The Stig Speaks! An Interview With Former 'Top Gear' Driver Ben Collins

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 4th 2010 3:00PM
Racing driver Ben Collins and The Stig from BBC's 'Top Gear'Some say The Stig fell to Earth from a speeding meteorite and landed behind the wheel of a Koenigsegg CCX before the producers of the successful BBC car show 'Top Gear' chose him to be their mute racing driver.

Others said he was actually a clone combination of seven race car drivers, chemically and genetically designed to drive everything from a fully-tweaked Lamgorgini Murcelagio to a gas-powered snowmobile down a steep ski jump ramp.

But Jeremy Clarkson, the colorful and outspoken 'Top Gear' host, called him a "greedy twat."

Ben Collins, the Formula Three circuit, British GT Championship and Le Mans Series racing driver, was revealed as The Stig thi ssummer thanks to a British high court ruling. Collins finally got to speak of his time as The Stig in a new book called 'The Man in the White Suit,' which hit bookstores in the States this week.

British Judge Un-Helmets The Stig

by Danny Gallagher, posted Sep 2nd 2010 11:20AM
Last week, the BBC tried to stop a major book publisher from revealing the identity of "The Stig," the "tame racing driver" from BBC's 'Top Gear.'

The judge went ahead and revealed it for them. Well done, judgey-wudgey. I can't wait to see how he handles next week's ax murder case. Something tells me I'd better whip out the ponchos left over from that Gallagher concert.

The judge refused to import an injunction against HarperCollins that would have prevented them from publishing a book that reveals The Stig's true identity in great detail. Upon hearing the judge's decision, HarperCollins issued a press release that definitively reveals his identity.

A strong word of warning: if you prefer to continue enjoying the mystery of The Stig's, er, mysteriousness, I strongly recommend that you do not read the rest of this story after the jump. All complaints about spoilers will be met with scorn and/or ridicule (possibly in that order, depending on how much energy we have at the time).

The Chaser's War on the Stig

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 25th 2009 1:08PM
Even though the mystery of The Stig has been revealed both in the TV world and the real world, Top Gear's tame racing driver still has an aura of mystery and notoriety about him. So why not exploit it for personal gain and/or goods and services?

Willmore2000, one of our many bleary-eyed TV lovers, told us to check out The Stig's image being exploited for personal gain by The Chaser's War on Everything, a great Australian satirical prank show that used to get a good deal of airtime on G4 until they realized that original programming that doesn't involve forcing people to vomit on camera does not belong on their network.

All Danny wants for Festivus

I love Christmas. It is the best holiday. If all of the holidays grew asses, Christmas could kick every other holiday's ass by ripping off their ass and beating them to death with said ass.

It's perfect on every conceivable level. It aims to achieve total peace and tranquility of the human spirit and singularity of the soul through the selfless act of giving. Of course, in order for that to work, someone has to be on the receiving end and I'm more than willing to have my every dream fulfilled in the name of calming the cosmic waves.

So here's my wish list to Santa or Jesus or Buddha or whomever holds the universe in balance for things to suck less until the next holiday.

Some say The Stig has a face and that he'll reveal it on the next season of Top Gear

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 23rd 2009 9:02PM
The new season of Top Gear hasn't hit the US airwaves yet, but it seems the most recent has ended, as Jeremy Clarkson might put it, on quite a bombshell.

The Stig
, the show's mysterious test driver, actually revealed his identity during the last season, probably the new one headed stateside next month. So if you're a fan of the show and hate spoilers, don't watch it. Also, some say his eyes can emit laser beams that can cook potatoes from the inside and that people have mistaken the mole on his face for an image of the Virgin Mary. All we know is we won't be held responsible for the consequences.

Some say he has seven clones of himself and that all of them are taller than Richard Hammond...

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 1st 2009 6:01PM
Television is a mysterious world full of ... um, mysteries. Mysteries like what was Rebecca's job when she started working at Cheers? Who puts the mother in How I Met Your Mother? Has anyone anywhere in the universe ever voluntarily watched an entire episode of According to Jim?

One of your idiot box's biggest mysteries has been answered, sort of.

The Daily Mail of London revealed they have unearthed the true identity of The Stig, Top Gear's "tame racing driver."
