TV Commercial Day is August 28 (in Japan)

Japan has designated August 28 "TV Commercial Day" as a way of showing viewers the importance of advertising. The idea was sparked in no small part by an increase in DVRs and Tivos which allow viewers to skip over commercials. This technology, some have warned, has caused a significant drop in ad revenue. I think this could all be solved if people would occasionally watch shows they don't like so that they can skip over the show and just watch the commercials. And yet, no one ever contacts me about these things.TV Squad Hot Topics
