Tim Tebow One of Several NFL Stars This Week on 'The Biggest Loser' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 5th 2011 1:45AM
It was NFL Week on 'The Biggest Loser' (Tue., 8PM ET on NBC), which was especially difficult for the Black Team's Antone, a former NFL professional himself. They were joined in a challenge by Clay Matthews, Tony Gonzalez and Drew Brees, which was exciting in itself. But then they got the opportunity to work out with a pro for their last chance workouts. Shawne Merriman worked out with the Black Team, Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson joined the 50+ Blue Team, and the Red Team were treated to Tim Tebow, who definitely got them fired up.
Focus on the Family Tackles Super Bowl With Pre-Game Ad
by Gary Susman, posted Feb 5th 2010 12:45PM
In a move certain to amplify the controversy - and free publicity - it has already generated, Focus on the Family has announced it's running a second Super Bowl ad.Like the first ad, the second spot, which will air four times during CBS' pregame show, also features Heisman Trophy-winner Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam, according to USA Today. No word on the second commercial's content or cost, but it seems certain to add to the outrage among abortion-rights advocates, who have questioned the first ad's accuracy and fairness and have protested CBS' seeming double standard in cooperating with conservative organizations to get their advocacy ads on the air while snubbing liberal issue ads.
Super Bowl to feature more advocacy ads
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 26th 2010 9:30PM
It looks like the commercials for the Super Bowl just got a little less hilarious, or more depending on your personal viewpoints and political persuasions. CBS has eased the restrictions on selling spots to advocacy groups during the single most important television advertising event of the year and said it would consider "responsibly produced" ads for the Super Bowl broadcast on February 7.
The issue arose when an anti-abortion group wanted to air an ad funded by James Dobson's Focus on the Family advocacy group starring 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. Honestly, who cares? Why all this controversy over a commercial? Does it involve singing dogs or the Budweiser lizards discussing the point at which life begins? Am I the only person in the universe who watches the Super Bowl... to watch the actual Super Bowl?
