The press kits have just begun rolling in, and for the most part the networks haven't gotten nearly as fancy with the packaging as they did last season. FOX had a reputation for going way out of their way to make their packaging stand out, but the first couple of screeners sent (Prison Break, for example) didn't have much more than the DVD. If you're like me, you're probably wondering -- who the heck is Dominic Bowden? According to internet rumors, Dominic Bowden, a reality TV host from New Zealand, is in secret negotiations with a "major US reality TV show" that "will be as big as American Idol."

There is speculation that Bowden is about to take on the Ryan-Seacrest-like hosting duties of the American Idol spin-off -- The Next Great American Band. While Bowden has hosted three seasons of NZ Idol, this could be his big break in America and turn him into a household name.

The Next Great American Band will have its series premiere Friday, October 19, 2007 on FOX. There has not been an official announcement regarding American Band hosting duties as of yet.

Last week, the producers of American Idol made a surprise announcement about the launch of a new reality show, called The Next Great American Band. However, the producers of a different reality competition, called America's Hot Musician, are claiming that they had the idea first -- and they're trying to halt the production of Idol's spin-off.

America's Hot Musician is the brainchild of American Youth Symphony (AYS), a non-profit whose mission is "to promote instrumental music in the MTV/Hip Hop Generation," says AYS Artistic Director Gregory Charles Royal.
