Tom and Jerry Tales
New TV on DVD releases this week
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I don't know why I haven't bought any of the Bewitched sets yet. It's one of my favorite sitcoms, but I think it has gotten so far into the releases (this week it's season 7) that I've convinced myself that there will be a complete series set and that I should wait for it. But I'm tempted to buy this set because it features an entire episode set and filmed in my hometown!
As for the Columbo movie set, well, I have to buy that now because I just bought the entire series on DVD.
- Afro Samurai - Resurrection (regular set and special editions)
- Becker - Season 2
- Bewitched - Season 7
- Columbo - Mystery Movie Collection: 1990
- Dave's World - Season 2
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Vol. 14
- Night Court - Season 2
- The Partridge Family - Season 4
- Tom and Jerry Tales - Vol. 6

I have a confession to make: I always liked Caroline in the City. Maybe it was because it was set in the world of cartooning, or that I liked the fact that Richard was sarcastic and morose, or maybe it's just that I've always thought that Lea Thompson was really cute. Anyway, the first season is out on DVD tomorrow, and I just might have to pick it up.Another syndicated-writer show is on DVD for the first time tomorrow too: Dave's World, the sitcom starring Harry Anderson that was based on the life and columns of Dave Barry. I miss Harry Anderson.
- Caroline in the City - Season 1
- Dave's World - Season 1
- Kenny vs. Spenny - Season 4
- The Love Boat - Season 1, Vol. 2
- Naruto - Uncut Box Set 9
- Prison Break - Season 3
- South Park - Season 11
- The Superman/Aquaman Adventure Hour - DC Superheroes: Filmation Adventures
- That Girl - Season 4
- Tom and Jerry Tales - Season 5
- Tru Calling - Complete Series
- The Wire - Season 5
Ruh roh, Raggy! Scooby-Doo returns to Saturday morning TV
There are some
cartoon characters that have a permanent shield of double-thick steel around them. When you think they're finally gone,
they come back in a new form.
Take our pal Scooby-Doo, for example. Scooby and his Mystery Inc. friends have been with us since 1969. That's 37 years, kids; 259 in dog years (you knew I had to throw in that joke, didn't ya?). Since then he's been paired with Fred, Daphne, and Velma, the Scooby-Doobies (From Laff-a-Lympics), Dynomutt, Vincent Price and, ahem, Scrappy-Doo. After leaving Saturday mornings in the late '80s, he returned with the entire Mystery Inc in What's New Scooby-Doo for the Kids WB.
Now he's back again in this fall's 'Kids WB on the CW' (catchy, ain't it?) in Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue. In this show... well, perhaps you should jump to find out what it's all about, and also see some of the other new series premiering next fall on Kids WB.
