'Community' May Be Just a Figment of Joel McHale's Imagination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 12:00AM
'Community' cast - 'The Soup'With 'Community' airing its final scheduled episode this week (Save Greendale!), the cast stopped by to visit Joel McHale on 'The Soup' (Wed., 10PM ET on E!) with some startling news. When McHale asked why Chevy Chase wasn't with them, Ken Jeong told him, "There is no Chevy. He's a figment of your imagination."

Eventually, after Adam Scott and Nick Kroll joined them on set, it was revealed that not only were the pair of them also figments of his imagination, but so was the entire cast. Mankini explained: "This is just a delusion you created so you wouldn't have to face the face that you only work at E!"

Alison Brie chimed in, "If 'Community' were real, don't you think you would have seen a commercial for it on NBC?"

Jessica Chastain Talks About 'The Help,' and 'The Soup' on 'Good Day New York' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 22nd 2011 4:15PM
Jessica Chastain and her character from 'The Help' on 'Good Day New York'Jessica Chastain had a lot to say about her unexpected box office smash, 'The Help,' on 'Good Day New York' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox), but she was also curious about host Greg Kelly's relationship with 'The Soup.' Joel McHale has periodically lambasted Kelly on that show.

Chastain said she was a big fan of the book 'The Help,' and thought the film would do well. But she wasn't as big a fan as her grandmother. "Actually my grandmother is probably the biggest fan of the book, and, so yeah," she said. "I felt that if she brought all of her friends that we were going to be a big success." Grandmom was a little suspicious of her granddaughter being cast as Celia, but she got over it when Chastain brought her to the premiere.

Chastain said she was also a fan of 'The Soup.' Kelly thanked her but said it was humiliating to appear on the show. She said she'd be excited to see Kelly and McHale debate, and Kelly said there will be a response to McHale's teasing. "I can't tell you anything else, but we've got a counter-attack in the works," he said. If it takes that long for a witty counter-attack, 'Good Day New York' may be better off letting it go.

Mark McGrath Is Wacky on 'Wendy Williams' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Mar 24th 2011 9:30PM
Mark McGrath on 'The Wendy Williams Show'Mark McGrath made the cut as Clip of the Week -- and the No. 1 clip of the year, on 'The Soup' for a 2010 appearance on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated). He was back on the show Thursday, and both McGrath and Williams were beaming with the pride of their accomplishment.

McGrath praised Williams' "crowd," but said they were dangerous, because they made him think he was funny. "Last time I was here I was talking so much because you guys were laughing so hard," he said, "and then Joel McHale got me on 'The Soup.' "

Williams saw the year-end wrap up show, and said it made her feel like "a proud mother" to see the clip of McGrath pop up. McGrath also confessed that when he was on 'Extra,' he and his co-host would actually try to get on 'The Soup.' "The cheesier the better," he said, "and let's just say we got on a few times."

The Last Episode of 'The Tyra Show' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted May 31st 2010 7:45PM
The Last Episode of 'The Tyra Show'Well, that's the end. This is the last episode of 'The Tyra Show' (weekdays, syndicated). We've had some highs, some lows, a lot of uses of the word "fierce," and a lot of clips that ended up being parodied on 'The Soup.' On her last episode, Tyra cries, thanks her audience -- and kisses the floor.

During her farewell monologue, Tyra talks about how her critics predicted that the show would be canceled within two weeks. She also lists all her accomplishments as a model, photographer, and host of 'that little model show' ('America's Next Top Model'). After doing some crying, she thanks her audience for "what guys you have allowed me to be." Tyra then says this: "I am humble." Then, she kisses the floor of her studio.

Right. We're not sure if gushing about your own achievements, weeping about your own show, and attacking your critics counts as being "humble." But it did at least provide us with another uniquely "Tyra-esque" moment for the ages. And thank you, Tyra. We will miss you and your zaniness.

Joel McHale Isn't Leaving 'The Soup,' Says Writer Tess Rafferty

by Nick Zaino, posted May 27th 2010 6:04PM
Tess Rafferty, writer for 'The Soup'For the past six years, Joel McHale has led one of television's most enjoyable clubhouses on 'The Soup.' It's a place where the crew and writers can get in on the fun and even get onscreen.

But ever since 'Community' became a hit for McHale, and he has been shooting films with Steve Martin and Anna Farris, rumors have been circulating that McHale might leave 'The Soup,' rumors that McHale has denied.

You can count longtime 'Soup' writer Tess Rafferty among those who think McHale will stay. She says she has no reason to believe McHale will leave, and that any speculation to the contrary is just that, speculation. "It really is," she says. "They've been doing that for years. Also, Joel sees it as a personal challenge to push himself to the point of death working on projects. Then they'll make a reality show of that and we'll cover it on 'The Soup.'"

Joel McHale on Ryan Seacrest's Web siteThe feud between Joel McHale and Ryan Seacrest heated up yesterday when the 'Community' and 'The Soup' star redesigned Seacrest's web site for April Fool's Day. The site was packed with McHale-related photos, audio clips, video clips, and links. The 'American Idol' banner ads showed McHale's photo. Even the Twitter link went to McHale's account, where he disclosed Seacrest's Twitter password to be "hairlesslittlechoirboybody."

According to Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch column, the site was crippled with traffic for a portion of the day, but was available later. McHale's Facebook update, shown on the right side of the site, asked readers to help crash the site again and to keep visiting Seacrest's Twitter account.
