'Lost'(9PM, ABC)
It's the 100th episode of the series, and one of the final four of the season, so it's only fitting that 'The Variable' delivers some major scoop.
This one's Faraday-centric, as the shaggy physicist begins to unveil all that he knows about the island. At the end of 'Some Like It Hoth,' Faraday showed up on the island as a scientist working for the Dharma Initiative. That factors into tonight's revelations, which also includes Mrs. Hawking and the truth about her connection to Charles Widmore.
And all this is leading up to the fifth season finale – the penultimate 'Lost' season finale ever – in which, rumor has it, another major Gilligan bites the dust.

'The Unusuals'(10PM, ABC) series premiere
The title pithily sums up the quirky, secrets-keeping detectives of the NYPD's Homicide unit, where Det. Casey Shraeger (Amber Tamblyn) is transferred to after working undercover as a hooker in Vice.
She's paired with Det. Walsh (Jeremy Renner), who's obsessed with tracking down the murderer of his former partner. The rest of the motley crew includes Delahoy (Adam Goldberg), who wants to get killed on the job and his partner, Banks (Harold Perrineau), who's so afraid of dying on the job that he won't remove his bulletproof vest.
Then there's super religious Cole (Josh Close), who's trying to keep his shady past a secret from his partner and his boss.

'Better Off Ted'(8:30PM, ABC) series premiere
Veridian Dynamics' Research and Development head Ted is beginning to wonder if his company might be just a tad shy of what could be termed ethical.
The single dad ('Desperate Housewives' Jay Harrington) is a team player in this new workplace comedy (he helps Veridian turn pumpkins into weapons of mass destruction for a foreign client), but now his frosty boss Veronica (Portia de Rossi) wants Ted to cryogenically freeze one of his co-workers.
Even Ted's seven-year-old thinks it's a bad idea, and further interaction with one-night-stand Veronica could hurt Ted's chances with his new co-worker crush, but as he soon finds out, Veronica doesn't like to take no for an answer.

'Top Chef'(10PM, Bravo) 5th season finale
He's certainly been the cockiest contestant this season, but does that mean Finland-born chef Stefan is a lock to nab the 'Top Chef' title?
A fan poll at Bravotv.com predicts Washington D.C.-based caterer Carla will emerge victorious in tonight's showdown, as the three finalists – which also includes Boulder chef Hosea – end the season by cooking up more tasty creole vittles in New Orleans.
Guest judge and "King of Creole Cooking" Emeril Lagasse helps decide which of the contestants will nab the $100,000 prize.
Showtime is calling The Exterminators
by Brad Trechak, posted Jul 9th 2008 2:20PM
It looks like the comic book invasion of the movie theaters is coming to television. Showtime has picked up a drama project based on the DC Comics/Vertigo series The Exterminators (although apparently the television adaption will simply be called Exterminators). The comic book was created by Simon Oliver and Tony Moore. The series will be produced by Sara Colleton, whose credits include Riding In Cars With Boys, Live From Baghdad, The Painted Veil and Dexter. The comic revolves around an ex-con who joins an exterminator company with a freakish cast of supporting characters and several mysteries involving his girlfriend and pesticide manufacturing. Originally conceived of by writer Simon Oliver as a television pitch, it's been described as Six Feet Under but with pest control.
Having never read the original comic (although I found an online review of the first issue), it certainly seems an interesting concept (aren't they all?). It seems to have a Twilight Zone-ish, sinister vibe that may make for interesting viewing.
