The Warblers Sing 'Hey, Soul Sister' on 'Today' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 19th 2011 3:10PM
The Warblers used to be a fictional a cappella group from 'Glee.' They are a little closer to being a real group, with an appearance on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) and a new album, 'Glee: The Music Presents the Warblers.' On the show, the Warblers are given voice by an a cappella group called The Beelzebubs, the Tufts University troupe who also competed on 'The Sing-Off.' Actors Chris Colfer and Darren Criss handle their own leads. It was the actors from the show backing Criss on the 'Today' appearance, on which the Warblers sang the Train hit 'Hey, Soul Sister.' The Warblers' version of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' hit reached no. 1 on the Billboard charts with Criss singing, something he still has a hard time believing. "It just happened so quickly and we've all been so thrilled that there's been such a positive reception," said Criss.
Criss said the 'Glee' schedule keeps him pretty busy, and he hasn't had time to think about a solo album yet. He said it certainly isn't out of the question, and it's a safe bet the opportunity will present itself.
