The World According to Paris

Oxygen Ready to Cancel 'The World According to Paris'?

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 24th 2011 2:10PM
Paris Hilton is used to things going her way, but 'The World According to Paris' may just be going away.

According to a report in Vulture, Oxygen plans to cancel the poorly-rated reality show after its first season.

The hotel heiress's show struggled to gain an audience from the get-go, averaging just 400,000 viewers per week. Perhaps a sign of trying economic times, the hijinks of a billionaire glamor-queen just didn't have the same mass-appeal as they once did.

Hilton generated headlines recently for reasons that were related to the show's failure. She abruptly walked out of an interview with 'Good Morning America's' Dan Harris after he asked if she was worried about the show's ratings, or that her cultural relevance may be fading. After walking out, Hilton returned to finish the interview.

'The World According to Paris'Paris Hilton has certain standards for celebrating her birthday. "It's not a birthday unless I celebrate it in at least two time zones," she explained on 'The World According to Paris' (Wed., 10PM ET on Oxygen).

We're sure most Americans feel that way, which is why most Americans will have to simply stop celebrating their birthdays.

But Hilton has no problems having a lavish party in New York in anticipation of the "big party in LA" in a couple days time. Until then, she had to settle for the likes of Adrian Grenier, Lil' Wayne and Kathy Griffin to keep her satisfied.

Paris Hilton, 'The World According to Paris'One of the darkest chapters of Paris Hilton's life was the infamous 2003 leak of a sex tape featuring her and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon. So she was a little upset when she found out her friend Brooke Mueller was still friends with Salomon on 'The World According to Paris' (Wed., 10PM ET on Oxygen).

Hilton said she equated some of her current insecurities to that leak, at which point Mueller was a little taken aback.

"I totally thought you were involved," she said, after admitting her ongoing friendship with Salomon. Mueller was not only under the impression Hilton was involved in the leak, but thought she'd raked in half the earnings as well.

'The World According to Paris'If you're going to be four hours late meeting your boyfriend, it might not be a good idea to have him waiting at a party overflowing with booze. Brooke Mueller, 'The World According to Paris'Tonight's episode of 'The World According to Paris' (Wed., 10PM ET on Oxygen) caught up to the headlines as we delved into the moment when Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Mueller realized it was all too much. But Mueller checked out of it early, clearly suffering from an inner turmoil the cameras couldn't capture.

Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton's new reality show, 'The World According to Paris,' debuted on Oxygen last week to disastrous ratings. However, rather than accepting at least some of the blame, Hilton's instead pointing her finger at the network.

"Paris is furious that the show didn't premiere at the time it was supposed to," an insider told Popeater. "She worked her tail off doing promotion and publicity for the show and then because of a technical mistake, the show aired at a completely different time in a lot of markets."

Paris Hilton's Boyfriend Calls Her a Liar on 'The World According to Paris' (VIDEO)

Paris Hilton, 'The World According to Paris'Trust is the cornerstone of any good relationship, which could spell trouble for Paris Hilton and Cy Waits. It was in short supply from Waits when he found out about a texting conversation Hilton had with an old boyfriend on the premiere of 'The World According to Paris' (Wed., 10PM ET on Oxygen).

The show marks Hilton's return to television after a lengthy absence, and her efforts to shed her party-girl image from the past and show us the new and more mature woman she's becoming. But it would help if her boyfriend could start seeing her that way.

The crux of the argument came from the phrase "hook up." Waits insists it's confirmation that Hilton had slept with this guy -- three years ago! -- while she said it doesn't necessarily mean sex.
