'The View' Debates Herman Cain's Latest Scandal (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 29th 2011 2:10PM
Herman Cain is currently in the process of "reassessing his candidacy" after a Georgia woman came forward Monday alleging that she and the Republican presidential candidate were involved in a 13-year extramarital affair. This new revelation comes on the heels of allegations of sexual harassment from four separate women, all of which he denied fervently.

The ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tackled the scandal in their 'Hot Topics' segment, and as usual, opinions different around the table. Whoopi Goldberg observed that this latest accusation isn't against the law, and wondered if it was the public's business at all. Sherri Shepherd said it would be hard to trust a man running for president who's been this deceptive in his private life.

'The View' Discusses the Michele Bachmann Intro Song Controversy (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 28th 2011 4:40PM
Last week, when the women of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) discussed Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's 'One Word' appearance on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' the conversation focused mostly on the awkwardness of the segment and Bachmann's jabs at her fellow Republican nominees. But after their initial chat, the national conversation about the appearance re-focused on the intro music that Fallon's house band The Roots played as Bachmann walked onto the stage, a song entitled 'Lyin' Ass Bitch.'

Justin Bieber Tells 'The View' Why He Took a DNA Test (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 23rd 2011 4:00PM
Justin Bieber went on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) Wednesday, where he talked about the DNA test he took to exonerate himself from allegations that he fathered Mariah Yeater's baby.

Barbara Walters asked him why he felt compelled to take the paternity test even though he hadn't been ordered to by acourt, and Bieber explained he did it voluntarily to clear his name. "I did it because I wanted to, I just wanted everything to be out in the open, and be like listen, 'there's no reason for this to be a discussion.'"

'The View' Ladies Mock Michele Bachmann's 'One Word' Fallon Interview (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 22nd 2011 1:45PM
Michele Bachmann's awkward interview on 'Late Night' is making the rounds on the web after she played a game of 'One Word' with Jimmy Fallon. With the lights dimmed, Fallon tried to take the Congresswoman through some word association, but before he could get the game started she blurted out "Partymonkey!" and "cranberries." Once they finally got going, she used the opportunity to toss a few zingers at her fellow Republican presidential candidates.

Tuesday on 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) the panel replayed a clip from the interview and went around the table sharing the one word they'd use to describe Bachmann. "Oops!" cracked Joy Behar. Barbara Walters chose not to share hers. "I don't think I will say it," she demurred. "Bonehead!" offered Sherri Shepherd. Whoopi Goldberg put a bow on the ladies' Bachmann opinions. "She looked fantastic ... but she's not presidential material, I'm sorry, she's not. Just my opinion."

Eric Stonestreet Thanks 'The View' for Hooking Him Up With His Girlfriend (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 18th 2011 3:00PM
Eric Stonestreet plays Cam on 'Modern Family,' and does such a good job in the role that many viewers are convinced he's gay in real life, too. But that's not the case. Stonestreet told 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) the last time he was on that he was "openly straight," and as it turns out, that line helped him meet his current girlfriend.

Stonestreet updated the ladies on his relationship status when he stopped by on Friday. "I didn't know it at the time, but one of the people watching that show that day was my now-girlfriend, and when I met her she was doing a show on Broadway called 'Rock of Ages,'" he explained. "I kinda always felt like I had to dig myself out of a bit of a hole, and tell girls know that I'm actually straight. But she was like, "Oh, I was watching 'The View' and saw that you weren't gay!' And we're still together."

Regis Wants to Be the Next Andy Rooney (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 17th 2011 2:45PM
As the Regis Philbin Farewell Tour enters the home stretch before his final 'Live' show on Friday, the Reeg's TV future remains unclear. He filmed a pilot episode of a reality show, but didn't take to the genre, and the project never went anywhere.

Tuesday on 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) Regis came up with an innovative idea for next move. Instead of starting his own new show, he'd like to just be featured on the last five minutes of someone else's show.

"I want to be Andy Rooney!" he yelled. "I'll just spend five minutes with whoever's there," he continued, and when Elisabeth Hasselbeck joked that maybe he should assume that role on 'The View,' he jumped at the idea. "Now you're talkin' baby!"

Barbara Walters Would Like to Know If Justin Bieber Is a Virgin (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 16th 2011 5:00PM
There are so many puzzling elements to the Justin Bieber paternity scandal. Is he the father? Is Mariah Yeater a liar? Will he be doing a paternity test on 'Maury'? But, in advance of Bieber's interview next week on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Barbara Walters has been pondering one question in particular: is Bieber a virgin?

"Do you think he's a virgin?" she asked the Hasselbeck-less panel, causing her fellow-hosts to start chattering over each other. "I think we decided we don't actually care," Whoopi Goldberg said. "It's none of our business" Sherri Sheppard responded. "He's not free to go through puberty on his own ... leave him alone," Joy Behar said.

Taken aback by their response, Barbara reconsidered asking Bieber if he was still in possession of his V-Card. "Then I just won't do it," she joked.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Takes Sick Day From 'The View' After Argument With Bill Maher

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 16th 2011 1:00PM
The day after getting into an awkward argument with Bill Maher that made headlines around the Web, Elisabeth Hasselbeck was noticeably absent from 'The View.'

As it turns out, the whole ordeal may have left Hasselbeck with a big headache. On her Twitter account, she attributed the absence to a "major migraine."

A representative for 'The View' confirmed that Hasselbeck went home sick, telling AOL TV, "Elisabeth was here this morning in studio and was scheduled to be on the live show, she went home because she wasn't feeling well."

On Tuesday's show, Hasselbeck got into an extended confrontation with the comedian about a joke he made in February involving her and CBS correspondent Lara Logan. Despite the fact that Maher made the joke before it was publicly known that Logan had been sexually assaulted in Tahrir Square, Hasselbeck asked him if he would "say that again, if you're so supportive of women?" Later in the interview, she sarcastically said to Maher, "You're so brilliant, wow, I actually feel smarter sitting next to you." Tuesday night on 'Letterman,' Maher continued to joke about the uncomfortable interview.

Bill Maher Relives His Trauma on 'The View' With David Letterman (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 3:00AM
Bill Maher, 'Late Show'Bill Maher's session with the women of 'The View' didn't go exactly to plan, thanks to Elisabeth Hasselbeck appearing to hold a grudge for an old joke he made about her. It made for such an uncomfortable moment, that David Letterman asked Maher about it on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS).

"I was abused. I felt like a teenage boy at Penn State," Maher quipped to a stunned crowd. But while Letterman's crowd wasn't sure they could get behind Maher after that joke, he said the incident with Hasselbeck united his Twitter followers behind him.

"It's always like 50/50," he admitted of his followers. "Today it was just all for me. It was like, 'thank you Elisabeth Hasselbeck for making me look good!'"

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Spars With Bill Maher Over Egypt Joke on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 15th 2011 2:30PM
Bill Maher probably thought he was going on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about the comically inept field of Republican presidential candidates, and maybe to plug his book, 'The New New Rules.' Instead, his segment was sidetracked by Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who seemed hurt and outraged by a joke Maher told about her and CBS correspondent Lara Logan nearly a year ago.

On the Feb. 4 episode of 'Real Time,' as the Egyptian protests in Tahrir Square were unfolding, Maher made the following joke about Logan and Hasselbeck. "New rule: now that Hosni Mubarak has released Lara Logan, he must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately. In exchange, we will send Elisabeth Hasselbeck." Over a week later, on Feb. 15, the public would learn that Logan had suffered a brutal sexual assault on Feb. 11 in Tahrir Square. When Maher told the joke, he couldn't have known that Logan had been raped.

Despite that timeline, Hasselbeck started the segment by reading the joke back to Maher, and asking if he still stood behind it. "Would you say that again, if you're so supportive of women?"

Tom Selleck Salutes Military Veterans on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 11th 2011 6:00PM
For Veteran's Day, 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) brought on Tom Selleck, a veteran of the California Army National Guard before becoming an actor. Elisabeth Hasselbeck thanked him for his service, and the ladies oggled at an old photo of Selleck in his uniform.

Selleck was on his way to Washington to help promote an education center at the Vietnam Memorial Wall that, as he said, "tells the stories of all the fallen from all our wars. While there, he can go visit some old mementos from his past. The Smithsonian houses his Hawaiian shirt, Detroit Lions hat and ring from 'Magnum P.I.' "They recognize this as the first show that really recognized Vietnam vets in a positive light," Selleck explained.

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 10th 2011 7:00PM
After being eliminated from 'Dancing With The Stars' this week, Nancy Grace and her partner Tristan MacManus came on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to do the tango one last time.

Grace also took the opportunity to defend the duo's eight-week stay on the show. Sherri Shepherd brought up the fact that even although she has her haters, Grace did 'DWTS' while holding down a nightly show on HLN. "You mean I was the one with a job?" she huffed, still out of breath from the dance.

Christina Applegate Is Giving the 'Up All Night' Writers Tips on Writing a New Mom (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 7th 2011 5:00PM
The cast of 'Up All Night' are pretty much all raising young children in their personal lives: Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, Nick Cannon, and Christina Applegate are all new-ish parents. Applegate stopped by 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where she talked about the similarities between her real parenting life and her character Reagan's, and explained that she's given tips to the show's writers based on her own experience.

Before she even agreed to do the show, Applegate told the producers she needed special provisions to account for her daughter. She had a nursery built on-set, and her daughter spends a lot of time there while they're shooting. "They had to built me a room for her ... it's got her toys and a crib, and she takes her naps there and walks around," Applegate said.

Kris Jenner Continues Damage Control Tour, Tears Up on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 2nd 2011 3:50PM
Kris Jenner's damage-control daytime TV tour continued in the wake of her daughter Kim's bombshell divorce, as she stopped by the 'The View' after two morning sit-downs with 'Today.' Barbara Walters got the interview off to an awesome start, misstating that Kim and Kris Humphries had been married for 72 hours instead of 72 days and wondering what could possibly go wrong in such a short amount of time.

Jenner went on to repeat much of what she'd already said, but teared up for a moment when talking about how this is a hard time for her family. "It's a tough time for Kim, and for the family ... I'm sorry, I didn't want to go to the emotional place," she said. "It's really hard to go through this on such a public stage."

Still, Kris doesn't regret putting her family on that public stage. When Barbara Walters asked her if she had any regrets about putting their lives on reality TV, she replied, "absolutely not." If only the viewing public could say the same about watching ...
