Steve Jones Wants to Tear Off Rob Lowe's Face and Wear It (VIDEO)

Rob Lowe, 'Countdown to the Emmys'Steve Jones is still a bit of an unknown commodity to most Americans, so having him host their special 'Countdown to the Emmys' (Sun., 7PM ET on FOX), was a great move by the network. It gives us some face-time with the man who will be the host of 'The X Factor.'

As it is likely to be the biggest show of the fall, he may be on the cusp of Ryan Seacrest levels of fame. On the way, though, he may have freaked out Rob Lowe a little bit. Luckily, Lowe's sons appeared to freak him out even more directly afterward.

First, after Amanda Byram was interviewing Lowe and his family in a very traditional way for a while, Jones interjected. "Rob, if I may," he said. "I would like to tear your face off and put it on my face."

Paley Center next in line to try and kill the Emmy elephant

Paley Center AwardsThe Emmys have been the reigning king of awarding television excellence and snubbing true television excellence since the dawn of the medium.

Many have tried to topple the immovable giant, but none have succeeded. That doesn't mean no one is willing to still try. The Paley Center for Media is shopping their own television awards show to the networks.

So far, none of the networks have made an official deal and the Center denies that their show is attempting to knock Emmy off the face of the Earth, but the timing seems to suggest otherwise. The Emmys' deal with the network runs out next year and has grown tired of its stale ratings and favoritism towards the cable shows. Well maybe if the networks stopped airing the Emmys, they would have more time for shows that are actually good.

  • Life on MarsAt 7, USA has U.S. Open coverage, with Andre Agassi playing. USA has coverage for the next two weeks, from 11am to 5pm, then a dinner break, then 7:30pm to late night.
  • At 8pm, FOX has a new Prison Break, followed by a new Vanished.
  • NBC has a new special at 8, Katrina: The Long Road Back.
  • There's a new Kyle XY at 8 on ABC Family.
  • At 9, TNT has a new episode of The Closer, followed by a new episode of Saved.
  • Lifetime has a new mystery movie at 9, Circle of Friends.
  • If you missed the Emmys last night, Bravo reruns it at 9.
  • BBC America has a new Life On Mars at 10.
