reluctant to climb aboard a Battlestar Galactica series when it first launched, Edward James Olmos is committed body and soul now.At a Friday early afternoon press conference at Comic-Con International, Olmos hosted a BSG: Caprica - The Plan event to show preview footage of the new Caprica show and to discuss The Plan movie he directed to continue Syfy's top original franchise. The DVD release for that film hits stores on Oct. 27.
Olmos alluded to his one-time hesitance to become full-time commander of the Galactica when he told fans, "I'm on board Battlestar Galactica for the rest of my life." That would have brought a huge cheer from fans at a panel, but reporters and such tend to be more subdued.
Olmos' enthusiasm and partial contrition is a classy way of saying, "I never foresaw how successful BSG would be, and I know a good thing when I see it." In fact, the sci-fi epic completely resurrected his career.
Caprica premieres January 22, 2009 on Syfy.
