Has the Tiger Woods saga been too well covered?
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 14th 2009 8:04PM
After a long day of whining and moaning about fictional characters' motives and twisting plot lines, I like to unwind with a bit of less believable reality: the evening news. The only thing is this week, my days haven't ended with my daily dose of death and destruction. For instance, the most visible story on last week's roll of the NBC Nightly News was the never-ending Tiger Woods saga, starting with his growing roster of steady girlfriends and ending with his lost endorsement deals. The majority of last week's broadcasts featured the latest news at the very top of their broadcasts.
It's even worse on the cable news networks. The story has been updated and broken over and over for what seems to be every hour on the hour and these are networks that stopped giving time to sports stories when ESPN cornered the market.
Is it just me or is Tiger-gate getting too much coverage?
