Amy Brenneman: Violet Is the Stable Force on New Season of 'Private Practice' (VIDEO)
by Stephanie Opella, posted Sep 29th 2011 5:15PM
Amy Brenneman, who plays Violet Turner on ABC's 'Private Practice,' stopped by 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) to preview tonight's season premiere. When guest co-host Aisha Tyler ran through all the recent drama in Violet's life -- pregnancy, kidnapping and calling off a wedding -- Brenneman told the panel that this season, Violet "is the stable force ... in her own crazy, neurotic way." Violet's husband Pete, played by Tim Daly, had a heart attack at the end of last season and Brenneman said that was her character's "come to Jesus moment."
'Private Practice': The End of the Day, or the End of a Life? (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 29th 2010 9:31AM
There's nothing better than leaving the office at the end of the workday. Sure, there are still minor nuisances: powering down your computer, gathering up your stuff ... Still, you're essentially free -- freed from drudgery. Unless something goes wrong.[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) thinks she's free. But nothing could be further from the case. She tries to leave at the end of the day on 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC). Not only does not she make it out the door -- she might not make it out alive.
Ms. King is the Chief of Staff at St. Ambrose Hospital. She's just finished a night of work on Halloween Eve -- she had to stay late on the holiday, but soon that minor annoyance will be the least of her worries. Charlotte and her fiancée Cooper (Paul Adelstein) had a fight earlier in the day. But Coop made it up to her with a gift; a miniature layer cake in a tasteful box. She glances at her fiancée's photo, grabs the box ... And then she's walking out of her office.
And that's when it happens.
'Private Practice': Love in an Elevator (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 22nd 2010 7:23AM
Medical shows can be so tense. There's never any time for the characters to relax, and everyone's always rushing to surgery or dealing with the latest life-and-death situation. But we get a break from that on the latest 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC).[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
The episode starts with the three main female characters just standing around in an elevator. Hardly the high-stakes drama we're used to. Addison, Amelia and Violet (played by Kate Walsh, Caterina Scorsone and Amy Brenneman) are killing time, and the trio use the elevator ride to discuss their love lives.
Amelia complains that she hasn't had sex in "weeks." Man, that's rough. "I need to get laid! I need to get laid really bad!" she says.
'Private Practice': Looking For a Home Away From Home (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 15th 2010 10:30AM
On the new 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC), an old friend's daughter returns -- and the doctors at Oceanside Wellness must find her a home. But they learn that doing the right thing is harder than you think.[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
Last season, Dell Parker (Chris Lowell) died following a car accident. Dell left his daughter Betsy Parker behind, and Betsy's mother is dead as well -- so the little girl was left in the care of an aunt. Now, the aunt suddenly arrives at the clinic, abandoning Betsy there. The doctors don't know what to do. And Betsy (Hailey Sole) has no family left to help her.
'Private Practice': A Girl and a Gun (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 8th 2010 6:47AM
The director Jean-Luc Godard famously said that in order to create drama, you only need two things: "A girl and a gun." This certainly holds true for the latest episode of 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC).[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
While the other doctors are occupied with their own endless melodramas (which includes tonight's crossover with 'Grey's Anatomy'), Dr. Pete Wilder (Tim Daly) has to deal with something a little more solid and tangible. Such as a gun being shoved in his face. Pete volunteers to help out at a friend's home medical clinic. But he is shocked to learn that his friend Gibby (James Remar) performs surgery out of the back room of his house. And when a teenage girl is shot, the situation gets even more tense.
The young woman has been shot three times, and is quickly bleeding to death. Her boyfriend Alex (Preston Flagg) stands nervously by her side as the doctors go to work. But the girl's life can't be saved in the tiny surgery clinic. Pete says that they have to call an ambulance ... and that's when the gun comes out.
The 'Private Practice' Cast Teases Love, Marriage & Sex In New Season (VIDEO)

Let's be honest: Last season of 'Private Practice' was a real downer. But this season is starting off with a bang, a surprise and some life-changing orgasms, according to the cast.

I stopped by the set while they were shooting their farewells to Dell over his grave (we'll miss you, Chris Lowell!), and they were all incredibly eager to talk about the theme of Season 4: adult relationships.
Check out what Kate Walsh, Taye Diggs, Amy Brenneman, Tim Daly, Audra McDonald, Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Caterina Scorsone and Brian Benben teased about the sexy new season (premieres Thurs., Sept. 23, 10PM ET on ABC), wedding bells and more.

Alec Baldwin on 'Private Practice'? The Cast Talks Dream Guest Stars (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 10th 2010 11:00AM
'Private Pracitce' has had some pretty great guest stars over the last three seasons. JoBeth Williams, Stephen Collins, Grant Show, Jay Harrington, Rosanna Arquette, D.B. Woodside and star Taye Diggs' wife Idina Menzel have all stopped by to play, not to mention certain members of the 'Grey's Anatomy' cast.

So it got me thinking: Are there any celebs the cast is dying to have on the show? I visited the set to find out and got answers ranging from an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress to an outpouring of love for Alec Baldwin.
And all that guest star talk prompted Tim Daly to get fired up and say this: "Oh, I can kick Kevin Bacon's ass!" Watch and see why.

The Stars of 'Private Practice' Talk Twitter (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 2nd 2010 4:45PM
'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Private Practice' boss lady Shonda Rhimes is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter (hi @shondarhimes!). She answers fan questions in what can only be called entertaining bursts of rapid-fire tweeting, then often puts an abrupt end to things when she's sick of answering the same "when will AddiSam happen for real?" question over and over agian.
While we all know the 'Grey's' cast is pretty anti-Twitter, the gang over at 'Private Practice' is much more tech-savvy and loving the instant connection with the fans. I hit the 'Private Practice' set -- a full set visit video is coming closer to premiere -- and the amount of Twitter talk warranted its own post.

Kate Walsh (@k8_walsh) says she treats it like her diary, while Tim Daly (@TimmyDaly) says he can't stand people who do that. Amy Brenneman (@TheAmyBrenneman) gives us the real reason Taye Diggs won't tweet, while Taye just tries to come to terms with the word tweet. And Audra McDonald (@AudraEqualityMc) reminds us that sometimes there's more to the oft-maligned social media tool than meets the eye.
Also of note: Caterina Scorsone (@caterinatweets), a.k.a. Amelia Shepherd, is also on. And since my visit, KaDee Strickland (@KaDeeStrick) has joined the ranks as well. I'm not taking credit or anything, but ... well, you're welcome. Enjoy!

OK, who wouldn't kiss Taye Diggs if given the opportunity? But, still, Addison, what are you doing? Make up your mind. On last night's 'Private Practice' (Thu., 9PM ET on ABC) she got a wake-up call in the Pete-Addison-Sam love triangle.Watch the video after the jump.
'Wings' Cast: Where Are They Now?
by Chris Jordan, posted Apr 19th 2010 12:00PM
It was a wacky world on the NBC '90s sitcom 'Wings.' Anything could happen on the ensemble show, from witty repartee to outlandish sight gags to a breathy romance or two.'Wings' marks its 20th anniversary today, April 19. They were fun and funny times. The comedy revolved around Joe Hackett (Timothy Daly), a straight flier and owner of the one-plane Nantucket airline Sandpiper Air, his freewheeling brother Brian Hackett (Steven Weber) and transplanted Southern belle Helen (Crystal Bernard).
However, much of the charm -- and the humor -- at Tom Nevers Airport was supplied by a few fellas who would later become stars in their own right: Tony Shalhoub as the hopelessly romantic Antonio and Thomas Haden Church as Lowell the humble handyman.
'Private Practice': Should Addison Be With Sam or Pete? (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 19th 2010 3:05AM
Things are heating up between Pete and Addison on 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC) which is just awkward all the way around for Sam. In fact, he doesn't even want to see her at this point, but he's trying to put things aside for his daughter's wedding. It's a tough choice, because Addison has great chemistry with both of these guys. And really, it's a high class problem, isn't it? Neither one is hard to look at.

TV Squad Ten: Series that should be canceled
by Isabelle Carreau, posted May 6th 2009 11:03AM

Earlier this week, I let you know of the ten shows I thought should be renewed. Now it's time to reverse the question and think about the shows that shouldn't be renewed. Yes, there are some shows that should end now, either because they have annoying characters (*cough* Meredith Grey *cough*), are not treated properly by their network (insert here pretty much all shows on FOX), have been on TV for too long and have a hard time being original (I'm talking about you Survivor), etc. ER would have been a prime candidate for this list, but NBC finally made the right decision and ended the show a few weeks ago. Note that my list includes some shows that have received early renewals. Still, I think they should be canceled asap. So what other shows, besides ER, I think should bite the dust? Let's find out!

Private Practice: Yours, Mine & Ours (season finale)

(S02E22) "You have my baby and I want it back." - Katie
Those of us who keep up with show spoilers were warned that this episode would be a little crazy. But what we've got instead was a whole lot of crazy and some poor writing. To me, the season finale of Private Practice felt like it was rushed way too much. I get that season finale must be action packed and end with cliffhangers, especially when the series has been renewed, but there is a limit, no?
