Andy Samberg Meets Rahm Emanuel at the White House

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 24th 2010 9:00PM
Part of me misses the early and some of the latter days of 'Saturday Night Live.' At least the people being poked fun of had enough humility and humor to appear with the people that were poking fun of them like Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush and even Newt Gingrich.

Maybe those days are here once again.

A Washington Post gossip column item reveals that someone spotted 'SNL's' Andy Samberg walking into the White House gates, reportedly to meet President Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel, a meeting that was arranged by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd. Something tells me it had something to do with this.

'Saturday Night Live' - 'Jude Law/Pearl Jam' Recap

Congratulations, Jude Law. That was a solid episode all around and a fine return to the 'Saturday Night Live' stage. And despite the fact that Pearl Jam was virtually unrecognizable to any ears that haven't heard them since the early-'90s, at least Law's musical guest didn't have any reason to do an awkward hoedown during a career-crippling blunder.

Cold Open: Of course they had to talk about this. Of course. Now, if you haven't read up on the incredibly weird Eric Massa story, it probably would have seemed like 'SNL' was just making up most of it. Unfortunately, they weren't. Maybe that's why they felt that ridiculously long intro was necessary? Anyway, the treatment of this topic was all right, though the absolute best part was Bobby Moynihan as Massa, attempting stealth snorkeling on Andy Samberg (the weak distraction was especially nice). And no, sorry, you can't unsee it.

Justin Timberlake heard you wanted "Motherlover" uncensored

Motherlover

Oh, Justin Timberlake. You know what your audience wants and you give it to them ... uncensored-style. Hot.

In the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg gave everyone and their mom a real treat in the form of the "Motherlover" Digital Short. The video was quickly uploaded onto NBC.com and promptly exploded all over the Internet in a mildly graphic and suggestive way. It was from the actual live airing, though, so audience laughter, bleeped words, and less-than-superb sound quality were inevitable.

Justin Timberlake and Will Ferrell to wrap up SNL season

by Annie Wu, posted Apr 16th 2009 1:17PM
Will FerrellBelieve it or not (and like it or not), there are only two episodes left in the 34th season of Saturday Night Live. It looks like no one from my "Nine people who must host SNL next season" wish list actually did it, but that's okay because there were some great stand-outs anyway, including Anne Hathaway and Jon Hamm.

The show seems determined to end with a bang, bringing in two sure-to-deliver performers. May 9th will bring in Justin Timberlake (and musical guest Ciara) and season finale duties will be left up to former SNL player Will Ferrell.

TV Squad Ten: Top SNL Digital Shorts - VIDEOS

by Annie Wu, posted Feb 11th 2009 11:03AM
Lonely Island
To celebrate the release of The Lonely Island's debut album "Incredibad," we've compiled this list of the top ten Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts. For almost four years, Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer have brought us these videos, and they've managed to keep us laughing and humming their tunes weeks after they've aired. We hope this countdown makes you feel just as SNL-y in your digital shorts as when you first saw the videos, and if not, that's okay too. We're glad you're here anyway.

Of course, the rule is that they must have been prefaced by the "An SNL Digital Short" card to qualify. We know how much you love "Virgania Horsen's Hot Air Balloon Rides," but it's not happening. Sorry.

Saturday Night Live: Bradley Cooper/TV On The Radio - VIDEOS

Bradley Cooper, who are you and what are you doing on Saturday Night Live? I IMDb'd him before watching the episode and despite having seen many of his projects, I still couldn't attach him to anything. Is he best known for something? Or is He's Just Not That Into You his big break-out? Well, regardless, his performance in this episode wasn't mind-blowing, but at least it wasn't cringe-worthy either (exceptions can be considered for the Christian Bale sketch). The writers didn't give him anything terribly exciting and in the end we were left with a pretty forgettable episode. Here are some video highlights.

Saturday Night Live: Rainn Wilson/Arcade Fire - VIDEOS

by Annie Wu, posted Feb 25th 2007 11:04AM
Rainn Wilson and Arcade Fire(S32E14) Rainn Wilson is probably best known from NBC's The Office, in which he plays the incredibly funny Dwight Schrute. As always, just because an actor does well in a sitcom doesn't necessarily mean it all translates on Saturday Night Live. Fortunately, Wilson delivered a great performance that was on par with the show's actual cast members. This was a pleasant surprise for me, so I really wish that the weeks' writing had done better justice to Wilson's talent.

Behind the scenes of SNL

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jan 28th 2006 5:50PM

The Lonely IslandNow this is just plain ol' funny. Seems that during the Scarlett Johansson & Death Cab for Cutie episode of Saturday Night Live from a few weeks ago, someone turned on a camera to catch this during a Death Cab rehearsal.

It's a bit dark, but you can clearly make out Jorma Taccone (of The Lonely Island) dancing topless while Ben Gibbard sings "Soul Meets Body." Jorma, in the middle of the picture to the right, along with Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer, all joined SNL at the same time. Jorma and Akiva are writers for the show now. The best part of the video is when it pans over to Bill Hader standing off to the side. He's just shaking his head in disapproval. It's hilarious. Not sure who our mystery cameraman is, but if you're reading this - please post more of this stuff to the net.

[Thanks to Katie for bringing this to our attention.]
