Sydney and Mom Love Upsetting People With The Baby on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 15th 2011 6:30AM
'Toddlers & Tiaras'Lest you think beauty pageants are all the mothers and daughters of 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC) live for, meet 11-year old Sydney and her mother. This pair loves spending time with the baby of the family, but there's a twist to that story.

"I've actually had the police called on me for leaving her in the car," Mom explained. "We've had people cuss at us in the store because I would let my little daughter walk around holding a newborn."

As they finally explained, "Morgan is a doll. Morgan is our doll that we like to trick people with." See, they just did it again; this time to the 'Toddlers & Tiaras' audience.

'Toddlers & Tiaras' Mom Doesn't Understand 'Pretty Woman' Costume Controversy (VIDEO)

'Pretty Woman' prostitute costume - 'Toddlers & Tiaras''Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC) has been straddling the line of uncomfortable television since its debut in 2009. But it wasn't until this week's episode that it drew the attention of the Parents Television Council.

It wasn't the padded breasts and butt in a Dolly Parton outfit worn by a 4-year old in last week's installment that got them worked up. It was little Paisley in a costume inspired by the movie 'Pretty Woman.'

More specifically, it was the costume Julia Roberts' character wore when working as a prostitute. Paisley's mother insisted that her daughter also wore a more demure dress from the movie, but that it had been edited out of the show.

Maddy's Dolly Parton Outfit Helps Her Win Big on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 1st 2011 8:40AM
Maddy JacksonThe mothers and managers on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC) often make what seem to us to be questionable choices, and this week was no exception.

We saw Maddy's mom adding some adult "enhancements" to the four-year-old's "Outfit of Choice."

That's because Maddy's toddler pageant pièce de résistance is to dress up as Dolly Parton. Complete with fake boobs and butt.

As he preps her Partonesque wig for the the competition, stylist Michael confesses that he's not a fan of "the boobies." But Maddy thinks she looks cute in her outfit, boobs 'n all.

When Michael asks if she thinks she'd be just as cute without the fake boobs he gets an emphatic "No!"

'Toddlers and Tiaras' Mom Defends Maddy's Enhanced Dolly Parton Impression (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 31st 2011 3:00PM
Maddy Jackson, who won a lot of prizes, on 'Today'When four-year-old Maddy Jackson plays Dolly Parton in pageants and competitions, she has to use a few enhancements. Namely, fake boobs and a fake butt. That didn't seem to bother her or her mother, Lindsay, who both appeared on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) to talk about 'Toddlers and Tiaras' and the child pageant lifestyle.

"When she wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it's just like extra bonus," said Lindsay Jackson. Maddy's verdict? "I won a lot of prizes!" she yelled on a clip from 'Toddlers.' When 'Today' anchor Savannah Guthrie asked if she enjoyed the competition, little Maddy kissed her finger and pointed with a smile, which is apparently what a child pageant star does when she means "yes."

Kailia Goes Head To Head With Kayla on 'Toddlers and Tiaras' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 25th 2011 7:00PM
Kayla on 'Toddlers and Tiaras'It was the battle of Kailie versus Kayla Wednesday on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wednesdays, 10PM on TLC), two favorites who awkwardly gyrated suggestively to music to impress the judges, fans, and their adoring mothers. Only one could win the classy, understated title Ultimate Grand Supreme, while the other would have to settle for just regular old Grand Supreme.

If you asked judge Kirtsen Hancock, Kayla was the favorite. "Kayla is a crowd pleaser," she said. "She could do anything onstage and I think that the crowd would react because she loves what she's doing." Kailia's mom would beg to differ, seeing the work her daughter put into her dance routine. "Kailia has put her whole effort out to do all the little fancy footwork and she was polished up there for a four year old," she said. And Kailia was very focused on the "big trophy" and "big crown."

Kayla won the "grand supreme," but she wasn't happy about it. She started to scream, and neither money nor toys would stop it. Kailia won the Ultimate Grand Supreme, and her fan of money and crown nearly as tall as she was seemed to please her. Let that be a lesson to you, kids -- never be satisfied with second place, even if you get the same hat.

'Toddlers & Tiaras': Allyson Loves Everything About Beyonce (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 4th 2011 6:09AM
'Toddlers & Tiaras'Four-year old Allyson is a huge fan of Beyoncé. But it's more than just a love of her music, confidence and style that attracts the pageant princess on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC). Allyson is in love with the color of Beyoncé's skin.

As her mother explains, Allyson only buys "brown" dolls, and isn't even happy with her own skin tone.

"I like tanning so that I can get brown like Beyoncé," Allyson said. "I wanna be just brown."

When she got her spray tan and saw the darker tone on her skin, she was so happy she started singing 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)' right there on the spot. Sure, it's a little strange, but at four years old, she knows what she likes and it's kind of adorable how devoted she is to the whole idea of brown.

Shanna Can't Handle Daughter Savanna Crying on 'Toddlers and Tiaras' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 7th 2011 6:22AM
'Toddlers & Tiaras'You can't help but have your heart break a little for these girls on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC) when they start cracking under the pressure. This week it was Savanna's turn, which put her mother in a difficult position.

Savanna was crying because a hairpiece she was wearing wasn't sitting comfortably on her head, but there simply wasn't time to redo the whole thing and as per the rules of this particular pageant, she needed to have a hairpiece.

It got awkward when mother Shanna started asking Savanna if she just wanted to drop out of the pageant. The girl alternated between teary-eyed nodding and shaking her head, as if she wasn't sure what the right answer was and she didn't want to disappoint her mother.

Chloe in a Daisy Duke Costume on 'Toddlers and Tiaras' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 23rd 2011 2:52AM
'Toddlers & Tiaras'It's a fine line between adorable and a little too "sexy" with these pageant costumes on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC). For a Halloween-themed segment, Jamie had her daughter Chloe dressed in a classic Daisy Duke costume, but is that a bit too revealing for a nine-year old?

Jamie admitted to having concerns that the judges might think so. It's one thing to make the girls look cute and adorable, and another to dress them in a costume that came to popularity because of the sexual and womanly attractiveness of Daisy Duke herself.

While the costume was cute and the judges did like it, one of them did say, "Age-appropriate-wise, I would like to see her covered up just a little bit more."

'Toddlers & Tiaras' Season Premiere: Eden vs. Makenzie Showdown Ends in Tears (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 16th 2011 7:12AM
'Toddlers & Tiaras' S04/E01There was high drama, spectacle, heartbreak and at least one ear-splitting meltdown on last night's Season 4 Premiere of 'Toddlers & Tiaras' (Wed., 10PM ET on TLC).

The Eden vs. Makenzie rivalry finally came to a head when they both competed in a Texas beauty pageant for the truly magnificent title of "Ultimate Grand Supreme." Which one of them would go on to win the coveted title, which comes with $1,000 and a pink canopy bed?

Sadly for them, neither. Six-year old Eden came in second and was crowned "Universal Royalty," taking home a huge, glitzy trophy to add to her already jam-packed trophy cabinet. Ever the pro, little Eden smiled for the judges and audience, but once she came off-stage she just couldn't control her feelings.

Despite mom Mickie warning, "Please don't cry baby, you're on camera," Eden started wailing like, well, the disappointed little kid she is. Even after her mom pointed out that she was taking home a giant, winged trophy when lots of girls -- including arch-rival Makenzie -- were going home with nothing, Eden just couldn't stop crying.

Even the most devoted fans of 'Doctor Who' spin-off 'Torchwood' are in for more than a few surprises and one big treat of a miniseries with this five-night (Mon.-Fri., 9PM each night) special that serves as the show's third season.

Captain Jack and his (few) remaining cohorts are up against a particularly wily foe this time, as a race of aliens – with a shocking connection to Jack – is demanding 10 percent of Earth's children, lest they release a deadly virus that will kill millions.

Should children be allowed on reality TV?

by Michael Pascua, posted Jun 24th 2009 5:02PM
Emilia from Toddlers and Tiaras gets ready. After the separation of Jon and Kate Gosselin, one is left wondering: what will happen to the children? Jon and Kate Plus Eight isn't the first reality show to feature children, but many including Jon and Kate, place their children in questionable situations.

What makes exploiting children the same as a twenty-something who wants to win Big Brother? Family reality shows have done everything as well, including swapping mothers, adventure races, fixing houses, and general living with life. There's got to be a point where the legal guardian has to say enough is enough. Aren't child labor laws in effect with the 24/7 families?

Donna Martin graduates! Donna Martin graduates! Nah ... that ship sailed long ago.

But after a visit from Brenda Walsh earlier in the season and a directorial effort recently by Jason Priestley, another original '90210'-er visits Kelly Taylor tonight as her one-time roommate Donna (Tori Spelling) pops into town to see Kelly and Silver.

Donna, now a very successful fashion designer in Japan, also gets a high-profile job while back in her home 'hood, when Oscar-winning 'Juno' screenwriter Diablo Cody (who guest stars) asks her to design a frock. Meanwhile, all this career success is great, but we really wanna know if Donna and hubby David are still happily coupled.

Weekly Reality Awards - VIDEO

Top ModelThis week in reality television was eclectic. Dancing With the Stars was happily un-complicated with the absence of Denise Richards, America's Next Top Model's most home-sick model mysteriously was on top, and no one should have watched Survivor because it was a waste of time.

This is one of those weeks where you realize that the show casts people with little-to-no chance of winning just so that the people they want to win don't mess up. Although American Idol's Michael Sarver is a great example, I'm looking mostly at Celia (right) from Top Model: she's too old. On a positive note, there was a lot of weird, memorable, and funny moments to compensate this week. More analysis after the jump.

Bad Girls Club'The Bad Girls Club'
(10PM, Oxygen) 3rd season finale
Well, congratulations to this cast of 'The Bad Girls Club,' which has proven to be the most dramatic, and the most violent, so far.

The proof: that incident involving one BG kicking another one in the head, a fight that ended with two women leaving the show. There was also Kayla's early departure, lots of scantily-clad nights on the town and, of course, the Ambers, the two most hated BGs. And the two pals are at the center of tonight's tension-filled season ender, as Amber M. offends Tiffany and Tiffany's friend.

Elsewhere, Sarah tells potential boytoy Noah about her skanky shenanigans during her Cancun vacay, and the women leave the house ... in shambles.
